PTP Memories

Note this is a thread where you can tell the community why you personally joined this game. Did Anything intrigue you? Entrance you? Did you join for yourself or because of others? etc.

Well I will go fist. My character is Biel and I have been on PtP for about 2 years and have enjoyed it immensely. I originally joined this game because I saw it out of the corner of my eye as I was reading the DT main archive. After reading the free archives I was intrigued by the the concept of a comic which revolved around the actions of human generated characters. After joining I though I would never meet anyone however and it was not until the fiasco with factions that I truly got to see a thriving community behind it. It was gruff community one I've liked since then. My only regret is that the current community is rather hostile. So please if you guys could help me to make the forums a better place to post up ideas without flame spam I would be eternally grateful.

I remember the time my character kicked your character in the face for being such an idiot. Way to continue disrupting the wall construction project. This is war. Prepare to die.

Well, *I* am going to contribute to this thread in the manner intended when Biel started it:

I Came to Drowtales by chance, linked from another web-comic, Having played some D&D games in the past (specifically the Neverwinter Nights games) I already knew *of* Drow, but here was a massively intricate story that made them into a full race with their own story instead of 'generic red-eye evils'. That got me hooked into DT right there... But I kept looking around the sight and read the 'free' archive of PtP, and it was like Whoa... Something that's as good as everything else here AND is interactive!? AWESOME! Sure, the fact that I would actually have to *pay* was a negative, but overall I think its been worth it! The community, the interaction, the new friends I've made... for that $5 a month is a small price (even is spite of the occasional bouts of 'drama').

I first got into PTP about two years ago. I'd been a member of the DT site for a while and sort of knew about it, but when they opened up the archive and allowed non-subscribers to see the earlier pages I was convinced to join.

I was brought onto the Al'Dun chat randomly without knowing what PtP was. O.O At the time, I was in graduate school and didn't have time for anything, let alone breathing. I started playing because in real life, Dsieda/Reveria is a friend of mine, and I wanted to be a part of something she was a part of, so I joined. I played for a few months, then I lost my job and couldn't play for awhile. Then I came back when money wasn't an issue anymore, lol.

I was intrigued by the game, especially since I like RP and such. So I wanted to stick around. :)

But I escaped from the reality

I am a newbie / rookie / greenhorn in the PtP comapring to most of the active players, but due this I remember very well and how I joined:

- in the end of the August this year (2011) I have been checking some older posts in the Czech RPGForum and have stepped on some interesting links
- one of the links has been the drowtales.com, so I have shuffled on the start all the free material I could reach onto
- due the fact I am playing the RPGs for more then 20 years I have been intrigued by the PtP macro-RPG (community) mechanics
- also I liked the story from a very start, so I have get through all the free materials and to catch up the info I have also get through all the Moonless Age chapters and related storiess
- so after 1 week of thinking I have decided to join (even I do not play any on-line games for more then 10 years after the MUD/MUSH games disappeared)
- I have joined in the end of the September and found a very nice, open minded and friendly community

So I must say after joining and trying the game and getting to community for a while I must say it has surpassed my expectations and I am glad I am here with all of you. *bigsmile*

God... there were some awesome times...

I remember joining, it was just such a cool idea, and I'd been reading Drowtales for ages, since before the second set of rewrites.

I remember first starting up, and voting. I remember our first scouting master Q, and when we got the forge and when I first appeared in the comic next to Mari'ciel... and then the martial art's tournament, fighting against the tournament champion in the first round... and the slave fights and the arguments over how to treat the slaves and then later the slavers.
Earth, fire, wind, and water all come together in perfect balance inside of a Smith's forge, this perfect harmony of elements can rarely be found anywhere else in existence.

; ^ ; I thought my post made it through ; ^ ;

oh well ^^ I shall post again~! ;D

Originally I met Goji and Xenon on a trip (IRL) and they were talking about PtP and I was interested in it so Goji invited me to join. ^^ Kind of a simple reason ^^;; but I thought it looked really really cool. I read all the archives before I tried to start talking to people (took me almost a whole month ^^; ) and then I started talking on shoutbox and forums and everyone was so nice to me >w< Twas much fun ^^ I hope it gets that way again soon =/

I found DT through Belfry WebComics Index in 2004 and fell in love with the early versions of Mel'arnach. I lurked on the forums for over 2 years before signing up in early 2007. The ads for Demonic Courtship, especially Katibu's artwork, got me interested in getting a subscription to the game and DayDream. I stayed on for Path to Power and got involved in the forum RPs and have enjoyed the game (warts and all) ever since. :D

I first found out about Drowtales while doing a search for DnD comics during my first year of college, back in 2002. Back then I had a (slight) obsession with Drow and all things around them, and it intrigued me to read the comic, as well as all the fan-based ones surrounding it (of which there were quite a few back then). I've rarely been active on the forums, as I am almost always a lurker, but when Demonic Courtship came out I wanted to participate. I guess you could say that was my first true entrance to the community here. When it changed over to PTP, I mainly started as just a faceless, voting for things when I liked them and otherwise just watching how it went. After our clan's first couple of bouts and dramatic encounters though, I wanted further participation.

To say that I feel like one of the old men of the clan might be pushing it, as I've not tried to make myself too noticeable, but I like to think that as the years (hopefully) continue to go by, we'll still be able to remember some of the good times:

- The first Tiray contest with Ys'sa as the winner
- Our first honor duel with Warmaster Shiir and the squatters of the ruins
- Dear Bel, our apple-addicted ambassador and, at the time, the gentle heart of the clan
- Katralya's diner
- SPIDER GOLEM! (Seriously, we need this guy back!)
- The treaties with the Sharen, the Guild of Flowers, and the Siksa'santi
-The Dva'raka war

And of course, the damn Black Sun...
Insanity - A state of mind in which the afflicted acts outside of social norms.
....Well I guess the sane are in a minority then.

I found Drowtales in 2006 through an ad on Goblins comic site and pretty much read through it in one go. I got my daily doses of DT ever since and eventually started paying attention to side attraction. Wasn't before 2009 that I finally decided to join Path to Power and when I did, I wanted to join the engineers! Because I love design work. However engineers weren't recruiting, neither were scouts and Harvesters didn't sound appealing to me. So I asked the chat box who are in demand and it was Taruna who immediately snatched me and made me join the warriors!

Following weeks were full of MORALE training under both Shiir's and Taruna's guidance and chasing the feral children who stole our food. Eventually I got to don my armor and Squad Ten was formed under Taruna's command! Squad Ten, the squad who's leader is a champion of warrior class tir'ay!

Following years were well spent in forum debates, design contests, endless shoutbox shenanigans and even a single war after which Taruna got promoted into XO and I became the fresh leader of Squad Ten! I didn't let the squad rest and kept the MORALE training going strong! Somehwere during that time I became good friends with Thalar and have been going strong ever since then.

I also have fond memories of the spider golem (where art thou?), tournaments, Black Sun war where I got blown up, recovered and got cut down and still survived! In PTP2 I led the first and successful hunting trip into the forest and conceivrd the bolas hunting weapon which unlike arrows turned out to be super effective! Ah, good times!

Well, it's all coming to an end. The forum is closing and with it all this will be gone as well. Then again, "dusty" does not begin to describe this part of the forums.

Still, it had been a wild ride while it lasted. This game and the people I met along the way will always be a big part of my life and I don't think I'll forget it for the rest of my days.

Cheers to you Path to Power forums. You will be missed.
