Mount and Blade

Anyone here play mount in Blade if you do please state your experiences and opinions on it. I personally find the game very enjoyable and have played it allot It is strangely addicting and the feel of Large Field battles is incredible I really recommend the Battle sizer mod as the huge battles it allows are really epic and if you have a large elite army actually easier then the base system which will only spawn in a small portion of your army.

If you don't play it or know anything about it let me explain the basics to you: it is a low fantasy medieval action PC rpg based around a fairly fun and intuitive combat system that emphasizes mounted combat. The default game is set in a fictional country called Calradia mostly based off Europe and and the near east(North africa, Middle east, and the steppe regions of Asia.) in the high middles ages(Think 13th to 14th century.). In this you primarily go around the world fighting bandits, partaking in tournaments, and trading to become powerful enough to contest the lords of the land and eventually join a faction or become powerful enough to conquer the world by yourself. There is a multiplayer component to the later versions as well.

However there is more to that the game is easily modable allowing many things to be added like magic or more advanced weapons and armor and different kinds of units. Some mods even entirely reinvent the setting completely changing the world to that of a established setting from another franchise or even entirely of the authors own making. Their is even officially licensed modules such as With Fire and Sword which changes the setting to 17th century Europe, Caribbean which is set in the Caribbean during the golden age of piracy, Napoleonic wars which is a multiplayer only expansion centered around reenacting Napoleonic warfare, and Viking Conquest which is focused around dark age Britain, Coastal Europe, and Scandinavia. Some of the Mods have gone so far as to try to emulate settings like The old West, Middle earth, The Wheel of Time setting, China in the second world war, or Even Star wars.

There is a sequel in the works that overhauls and improves the Base system.

I've played a little bit and enjoyed it but so far only Napoleonic wars and a couple games of other mods (one was a lord of the rings mod, the other was a zombie wave survival with many weapons ranging from a a rock club to laser rifles). Haven't played recently but had fun running around with bagpipes/drums. Might need to reinstall it and give it a try later on.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/TheLastDaysOfTheThirdAgeOfMiddleEarth is relatively subdued and uninteresting compared to allot of the other mods available like Phantasy Calradia which adds tons of new features to the base game and things like that wheel of time mod i mentioned earlier reinvents the world like TLDOTTAOME does on top of all of those new features, Even With fire and sword adds way more new features to the game. I don't play Napoleonic wars i mostly play Warband and sometimes play With Fire and Sword.

Played vanilla Warband long ago, liked it a lot, even if I found it slightly unpolished, am currently following the development of Bannerlord, and from the screenshots they published things looks promising
