Trinita was impressed with Sari'yas and his face showed it. Few drows saw the short lived humans that kind of light. For a 'Barbarous' scorpion, she was very knowing.

He held in a chuckle when Sari'yas was giving him a hard time, trying to get him a free ride with Boki. The Sarghress prided himself on many things but they where hard to penetrate to get him going. "Ah, but who would stand by your side if we were waylaid, my lady scorpion." He said as he took her side like he has this whole trip and winked. "I'm Sarghress raider, I've walked the harsh deserts to and back, during a civil war." He boasted. "I'm sure my fever can last a little longer."

Boki would lead the group closer into town, a crowd had gathered near the Inn as word of Boki's return had spread. The Explorers had dismounted and gathered up their gear, heading for the Inn right away as they started to talk among themselves. They were greeted by a well dressed pair of older Emberi speaking broken Drow, "Explorer Welcome! Room need how many?" As they went inside the Explorers followed them in. Boki was busy passing out goods from the underworld, calling out names as he passed around tool heads and a few other things as some of the townspeople started to celebrate and thank him. The crowd would eventually die down a bit as everyone got their payment from the sales in Raveran. There were still a few loitering about to gawk at the new Drow in the village as Boki was talking to a younger Emberi man wearing a headband and heavy leather apron, "This is Mika'yalh Illhar'dro, she will be your new Master and teach you how to work iron and steel. Please be respectful to her as I don't think she like's being here. Pay attention and learn everything you can from her." The bored Illhar'dro looked around a bit as she hung near the cart and her equipment. Boki introduced the two as the Neron bowed deeply to Mika'yalh, "This is Neron, your new apprentice." "Very please meet you Sera Mika'yalh Illhar'dro." "He will take you to his forge tomorrow, today we'll help you move into your room in the Inn." He turned to Sari and Trinita, "You can go in as well, tell Uncle Pei that I will pay for any rooms you and your group might need. You'll have to pay for your own food though, I made that mistake once with a group of Explorers and they left with everything my uncle had in his Larder." he chuckled, "That was expensive."

Aside from the storehouses the Inn was the largest building in the village, three stories tall, a nice garden that was giving off a small amount of mana. The main room was spacious tavern style dining hall and took up almost the entire first floor, with a kitchen taking up the rest. The Explorers we're already seated at a long table, drinking some wine and going over some maps. A pair of young women were acting as servers as Uncle Pei was pouring drinks and Aunty Wei Yao was walking in and out of the kitchen with various bits of food. A warm fire in the center of the room was the focal point of the Inn.

"Oh, so, if the wolf can survive this fever then..." Sari'yas said, looking at the horizon casually, but not pushing back the wolf.

When they arrived at Wu Kong, she was impressed by how popular Boki was. She knew he was somehow important, but to such an extend? She mentally congratulated herself to have always show a good face to him. Any trade she might try here would be much eased, even if she haven't planned that much trading. Mostly getting fooder, some wood pieces and alcohols. And paper and ink if possible.

She felt grateful as the emberi even offrered them the housing. They were no possible comparison between how they were welcomed here and how most non drow were at home... Even drows...
She looked at her group. The few Raiders should be dealed by Trinita. And the three commoners who came could share one same room?
"So, one or two for the Raiders?" she asked Trinita. "But you wanted a big warm bed, so maybe not sharing a room with many people, heh?"
"And two for you" she said, turning to the commoners. On a second thought, she felt uneasy letting the girl on the same room as the two guys.
"Then one for me..."
Sari'yas suddenly remembered something. "Ancestors kick my ass for that!" she cussed for herself.
"Hey Boki? You remember that noisy brat who dared insult you and your family?" she asked, standing straight and damn serious. "Anyway, here is for you..." Sari'yas added, handing a piece of fold paper from an inner pocket in her coat. Once opened, the paper showed one unique word, written in emberi. Or more exactly, something looking like a writting, for it was miserable, askew, but the word was readable. Just a poorly written "sorry".

"Well. Have you ever been in a human bed before? Human aren't exactly up to drow standards in height." He put his hand up to a level where most embrie beds stood compared to him. "But I'm not tried yet, what do you say to a drink. And maybe I might share a story or two."

This Boki character sure knew how to keep good drow relations in the village. Every now and again Trinita even saw drow craftsmen ships and tools here. Not much but considering the village short comings (Mostly because they are human.) they are doing well.

"The rooms are much appreciated Boki." Trinita turned to the portly embrei and spoke with a slight accent in his tongue. Some of his explore clansmen can take advantage of generosity, it didn't surprise him to hear that they ate him his uncle out the house. Hopefully he could think of something to make up for such short comings. "What has the area been like as of late? I'd gladly share a drink with you if you have the time." Seeing how popular he was, he might be a while before settling down.

Boki simply smiled and nodded to Sari, "Ahh, I had forgotten about that." he made a sweeping gesture with his hand, "I'm sure it will not be the first time or last time one of our kind insults another. I hope you didn't hear Uncle Kwa calling you Dagger Ears as you passed him. He's still upset because...well..." he blushed slightly, "A female Raider got a little...too friendly with his eldest Son and Daughter after a LOT of wine." he waved his hand as if to dismiss it. "I remember when I first saw some of your kind near my favorite ruin, I charged at them with nothing but a stick out of fear. Uncle, some Wild Berry wine and three glasses please?" He raised his hand up and his uncle acknowledged after pouring another round of drinks for the explorers. "They just sort of looked at me as I realized how much bigger and well armored they were compared to me. Thankfully they didn't grasp what happened and one spoke to me in my own tounge. Asked if I was from around here, or knew of any 'old places'. I took them to a stash I had collected over the year, and they opened a door with some of their Mana. It was rather fun, and afterwards I led them to the village and they spent a lot of gold here for food and supplies. That sort of made me the 'hero' of the town I am now. And of course now that I'm bringing in steel tools and other things it's just getting better." he stroked his chin a moment, "Well I've been on the road mostly between here and Raveran, but I do hear the occasional thing. There's some fighting up north in the desert kingdoms, the Hermionne and Halmes mostly from what I hear. Our town Healer fled from that, I think he might have been a soldier before. We have the Harvest Festival coming up soon, I hope to finish up another delivery and be back before then. I think I might win the wrestling contest this time, I've been practicing against Ro." Uncle Pei had showed up with a bottle of wine and some goblets, "What would you and you guests like to eat beloved Nephew. Perhaps some of my Pickled Chicken?" Boki spoke up almost as if to interrupt him from finishing, "Uh, a large bowl of fried rice, some steamed fish, two slab of Aunty Wei Yao's spicy pork, and a bowl of dumplings would do nicely." Pei nodded and turned to Sari and Trinita, "And what would you two like? My Pickled Chicken is delicious! And for you two no pay for it." Boki's smile faded completely to a look of fear as he shook his head and made a waving 'no' gesture with his hands at the mention of Pickled Chicken. Resuming his smile and stopping the gesture when Uncle Pei turned to him for a moment before turning back to the two Drow.

"Oh, so you're doing one more travel, right before the festival? How industrious of you!" Sari'yas said to Boki.
She smiled whan she imagined a young, maybe child Boki, charging drow raiders... Yes, it was fortunate they did not killed him.
She was also pleased to see the troubles in Chel or Raveran did not had any consequences so for on the small Emberi village. But those other humes fights were becoming more than an annoyance. She heard stories from clan fellows who had to face greedy Hermiones and desperate Halmes.
When the "Uncle Pei" came to ask them what they wished to eat, and Boki made such a face and gestures, Sari'yas tried to stay somehow serious.
"Well, I may try just the same thing as our nice host here, but thank you very much for the offer." Whatever Boki ordered, this would be better than what he tried to save them for.
"And "Dagger Ear" is rather... cute!" she said, smiling at him and playing with one of her ear.

"Small bed, alcohol, and travel stories? Are you trying to get a little too friendly here?" she asked Trinita with a wink. On the meantime, unnoticed by almost all, she just footsied him a bit, gently.

Trinita nodded at Boki telling him the news from the deserts. It sounds like there's still serious fighting that way. It was interesting to hear that a healer managed to flee from the travesties. "Thank you Boki." He also couldn't keep his face from brightening up at the mention of food. Human food was the best. "I don't know here to being to thank you Boki. I'll have a bowl of fried rice and pickled chicken and some steamed fish. And ale if you have it."

Taking a seat at one of the long tables, Trinita turned to his Scorpion traveling companion. "Too friendly? I'm just trying to be a good traveling companion." He smiled at her and noticed her foot nudging him. "... How could I not be friendly to such a nice traveling companion." He blushed slightly and stuttered slightly. "Have you done much traveling yourself?"

Uncle Pei grinned and bowed then turned towards the kitchen, shouting "Wei, Squad size bowl of fried rice, 5 steamed fish 3 orders of dumplings, 3 orders of spicy pork, and bring out an order of Pickled Chicken from the cellar!" A head popped out of a window, "Boki must be back, and who would be crazy enough to eat your disgusting chicken? I'll make him a regular order." Pei went into the back, arugeing could be heard as the door swung closed, "Damnit woman! If someone wants to eat my Chicken they'll eat it, I don't want to hear-" and the noise died down.
Boki sighed, "I'm sorry, I tried to warn you not to get the Pickled Chicken." keeping his voice low as he looked around, "I wouldn't feed it to a murderer as punishment." Boki opened the bottle of wine and poured in the three glasses, "Uncle Pei is a strange man when it come to taste, and he gets some crazy ideas in his head about recipes. Just be glad he's out of his Sawdust Stew phase. This is a wine that we make from wild berries growing in the nearby woods. It's quite sweet, not as sweet as mead however, but more flavorful, try some." The door swung open again as Uncle Pei kept arguing with Aunt Wei Yao, "He didn't die because of my Pickled Chicken! He ate the salt from your salt baked fish and didn't have enough water." he came back to the table with a flagon full of ale, smiling as if he didn't just have a screaming contest with his wife, "It will just be a moment, Oh Boki, I think your Father and Elder Mau De are coming here tonight." More villagers started to come into the Inn now, some men going to the bar to order drinks while women and children were at tables. Some of the younger women showed up, braiding their hair in a tight bun and heading into the back to help in the kitchen and wait tables.

"My? A lot of travels? Lemme see... Travelled several times to Chel, lived there for few little years, and escort missions from Rav to the surface, be it to my clan's mobile campements or to surface outposts. Hmmmm, yes a number of travels, but mostly dealing with drows and halmes. Occasionally duergars. So yes, a nice number of travels!" she ansewered to Trinita.
"Speaking of halmes, your place should be safe from them. Even if they came so far, as long as drows are here, they shall be spooked enough for not annoy you too much. Not as courageous as Boki."

Listening to Boki's explanations and hearing the little fight, Sari'yas looked surprised?
"Can surface food be so bad? Really? Oh, I thank you for the drink! I have few things in my cart... In my room by now" she quickly corrected, spotting the teen drow back from stroing chore. "Good girl. Well, yes, I have few things in my room that might interest you or the villagers, Boki. But I prefer offer it to youfirst. Some hot spice my clan produce. Nice underworld silk, too. And jade."

"What is exactely this festival?" Sari asked, taking a small notebook. "Some annual ceremony? You fight for it?"

Trinita sipped the ale he was handed by one of the waitresses. Human ale was always a preference when he could afford it. "Is it that bad?" The Sarghress leaned in closer to Boki. A part of him regretted the choice he made, but he has eaten some what barely passed as food for living sometimes. The rice and fish will make up for it if it sucks. "Shit, oh well. But I will take you up for the wine." And waved the girl over for some.

Sharess things where busy here. I guess drows bring attention.

Trinita began to tell the story of the civil war. How his group joined a caravan and found their way to the bad lands, and fought themselves a pride of war trained lions that attacked a farming settlement. He then continued onwards to when they found some worth while relics, only to have to leave them behind as the city they where in, got surrounded and had a month long siege before crumbling.

half the raiders didn't make it and he had to lead them out part of the way.

Boki tried to not bad mouth his uncle too much, "Well...it was filling...it just didn't taste very good...very vinegary. I couldn't taste things properly for a moon after that..." He shrugged a bit, "It's edible at least...but yes its the Harvest festival next week. There's games and contests, largest pig, best looking horns on an Ox, nicest garden, some strength competitions for the men, best flower arrangement, things like that. There's also going to be dancing and music, as well as a small bon fire where we burn a little of the harvest for the Spirits. I'm going to be in the wrestling competition this year, hopefully I'll win. I almost won the tree chopping competition last year. I still say Elder Feno picked a tree with dry rot for his son, but..." he simply shrugged as if to ignore it. He listened to Trinita for a bit, "My parents used to be part of a caravan run to that city before I was born, and I think I've met Dice on my first day in the underworld, small world isn't it?"
Pei came back with a plate, a whole chicken on it. It looked a sickly green and didn't appear to be cooked at all...just...pickled. The conversation stopped as Pei hung around, waiting for Trinita to eat the chicken before an Emberi girl almost as tall as a Drow with a long braid came by with a covered platter, "Uncle, Aunty needs your help in the kitchen." Uncle Pei sighed and turned to head into the back, "What is it now woman?" The waitress quickly swapped plates with Trinita before he could grab a bite, almost before anyone could know what happened, and the the whole chicken was replaced with a half eaten one, "No Eat, Sera, tell Uncle is too salty." and she went out the front door to dispose of it just as Pei came back out, Boki had to keep himself from snickering out loud when he realized what just happened, "OH, you enjoy, yes?" A moment later two more girls were carrying a large bowl of fried rice and 3 smaller bowls, setting it down on the table as the smaller girl stayed behind to arrange silverware and bowls on the table as the other retreated to the kitchen, coming back balancing 5 plates on her arms, hands and head, setting most of it down in front of Boki and the rest in front of Sari, and another girl set a platter of steamed fish in front of him. Boki was already starting to eat when his food arrived.

Sari'yas listened to Trinita's stories with much interest, and then to Boki's explanations about this harvest festival.
"You have your chances in the wresting, I say. This festival sounds a big thing that should gather a lot of people and keep everyone bu- What is...!" she stopped just in time before saying "that haledri fecal horror" as the green duck was bring on the table. She couldn't help a grateful nod and look at the girls as they took that away.
"I fully understand what you meant, Boki of Wu Kong! Here Wolfie, take some more from my, I have far enough food!"
That food was awesome, and the "pickled chicken" would be a funny story to tell back home. "Maybe I should bring back one of those "pickled chicken", it is a nice idea to use it as punishment! My Illhar might like the irony of that!" Sari said, making sure that "uncle Pei" could not hear her.
"This wine is great too!"

After he was done telling probably his most dangrous adventure he has ever taken. Trinita listened to Boki had to say about the festival, it sounded like clean good fun. Something he didn't get a chance to stop and enjoy. When the pickled chicken arrived Trinita ears noticeably slumped. "Can you cook this." He pointed to the raw meat. "You'll kill somebody serving this."
He should know, growing up in the east wing hospital of the Sarghress compound.

Taking his bowel of rich and cooked fish, he mixed the two togeather and started to chow down. "Kiliz will never be the same." Not that he had any attachments to the city. But it was rich with trade and big loss to the area. Trinita turned his head to Sari'ya "Its a sad joke." He said in drow about the chicken she seemed so amused about, "But thank you for sharing." She smiled at her, wondering how he could return the favor as he took a little bit of her share. "Sharess. This is fine wine."

The door to the Inn opened, a very old looking woman was accompanied by a well dressed Emberi that looked like a skinnier version of Boki. To any Drow the woman would instantly be recognizable as a Rift Halme, she used a walking stick in front of her as the much younger man walked with her, holding onto her arm. She wore a green decorated silk robe over her simple clothing as the pair made their way to Boki and company's table. Whispers of "Good Evening Elder" filtered about as she passed tables. Boki stood, bowed deep, "Good Evening Elder Mau De." The old woman tapped the area with her cane a few times in Boki's direction before tapping his foot, she then whacked him in the shin with her cane, "Great Grandmother is a greater honor than Elder Mau De, Boki. You'll remember to use it when you address me. It sounds so impersonal." The old woman sat down at the table with a little help from Boki and her grandson. She smelled the air a moment, "Well, are you going to be rude or are you going to introduce me to your two friends, their not from around here, that much I can tell." "I'm sorry Great Grandmother, this is Sari'yas Aqrab'akkar, and Trinita Sarghress." He looked to his two drow companions, "This is my Great Grand Mother, Elder Mau De, I suppose you could call her the Illhar of our village. She's been alive since before the village was founded, she was born shortly before the Exodus really, that was bout 80 years ago. And this is my father Ikooba Yanyean. He trades with the Halmes to the north occasionally. But he's been staying near the village lately since his knee was injured." Ikooba simply bowed his head to the two Drow and smiled before taking a seat, ordering some food from Uncle Pei. The Mau De tugged on Boki's sleave, "Where did you learn to speak like that Boki? I haven't heard thous kinds of words since my Mother and Father's generation had passed. And they never taught it to us."

Re: Wu Kong Village -1114- -Surface- (Open)

Postby Tsukiko » Wed Jul 24, 2013 5:53 pm

((This shall be my last post for a while, since i'm leaving on morning of July 25th, unless i can post something on the morning.))

Conscious that she had chocked Trinita, she welcomed even more the arrival of the Wu Kong "Illhar". She did not wished to be poorly regarded by a wolf she came to like.
Yet, she was surprised to see a Rift Halme was the ancestor and Illhar of Emberis. Could that be the same as dark elves and drowolaths?
Even if she was blind, Sari'yas tried not to stare too much at her, so not to be impolite.
Once Boki introduced them to that Elder Mau De and thus to his father too, Sari'yas respectfully bow at them -mostly at the "Illhar".
"Greetings, Illhar Elder Mau De! I am Sari'yas Aqrab'akkar, of Raveran." She was yet a little embarassed of this unplanned meeting. She was supposed to establish as good relationships as possible with the local, since she was the first Aqrab to come here. Some of her clan had a temporary camp up northeast, but at few days riding.
She was to make presents, and give a good impression, and here she was, dirty from the journey, and presents in her room...
"Boki, could you do me the great favor of translating a few to your Illhar?" If only she could have taken along her nephew here! I would have loved it, and he could speak way more Emberi than her!
"I have, in my name and my clan's, to express you a lot of gratitude for the nice welcoming of your people, especially in such a busy time for you. May the celebration of Wu Kong harvest be a good omen for a long, friendly link between your people and mine" she said, still bowing. She thought every word she said, and hoped to have it right since she was not that used to Emberi people.
Just then she did realised she had something she could hope to be a fine present, for a first meeting with a leader of another house. At least in Aqrab'akkar ways, by giving away something very personal she cared for. Reaching her neck, she took off the pendant under her coat. It was her clan symbol, that she herself had shaped out of ivory from a surface animal. She knew it had some value at home, and read it had a nice one for Emberis too. She focused to gather her knowledge of Emberi language, so not to bother too much Boki.
"Here token will, for futur trade of us and you. Me give Illhar of Wu Kong token good work trade. Greetings!"
