Black Sun - Still a threat?

Postby Aerisa on Fri Mar 04, 2011 2:27 am

I know Daydream isn't technically cannon, however the February 26 update of 'Origin of the Jaaldarya' makes me ponder. In it, two characters, the Mimian Queen and the Illhar of the Pre-Darya Jaal talks about the Black Sun, the mimian queens describing them as such:

Siyah-Korshed. A nation of nomadic plunderers. They are a scourge on the surface as well as in the underworld.

A scourge on the Surface. So far, all of our efforts are concentrated toward making our new home as secluded and secret as possible. However, there will be some who will know of it's location: The Nal, some Blue Banner, Ferrals. There will also be trace of our settlements, as many have spoken of doing trade with the Halmes settlements outside of the forest, so the existence of our future home could also be discovered from them.

My question from there: Considering all of this, could the Black Sun still be considered a threat, even after moving so far away? Should we even bother about them? What could we do to prevent trouble?

I don't think Thalar is gonna be sadistic enough to risk pissing off the customers so soon after we start playing the next game only to face a game over scenario a month later because they decided we are ready to deal with the BS only to get wiped out because we still have not learned how to use the system properly or even created our first tools to deal with such a big invasion force.
A survivalist should not be a pessimist, he should always be positive, happy and enjoying life more than anyone else because he understands that each minute of peace we have is precious and unique, and he never takes it for granted.

Its a game we will never succeed in being completely isolated. Should we create a strong military with as many allies as possible? Yes.

They will appear again. That's as certain as the fact that there will be conflicts with other Clans on the surface. It's pretty obvious, storywise, that you and the BS aren't done yet.

So they will show up. Perhaps not in the first year, but one day another BS raid group will knockig at your fortress.

I believe that in one year, real-time mind you, the BS will show up again, maybe not to plunder our homes but the ones of the kotorcs and halmes who, after one year of diplomatic interaction, will run to save their sorry asses into the wood, up the road to our home, begging for help. That will lead the *small army* of the BS to our home and we get Ther'Avare 2.0. Expect that this time we gonna kick thier asses to the moon and above. }:3

Till then we need better weapons, some golems, some antigolem weapons, better ranged and more deadlier weapons for scouts, weapons/light armour for the non-combat classes to man the walls and still do their share of the battle, a good and upgraded fort, hidden outposts with warriors/scouts there to fall into the BS army back, War mounts and so on.^^

Black Sun are the perfect adversary. No one likes them, all the players both IC and OOC have a grudge against them, and they have no real connections to anyone else. Also, they are on the surface in large numbers. So yes, we will fight them again, although probably not right off the bat.
