Steam Summer Sale

Steam Summer Sale

Postby Dalvyserran » Thu Jul 12, 2012 5:13 pm

It's that time of the year again!

Image

If you're a PC gamer, Valve Corporation's Steam Summer and Winter Sales means annihilation of your wallets. Developers offer recent released AAA games, old favorites, indie titles, and DLCs for massive discounts. Steam Sales are the pinnacle of the year for PC gamers, because things previously out of the price range can get unbelievably low. New Games go on sale every 24 hours. If you already have Steam downloaded, it should show up on the main menu by now. Usually you can also get game packages (like the Humble Indie Bundle) for low prices.

Only one thing rivals the Steam Summer Sale is the Winter Sale in December! :)

Wide variety, depends on what developers want to offer to Valve to go on sale.

The list of games on sale updates every day too, but the sales last the whole period

All info can be found on the store page: http://store.steampowered.com/

Well, looks like I know where I'll be spending my next paycheck (Sharess be thanked it comes only a week from now, before the sale ends). :P

basically you're sending too many requests to the servers, overloading it and causing the servers to temporarily shut down access to it

There's THAT many people trying to check out the Summer Sale right now

Well, understandable, since there's bound to be a lot people interested in getting their hands on cheap games. XD

Me, I've got my eyes on the Civ V expansion and the id bundle (20 classic games for less than 50 euros?! I'm so in).

Distributed Denial of Service. You can read more about it here.

And let's see...ooh, Crusader Kings 2. A good friend has been playing that, and gave it a strong endorsement. And Heroes of Might and Magic VI...I didn't enjoy V as much as I did the previous ones, and the demo for VI didn't really jump out at me. Anyone else have any idea about that one?
And looks like there are some "flash sales" with time limits, too. Deus Ex's sale ends in under a couple hours.

Anyone else see a sale for a good price, then you feel like you HAVE TO buy it, and end up playing it only for 1-4 hours max? Happens all the time for me during events like this ^^;

Well, of the two games I've purchased so far, they were both ones that I had been somewhat considering for a while now. I haven't played them yet, but that's ok because I haven't planned to. When I'm bored with what I'm doing now, I'll move on to try the others out. I've tried to avoid purchasing games I didn't have knowledge or much interest in beforehand, since I'm a little stingy at times. The ones I've already got should give me enough entertainment time. :)

Bah, who needs a social life, anyway? So long as we have our games and Drowtales, we're as happy as can be, am I right? *lol*
