Is there a Mist-filled worldwide net of caverns?

Is there a Mist-filled worldwide net of caverns?

Re-reading old material, I have realized something: Char is far away in the north, isolated from the rest of the Underworld. What is more, Char isn't in a meteoric crater like Nuqrah-Shareh, Damadi or all the cities in the Sea of Mist... It is in an old mine. There is no reason for it to be connected to the Sea of Mists, for the Dark Elves who took refuge there to become drow and Xuile'solen, or for duergars to be present...

However, we know the dark elven refugees had to fight duergars when they sealed themselves inside the mines, and that they became drow and Xuile'solen, which means Char IS somehow connected to the Sea of Mist or to other meteoric craters...

The other option is that the mutagenic Mists aren't provoked by the chunks of the moons, but they are generated by the minerals of the underground itself, so any deep enough subterranean gallery or mine would eventually become filled with mists and turn people living inside into drow, regardless of they being natural or artificial...

What are your thoughts about it?

Makes sense (the part of Underground = Drow) since that's how cave-species develop. Though maybe it's more then like

[*]Underground makes Drowolath/Drowussu because of poor nutrition
[*]Meteor-ashes make Xuile'solen, because that's what Rel'lumia (RIP) stated during that Ill'haress' meeting chapter back in yon days

And perhaps dwarves were like goblins before the Cataclysm, present but of no concern. It can well be that dwarves spread over all cavesystems, resulting in fae coming into contact with them when they fled into said cavesystems from the nether.

The mist, or rather the "ashes" in the mist, not natural evolution, have been confimed as the factor that provokes the mutation of beings living in the underworld, both by Kern and by many characters in comics and podcasts...

A drow working for the Stone Company told the halme Fen Alstrat that evey living being is affected by the Mists and as a matter of fact, the word "drow" originally meant "mutated by the Ashes", and everything born in the Underworld was called "drow".

Case in point: Halmes born in slavery in Chel shouldn't be blind, since there are light sources in Chel, but they should die due to the lack of vitamin B. And even if we consider them a evolutionary offshoot of normal humans able to live without sunlight, the change is stated to happen spontaneously, every children born in the Underworld being a Rift Halme, and that's not how evolution works...
