Mae turned to little Tal. "You are crazy little man. I hope you don't end up killing yourself competing with the Amssags with a ruptured gut or something I heard Trinita talk about." Kinda think of it he was suppose to be here. Mae thought to herself. "I'm bowing out of this. There enough free food as it is. I don't need to spoil it."

It was then a embrie came up to Mae with some of her food she ordered. "Badass thank you sir." Of course the goblin didn't understand a lick of what she said but knew when someone was happy.

Tur'geis raised his tankard of mead with Die'tra in salute. "Best save that for the wolves, I say," he said to Die'tra upon her mentioning the lost barrel of chicken. "We may not have the time to savor the taste at any rate." Tur'geis would just have to enjoy his food in between large gulps of beer. There would be enough time for him to do so, getting started with eating too early would just make one sick.

The Am'saag was a bit surprised at Taldrin's claims, but seeing was believing. When Tur'geis was a young lad, he himself could put away food like a ravenous beast. "May the gods see fit to give us an entertaining contest!" he roared before taking a hearty pull from his mead tankard.

-You have a good point Mae, but let's just admit the little guy has the fighting spirit! -Die'tra nodded with a smirk towards the two, than raised her mug to cheer with her mate - May the goddesses keep our steels sharp and our mugs full! With it she almost drunk the whole keg for one breath for she was thirsty already, hit the table with the mug and break for taking a breath. She took a look around to find eye contact with one of their hosts. -Anyway, i missed to catch what's gonna be the winning prize, huh? - asked with a grin.

The Am'saag woman did raised a good point.
The mention of all-you-could-eat emberi food, for just one gold coin, was for him quite a thing in itself.
But now, he had a chance to compete against two Am'saag. The first time he actually met some, but not the first time he heard of them.
Something was annoying him a little in their attitude. Or it was something deeper. With this name, he could see his mother's hateful face.
But Taldrin had enough discipline, and no grief against anyone there.
"I have no fear in facing my opponents. Be they drows or food." he simply said, sitting at the contest table.
Sharess, he still sure hoped the drinks to be strong alcohol shots, and not those huge mugs... He was a huge eater, but not much a drinker!

"When all our contestants have been seated we shall begin." The elder at the heads of the table said, a moment later one of the younger servers approached the group, "Elder say need sit down to start contest."

Meanwhile Boki was walking with his great grandmother to his parents. "I hear a few complaints about the guests you bring, Great Grandson." "I'm afraid so. Our cultures are so very different, there's bound to be some...clashes." "Yes...Nephew Yuia isn't helping things much. He's happy to have their steel, but apparently not so much that he'd care for his daughter and son to be seduced by one of their kind." "Yes, that was a bit dramatic...and well...they are somewhat alluring, and exotic. And they can be rather skilled..." Boki didn't realize he said that last part out loud. "Oh? Should I expect a long eared great great grandson?" Boki's face went deep red and he stammered as he tried to speak and the old woman croaked out a laugh, "I'm joking Boki. I know you haven't had much luck finding love in Wu Kong." "I haven't really found it outside Wu Kong either..." The old woman smiled, "Well...you'll find it some day. I'd love to bounce another great great grandchild on my knee. Or to just have them visit me at the family Shrine when I join with the Spirits. Even if they do have long ears." She teased Boki again, just as they got to the stall where his parents were set up.

"Well hes not under your watch. So when his *gulp* stomach erupts. Because that is apparently a thing and I don't want to explain to my bitch mother that happened under my watch." Lord knows shes not going to write that in as her excuse if comes to that. She'll probably just end up saying Dysentery in the paper and hope her mother doesn't know any better.

"Oh shite", Mae muttered as the locals got a little uppity about the drow being in the eating contest. She may not have understood everything but it wasn't hard to see an unhappy crowd. "You know guys I think it would be better just to not have the raiders in your competition." Mae said to Boki as she watched at Die tipped a Keg back.

Tur'geis drained his mug along with Die'tra before placing it back on the table. "Who knows, maybe it's just a full belly and bragging rights!" Tur'geis said in reply to his mate's question. Taldrin said he was ready to face them but something about his body language showed that he was a bit apprehensive about facing off against the two Highland Raiders.

A lot of the Emberi in the crowd were already showing impatience if not annoyance about the drow having a contest to themselves. So far it didn't seem like it'd get ugly but Tur'geis remained on guard.

- Oh yeah, it's something already worth to come here! Ahaha! - Die'tra laughed at Tur'geis, than followed where Mae looked and she also saw some of the villagers seemed to be unhappy with the fact the drows feast on their drinks and foods. The female slightly shrugged her shoulders. - They shall be happy we ain't entering the arena. - she muttered to Mae - It's all 'bout making friends. I'm becoming very friendly when my mug is full.
Maybe they can expect some trouble later with certain drunken villagers, but not something they can not handle. Don't even have to crush skulls to get them to sleep, though she didn't planned to start a fight in this place tonight. Die'tra slightly raised her mug again before started drinking her second round, and above her mug, she stared at the little one called Taldrin shamelessly with deep, serious eyes, not even care if he notice it. It had no sensual purpose, only she somehow felt the bothering sureness she saw his face somewhere before. - Hey you, little boy, we hadn't met before, had we?

Taldrin looked at Mae and then at the emberis people.
"If they feel it that unfair that we participate in festivities when we were first invited to take part in it" he started saying, clear and calm, more addressing to Boki than anyone else, "then we can say the food contest is set for the locals on one hand, and for visiting drows on the other hand. Separated. Then nothing is "unfair" anymore"."

Taldrin could not fail to notice Die'tra's insistent look on him.
He quickly repositionned his glasses.
The way she was looking at him was annoying. But he had way enough self-control not to let it show too much.
He was always the unnoticeable one, the one everyone knew until they were asked questions about him. Except no one were asking questions about him.
And that was perfect this way!

He jumped at being called a "little boy" - jumped by his standards but still!
Taldrin repositionned his glasses again, slower so to let the hint of annoyance disappear from his face.
"I hardly think so."
Something was going on. A staring duel.
He was sure he never met Die'tra, but the way she was feeling confident about it...
"Unless maybe you're a slaver, but i don't recall stabbing you." Now, that was bluff. He had a number of "altercations" with slavers (namely, fighting for his freedom in Chel streets until he was old enough to have less to fear from them), but he never stabbed any. Not that he wouldn't have loved it.
"But you Am'saag people are good at that, don't you?"
The world around almost vanished. It was him and that Die'tra.
Their eyes locked, she could see into his bright blue eyes that his bonhomie was a surface thing. Deep, a strong figthing spirit was burning. A proud blue flame facing without fear the green cat-like eyes of Die'tra Am'saag.
"Or maybe you can see the face of a throat-cut Am'saag on his bastard son's face?" Taldrin whispered to her opponent.
Aware he was breaking his cold and quiet image, Taldrin let it go and turned around, his mask back in place with its polite smile.
"So, are you having the food contest this way? Mae and I had nothing since a while, so if not, i'd rather go find somthing to have your bellies filled!"

Boki had returned to the group, he looked to Mae, "It is the Elder's decision at this point," he started to whisper before he remembered he was one of the few that could fluently speak drow, and spoke normally, "It is something that the elders agreed on. I have told them your kind is slowly coming out of the underground more and more." He gestured, to some of the drow sitting at the tables oblivious to the small amount of anger directed at them and waiting to gorge themselves on food, "They are an example of what is coming. They have agreed it would be much better if your kind is welcomed as friends, as our village could probably not even defend against a well armed squad of your relic hunters, let alone if you used your Arts as you call it. While there are nearby Halme villages, we as Emberi are alone here. No help would come if 'Black Devils' decided to enslave us." He pointed to the tables again, the large woman banging her mug on the table as the rest waited for the last contestants to sit down. "Do not let a few angry loud mouths scare you, most of the village does welcome your kind here." Boki had looked over at Tur'geis, "Well that too, but the first place winner of either contest this year gets an ox calf. They are suppose to be good luck because they were born twins during a Spirit Song. The two runners up will get 10 chickens and a steel tool of their choice."
Boki would look at Die'tra and Taldrin as they had their staring contest. "Err...is something wrong?"
An elder would walk up to the group and clear his throat, "Nephew Boki...are your friends going to enter the contest or not?"

"I don't know. I'm not going to stand here and defend and bunch of Embries." She said between swallowing another spoonful of rice. Damn this stuff is good.

But something unexpected happened. Tal didn't like the looks Die'tra was giving him or the question for that matter... Strange. "I doubt anything would happened to your village Boki. Nals like your food and trade, and similar could be said for the Sarghress."

Tur'geis grinned before attacking the rest of his food and drink. "Food isn't bad at all, it isn't." He nodded at Die'tra's comment about the arena, gesturing with a mostly-eaten leg of pork to make a point. "I still wish we could have joined in!" exclaimed Tur'geis. Well, not after eating, of course.

"Not a bad award there," Tur'geis told Boki, an impressed look on his face. If one already had a herd a calf would make a good addition. 10 chickens and a steel tool would go quite far as well. "But what else can your tribe offer to us in exchange for defense?" grunted the male Am'saag after draining his mug.

The male Raider cocked his ears as he heard Die'tra speak to Taldrin. Taldrin whispered something back that Tur'geis couldn't quite make out. Whatever it was, the smaller male's quiet demeanor seemed to break away into a more passionate, perhaps angered feeling in that moment. Tur'geis made a note to speak to Die'tra later about what happened.

===========================================================================================================
((Pretty much gonna leave it open, no need to PM anymore))
Prologue
The Halderi trodded along the simple path along a river bank, packed high with supplies and a pouting Val Child as someone in Explorer armor lead the duo. "I'm bored." the young Val said. "I'm aware, Lady Ukan'nahla." "Comon, can't we go back to Chel?" "No...your mother gave strict instructions." Is this my punishment for sending that letter off with the Sarghress? He had assumed his punishment would be death, though he wasn't quite sure if this was worse or better. The Val pouted and pulled a wooden mask down over her face, mumbling, "Some Scourge you are..." "That's because I'm not a Scourge, I'm your body guard. And we have to get to the next campsite before nightfall." "Why?" "Because those demons you're so fond of destroyed nearly every mana plant on the surface at the end of the Moon's age. And the Goblins who's village we are going to have planted mana plants at the campsite for travelers." "Han'ya, what are those?" She pointed to some flags on sticks that had been stuck in the ground up ahead, he looked at them as well, "Surveyor's flags I think." The path grew narrower, and there were flags tied to trees now. "This must be that road they're talking about..." The path cleared again, and another clearing near the path was visible, soft glowing lights hanging from the trees. A rough wooden sign confirmed it, written in Drow, Emberi, and Halme, 'Rest Stop' "Good, we're here...I know you're not going to listen if I tell you to stay here, so just don't go too far off while I set up camp. But please try not to start another forest fire..." The little Val nearly jumped off the pack beast she was on, and started bounding around the clearing, giggling madly. Han'yia tethered the Halderi to a post and unpacked things, setting up the tent near the firepit that was already dug. "Hey, bodyguard, there's people coming!" Han took the Tomahawk he had in hand and put the other on his rapier.

Mae sat on a porch, playing a game humans called domino's. Flat, little rectangle shapes, with dimples numbering them. It certainly a more interesting game then dice, that's for sure. She'll have to buy one and take it home to Raven.

"Damn so close." Mae crused as she sat back in a large chair. Her black wolf named Chezz laid under a shady tree, snoring quietly. Lazy fuck. Mae muttered to herself. She was out of her armor and light clothing for a change. Wearing armor sucked over a period of time.

Taldrin was on the way back to the village after a little scouting around, and training few of Wu Kong youths.
Boki's nephew gave up after two days, and that made Taldrin despite him since the teen just stopped showing up, having him wait for nothing.
But quickly, two other ones showed up. First a young emberi girl, Huo Ki, came and respectfully asked him to teach her. She needed Boki to translate for her but it was pretty clear the girl knew of the hardship warrior training was. And she had no romantic ideas of a warrior's life. She wanted to be able to fight and protect her family and her village. That alone made Taldrin more optimistic about her.
Two days later, a young lumberjack, Soshi, joined them.
Taldrin was pleased with both of them. Soshi was strong already, and learning quickly.
Huo Ki was dedicated, conscious that lifes could depend on the results of her training.

On the way back from the woods where Taldrin trained them running despite obstacles and tumbling exercices, they spotted a little convoy. He made the way to it and had the surprise of meeting up two non merchant drows. Not even commoners, as it seems.
-Greetings. I am Taldrin, soldier of the Sarghress clan. Here are Huo Ki and Soshi, from Wu Kong village that I believe is your destination. Are you in need of directions or escorting?"
