In EQ my main character was a male Wood Elf Ranger was named Solanthos, it fit, it worked from day one, most of my old MMORPG friends still call me Solan, even tho my forum name there is also BlackFulcrum.
In WoW my male Orc Warrior was named Reathyr, it also fit, it also worked from day one, my WoW guildies all called me Reath, and yet there my forum name is also BlackFulcrum.
And I identify with both names, if anyone on the street would call out to me like that, where they've never been used, I'd still respond, they are me.
To put it in other words, the name has to not only fit the character, her looks, her background, but it has to be something I can identify with myself too, like Solanthos, like Reathyr, it has to make that connection in my head when I look at that name, "that's me, that's that character", and the current one just doesn't.
