I got a question, is it possible extract mana and absorb it to replenish your own mana pool? Since on the surface or any mana poor area, it's a hazard for MS to overexert themselves. I was thinking we can create a mana battery of sort. Similar to the one that is powering our ship, but miniaturize to be carried by personnel.

Nothing can substitute an underground city's worth of ambient mana that is needed in order to use arts safely. you need to offset the rate of evaporation by a substantial amount, if you want to find a way to contain mana for MS to use safely. http://www.drowtales.com/mainarchive.php?sid=8723

It'd be slow, of course, but eventually the mana would dissipate and try to "even out", like steam tries to even out with the air around it. Problem is that, like steam, there isn't enough mana in the air to allow it to stay around, but it just dissolves as it spreads way too thin.

If you mean to make them into something you can pop like an energy drink, then...

Out of all examples I've seen foci/cores/gems used, I've never seen it being used as a source of mana. they only hold so much that is needed for summoning, boosting one's personal mana for sorcery and operating golems (keep in mind these things are designed for mana efficiency). it's just too insignificant to make a difference in the body's needs.

That was what I meant. In a RPG game sense, something to replenish you magic points when you run out. Well, so much for that idea.

We can always make some foci/mana cores fit into gauntlets or what else. They don't replenish your mana, but reduce the amount of mana you have to use from within your own body.
In RPG terms, they increase your maximum MP instead of recovering it.

Here's a dumb idea. I've been told before that those with water affinity can walk on water. Maybe we should put that to the test? Even if it's confirm that water affinity drows can walk on water, we ourselves have yet to demonstrate that particular skill. Just get a big bucket/tub of water and try standing on the surface of the water.

Tim made plans for a mana-o-meter to measure how much mana was in an environment, I think we made it, but now I am not sure... Let me dig up the posts...
