I actually want to know how catastrophic this would be based on what we know, since Kern seems bound and determined, despite his fanbase's protests, to keep Snad alive.
So what if, for example, on Page 256, someone shows up behind Snad, and fires a crossbow bolt right into her face, killing her instantly?
She just drops dead, period, end of sentence. She's not getting back up and faking us out again.
What would happen in both the immediate sense and in terms of the situation in the Drowtales universe?

Seriously, it has taken most of the the 50+ chapters to establish Snad as the actual, real, big-bad. Snad's death would pretty much implode the whole Nid Conspiracy, and the clans would return to properly going at each other's throats like civilized drow. Also, it would eliminate the obligatory antagonist for Ariel's story, thus preventing any further character growth, and thereby story.
