Chel'el'sussoloth- Illhar'do Fortress

Re: Chel'el'sussoloth- Illhar'do Fortress

A figure enthralled in clothes to befit a Val swept towards the Illhar'dro Fortress, her long hair streaming behind her as she swept towards the gargantuan display of light and wealth. The Illhar'dro were prominent, a wealthy clan with good ties to trade and other underground towns, and the number of Dev'esses supporting the main family outnumbered any clan in the sheer magnitude of the network they controlled. One figure, daughter of a dev'ess, Suru'sunduir Sariya'ssinsuruul Illhar'dro made her way to mighty silver gates, the few guards on patrol in front dipping their heads in acknowledgment as the doors opened without question. The faint sound of singing and laughing could be heard in the distance, Illhar'dro commoners and nobles walking about as the famed gardens of the fortress peaked out from every corner. Many of the figures stopped, bowed a little, and made small talk, and Suru was on her way again to her destination.

Finally, she arrived at some stalls, the pervasive stench of the Clan's Mount leaking from their pins. A drow woman looked up as Suru approached her.

"Lady Suru'sunduiri, what can I do for you today?"

Suru smiled a little as she made her greetings as well.
"I will be departing Chel'el'sussoloth, and in the interest of speed, I was wondering if any of the Clan Mounts are available to be borrowed?"

The lady smiled as she consulted a list before her, her eyes flitting back up as she responded.

"For the Sariya'ssinsuuruls, of course. There is a rather strong one in stall 12, you may borrow her but be sure to return her back to our fortress in Val'Raveran."

Suru'sunduir chuckled, dipping inside the compound. Some of the care givers were stroking and brushing any loose dust from the feathers of the birds, shoveling away execrement or feeding them. Stall 12 held a majestic bird, deep sea green feathers and intelligent eyes, Suru smiled as she patted the top of its head.

Suru'sunduiri had made her time to get acquainted with her borrowed mount before she left the compound to check on the caravans and her own supplies. A motley group of twenty traders, mainly of Illhar'dro origin, some Nal'Sarkoth and other independent Chelian merchants were chattering as they loaded materials onto the giant lizards backs. Suru'sunduiri checked all that was leaving Chel'el'sussoloth: spider silks, Chelian wares, and then she noted the things requested by and in demand in Chel'el'sussoloth's market. Maybe she could negotiate a good deal on gems in Val'Raveran and sell them for three times the price back in Chel'el'sussoloth. Some messengers and travelers who had wished to traveled with a group were lingering outside with the rest of the traders and preparations were made. Making a final check over the wares, Suru'sunduiri nodded with satisfaction before retreating back into the Illhar'dro fortress to head back to her residence.

Carefully slipping off her gown and letting down her hair, Suru decided to freshen up before her travel. The day had brought some dust upon her, and the running about Chel'el'sussoloth was tiring. Sinking into a bath, Suru let out a satisfied sigh as she water covered her entire body, dampening her hair as well. The glimmering crystals reflected the light radiantly upon her slim figure.

Picking up a writing utensil, Suru quickly dried her hands over a towel and grabbed her journal. With that, she began listing down all that she had done for the day, including notes about Lord Ash'vari, Killian, and Rhylagh. Taking a second, she began sketching the face of Killian as she smirked a little. When the water had become lukewarm, Suru lifted herself her bath and dried herself off. Back in her room, she began selecting some traveling attire.

Taking a pair of long legged sapphire blue spider silk pants, Suru slipped them on and brought a pair of thick boots over them. Meanwhile, she affixed a traveling skirt over the pants, revealing the legs underneath but mainly for ornamental and elegant value as the Illhar'dro symbol was embossed on the back. She slipped a matching snug top with silver lacings and took a very large scarf and wrapped it around her neck. Her clothes and materials had already been brought down to caravans, and grabbing her traveling cloak, she swung the fur lined silvery and shimmery material over her shoulders as she descended back down into the grounds of the fortress.

"Hup, hup.."
Suru said as she launched herself onto the saddle of the clan mount, grabbing the reins, she adjusted herself a little as the enormous bird shifted a little to the new weight. Cooing a soothing song, Suru'sunduiri calmed the bird, whose name was Kil'yru, by stroking the side of its feathered neck. As soon as everything was in order, the bird hastily sped along per Suru's instructions as they clipped towards the merry band of traders and travelers. Fishing her journal out her bag, she did another quick recheck of the things that would be heading to Val'Raveran. The giant lizards snorted and snarled as their caretakers prodded them to awaken, the supplies shifting precariously as the beasts stood up.

"200 pounds of unprocessed spider silk?Check.
120 bolts of spider silk? Check.
50 basins of dye? Check...."

Suru'sunduiri continued along the lines of the traders, making a final confirmation of all the needed supplies. Water, food, mana trackers...all present. Papers for safe passage were all in the order, the few hired mercenaries present...all that were missing were her jovial group of friends. It would be no matter, she would wait. A drow and herself began falling into a conversation about a recent clan's arrival to Chel'el'sussoloth.

"Y'hear about this new clan? They set themselves up near those ruins...call themselves Tei'kaliath."

"Really? Near the Nal'Sarkoth trade route? Do you think they will last long?"

"Yup, right near there. Not sure 'bout them lasting long, y'know how competitive our fine city is. They'll be gone in a moon's turn, mark my words, my lady."

With that, the conversation drifted on to the recent attack on Val'Raveran, what to do with the Nidraa'chal ruins, and the recent influx of Verdrowendar.

((Sooooooo sorry it took so long to reply! :A :A :A ))

Ash'vari arrived in his usual manner, calmly striding along with Killian never far off. His curious eyes scanned the caravan, a glint of experience flitting through various files in his mind, analyzing the bits and pieces of each individual. He had to remind himself that this was no hunting trip for exotic creatures, but a simple trading caravan. No need to get all antsy. Still, his sword and ax were clearly visible on his sash.

"Greetings, Lady Suru! I hope I'm not late!" Ash'vari said politely, walking up to the lady and giving a deep bow. Ash'vari may be Val, but he was certainly humble. His feet were still bare, the boots to which he'd gathered up stored in his bag. He really didn't like wearing shoes. Though, he expected Killian would likely scold him and tell him to wear them eventually, but he could ride it for as long as he could. Oh, lovely protective Killian.

As he stood up straight, he touched his bare stomach briefly, feeling a familiar pain jabbing there, though he didn't let it show on his face. Damn lungs...

"Ah! Lord Val Ash'vari, you are not late at all. We are waiting for one more wagon to come in for the rear with some Chel'el'sussoloth wares to sell in Val'Raveran before we head out."

Suru called out from atop the kanoaka pack lizard as she lightly hopped down with ease and elegance, her light blue pony tail flapping in the wake. The merchants lazed about the area, waiting, chatting or checking their wares. To be included in an Illhar'dro trade caravan or to be associated with this Great Clan was an honor and also an excellent trading opportunity that none could ever doubt. She bowed back to him as he made his greetings.

"I see you are in good health for a trip. We shall be leave on the main exit/entrance towards Val'Raveran. If you wish to rest, I have some quarters already set up on that lizard..."

Her fingers indicated a giant pack lizard with a dark blue tent affixed to it.

"My home is your home, you are free to use it at will. I will be on this lovely fellow for most of the ride."
She patted the clan mount lovingly before swinging herself back up onto the saddle.

Killian did not appear for some time, at least, not circulating anywhere near them while they spoke - instead her curious nature had gotten the better of her for a time, and with the woman's usual tenacity for learning she'd set about speaking to the various merchant and trade specialists helping to organize the trip.

That done, she slowly made her way back down the line to where she'd seen Ash'vari and Suru engaging in conversation, rather a slow pace to give them privacy for a moment - she did tend to suffocate the poor Val with her paranoia. This also meant she trusted Suru, a rare thing for her. But she liked the woman.

"I thank ye, milady." He said with a smile, casually scaling the creatures leg and depositing what goods he had carried himself, sliding back down as he finished. He smiled at the younger drowolath.

"So, what route are we taking?" He asked non-chalantly, excited to finally be on the road again. He did love traveling, even if it did require he wear stuffy footwear.

"Lady Killian, a pleasure to see you again."

Suru chimed in as she adjusted the reins a bit in her hand, in response to Ash'vari's questions, Suru'sunduiri fished out a map of Chel'el'sussoloth in relation to the underworld. Unrolling it, she pointed at their initial point, the Illhar'dro fortress, smack dab in the center of the city and the very one they were in right now.

"There are many routes to Val'Raveran from Chel'el'sussoloth, the main exit from Chel'el'sussoloth is usually very crowded, the traffic rather slow, but the chance of being raided is extremely slim, the mana pool is rather continuous, and in the interest of you, Ash'vari, it would be the safest route despite it being slow traveling. However, we could travel to the Sarghress route to the Surface, which could lead us to Machike and further more, Val'Raveran and it also guarantees safety, and no taxes. The problem I have with using this route is the presence of duergars in the region, and foreign clans usually aren't allowed to pass in it but commoners are. We have slipped by a couple times, but the route to the Sarghress cavern is rather long and it would do more harm than good. I relatively safer route, a joint conjecture shared between the Nal'Sarkoth, Illhar'dro, and merchants alike is in this cavern right here."

Suru indicated the Tei'kaliath cavern.

"There is word a new clan has set themselves up there and we are unaware of their intentions, so we will not touch upon it. I would guess in the interest of safety, the main exit will do well enough, though the taxes and traffic annoy me to no end. I'm pretty sure we can navigate into another tunnel and take a shortcut, but this damn map hasn't been updated yet with new tunnels with all the collapsing. One of my main grievances with using the main exit are the heavy Kyorl patrol, they pop up everywhere you know. Even though we make it a policy not to have any tainted, they always want to shake us up a little to test our purity."

Suru snorted and brushed a stray piece of her hair away, rolling the map back up as she tucked it into her pack.

"All in all, we will be taking the main exit."

[First of all, i'm sorry for taking so long to post, i was traveling. I wanted Rhylagh to be late, but... not THAT late! xD]

"W... W-wait! W-w-wait f-for me!"

The drowling ran as fast as he could, breathing heavily. Rhylagh was all sweaty, the hair even messier than before, falling on his face. Finally, he stopped near Killian, hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath.

"Y... You... weren't leaving... without me... w-were you...?", he asks, looking at her. "Y-you can't leave... without your... b-bodyguard!", and laughs a bit.

Ash'oka confidently strolled through the market of the Ill'hardro fortress with a large traveler's bag slung over his back, his eyes scanning the bustling crowd for his charges. Ash'ilrae, the Dev'ess of the Ist'aven house, had ordered him to follow Ash'vari and his servant on their trip to Val'Raveran. Ash'ilrae had always been quite protective of the old halfbreed, and disliked the prospect of him traveling with no Sullisin'rune compatriots, at least enough to send Ash'oka to watch over him. Hmpf. Fitting that they send a male like me for some job like this. At least it sounds safe… thought Ash'oka.

It was clear to any onlookers that Ash'oka was of the Sullisin'rune clan. The mismatched eyes, the distinctive facial markings, the blue and gold dyed hair, and his bold and stylish attire made that apparent. Ash'oka wore loose-fitting blue silk trousers along with a gold-embroidered blue vest open to show off his well-sculpted torso. Two curved swords sat in their scabbards placed in the sash at his waist, and he carried his armor along with provisions and other supplies in the bag he carried over his shoulder.

The sight of a figure clad in rich gold and blue colored clothing, climbing upon a pack lizard, caught Ash'oka's attention. Ash'oka's eyes narrowed upon the same figure sliding back down to the ground. It had to be him! Ash'oka hurried over to the caravan. The caravan appeared to be preparing for departure, given what he heard from the Ill'hardro female speaking to Ash'vari and his servant Killian.

"Lord Ash'vari…you know Dev'ess Ash'ilrae doesn't like you to travel without supervision," Ash'oka joked, expecting the elder drow and his servant to recognize him. "Allow me to introduce myself," he added, turning to the others present. "I'm Ash'oka, of the Ist'aven house. I take it our Ill'hardro hosts wouldn't mind another hand to help with the caravan?" said Ash'oka with a sly grin.

Remained relatively solitary for the initial conversation and observation made by the other four; one following another in terms of entry. Curious individuals, but a common, unfortunate misconception involved a particularly ignorant belief: `Commoners`. No one person was `common` of blood, being, or nature.
But the quiet, stoic Killian said nothing. Simply making mental notes when approaching the group.
Eyes silently drifted over Ash's comrade, his kin.
Fashionable of course, but something about their attire always seemed eccentric.

Regardless adventure was on the horizon, another frontier; she read in books what places people investigated. But imagination and application danced on a thin line, stretched taught by logical thought. She knew stories through second hand accounts about cities, places, and races. Interacting with often outweighed reading about, though she'd never sacrifice her library of literature.
She so rarely left the dome on her own, that it was very much her `adventure` to dive into a new novel or scholarly text book.

Ash'vari was taken a bit off guard by the sudden arrival of his fellow house member. Not forgotting his usual charm and manner, Ash'vari gave a sincere bow in greeting. Ash'vari was fond of all his clansmen, respecting them, knowing full well that they were quite skilled.

"Greetings, Ash'oka! It is a pleasure to see you. Is our lovely Lady Val really so concerned for my safety? I do have my Little Ember guarding me after all. Regardless you are quite welcome, so long as Lady Suru has no objections."
Ash'vari said, giving his flirtatious smile to Suru as he spoke. More members of his house was never a bad thing, it really just left more room for progress, as well as familiar company.

"Ah, it seems as Sir Rhylagh has deemed it worthy to join our humble entourage. Child, you may put your pack up upon my kanoaka over there. She has my House Symbol emblazoned on her side, we were just about to leave and we were so worried we would be leaving without our little knightling."

Suru chuckled as she ruffled the young drowling's head and swung her legs back over the saddle of her mount. The wise bird peered at Ash'waren, Killian, and recently arrived Ash'oka with some curiosity. cocking its head to the side and snapping at the air with its beak as the new Sullisin arrived. A typical splendor, Suru thought as she tucked some hair behind her ears, the Sullisin'rune truly are a marvel in how much skin they show. A radiant smile lit upon Suru'sunduiri's face as the male approached the trio.

"Greetings Lord Ash'oka Ist'aven Val'Sullisin'rune, I am Suru'sunduiri Sariyassinsuurul Illhar'dro. I had expected more compatriots of Ash'vari so it does not surprise me in the least. The Vals hardly travel with one, albeit one very brilliant, escort. I have quarters up on the kanaoka, you may stash your belongings up there if you wish. As you can see I haven't the least of objections, more the merrier I say. Lord Ash'vari, are we to expect any more guests? We are about ready to go."

Ash'oka gave a wide grin and a respectful bow in response. "And it is a pleasure to meet you too, Ash'vari, Killian, and Suru'sunduiri." The Tiger Knight knew that Ash'vari rarely went anywhere without being accompanied by his attractive, though deadly, servant. Still, Ash'ilrae felt better with someone accompanying Ash'vari on such long trips. The Ill'hardro female, though not a Val, was certainly wealthy enough to afford attire worthy of one. Quite friendly, too. "Thank you, madam Suru'sunduiri. I shall go find suitable quarters...I trust Ash'vari and Killian have found such already?" asked Ash'oka rhetorically.

The Sullisin'rune then climbed upon the koa'naka's back and entered the living quarters. The room was furnished with various throw rugs and pillows, and tapestries depicting the surface were hung upon the walls. Certainly spacious…and well furnished thought Ash'oka as he put down his traveling bag and hung up his gear. He took special care to place his armor and unstrung steel bow in a safe location. Hopefully he wouldn't need to wear it, but he always did look spectacular in armor. Many would say that I looked better without armor…, Ash'oka said to himself as he checked his reflection in the mirror.

Once he was done storing his gear, Ash'oka hopped down to ground floor. Some young ruffian had arrived, apparently a fellow traveler. "Yes…are we all ready to head on out? I for one can't wait to be on the road. It's been far too long since I last left Chel." It was true that most Sullisin'rune tended to stay close to home, unlike clans such as the Ill'hardro, Nal'sarkoth, or Sarghress, yet Ash'oka didn't mind travel in the slightest, quite the contrary in fact.

"Not to my knowledge. Even if they are, they'll catch up in no time, I'm sure." Ash'vari said, turning and gracefully hopping up the leg of the giant beast of burden and into the cabin, depositing his belongings before sliding back out the door.

"Let's get going shall we?" Ash'vari said with an adventerous smile. Yes, this would be so grand... more to see, out of Chel, this was quite brilliant!
