Ada is a flat currency.

Gold and silver exist in the setting but they are worth less compared to ada. Their mana conductivity is very low.

I do remember that bit about the gold from the Vaelia storyline, but my question was specifically what *is* ada. Is it a rock? Adamantium? A gem? o.O

Also Im not sure what you meant by a "flat" currency. Or did you mean fiat?

Oh hey and while you're here have you seen the Overlord OVAs? I can't find the one where the pleidies' leader throws her head around after Ainz uses that mental condition item on her.

In the old setting, "ada" was short for "adamantine", a fantasy metal as hard as diamond. Kern later said drow don't use adamantine for weapons (too heavy and too expensive), only for coins.

I don't know what are ada coins supposed to be made of now... not gold or silver, those aren't valuable to drow. Not diamonds either, those are too hard to work to make focis or cores out of them, so they aren't valued, either.

I think Dalvy meant it comes in flat, dark-purple ovoid disks. http://www.drowtales.com/mainarchive.php?sid=8302. Beyond that we dont really know anymore. It could be that its just carved granite and thus, fiat currency yeah.
