That won't be necessary, we can just say it's chitin or spider-silk armor rather than leather. Just change that and we'll be good. Welcome to the RP!

8th, 9th, 10th and 11th paragraphs of the background have been modified; hopefully it's plausible now; I had known how the nether demons functioned, but I suppose it's best not to rely on luck there.

Name: Dain'aran Dutan'vir

Race: 'lath-'ssu halfbreed
Age: 66

Equipment:

1 steel Greatsword
2 steel throwing axes (francisca)
1 spidersilk bag
Armor – Steel-plates and spidersilk
Pendant with house Dutan'vir's emblem
Gauntlets, with flint and steel embedded into the wrists
Book on Moon Age history
Book of Dutan'vir history
Carries 8 Ada

Magic: Fire Sorcery

Clan: Sarghress

Background:

Dain'aran was born into an unremarkable minor house within Dutan'vir, to the first daughter of the current matriarch. His father, a Nal'Sarkoth merchant, was notable only for his race, and for his relatively brief relationship with his mother, after which he left the Dutan'vir lands for surface adventuring. Although the father is generally meaningless in Drow society, in this case, it left Dain somewhat outside of the familial bond usually shared by Drowussu, his siblings sharing bonds of race and kinship which he did not.

Dain'aran did however befriend an old historian Arik'an, who managed a small library within the Dutan'vir palace. He would often spend days reading of the adventures of Elven and Drow heroes in times long forgotten by most, and aspired to emulate these great explorers and heroes.

At age ten, Dain was sent off to Othrobbrae to be educated amongst the sons of the other clans. He got along well with most of the boys there, with the exception of rather cold treatment from a Beldrobbaen boy, though he was occasionally referred to as “the greyskin” in a friendly fashion. He noted with interest the difference in response between 'lath and 'ssu. His twenty-year Orthrobbrae stay passed without much trouble, with Dain learning of his fire affinity, which he trained in, along with use of a greatsword.

After completion of his studies at Orthrobbrae, Dain joined the Dutan'vir armed forces, and was assigned to a squadron of ten under the command of Tier'ligr Dutan'vir. He served with the squadron for six years outside of Chel, before the Nidraa'chal war broke out. Upon hearing of the disaster that had befallen their house, Tier'ligr called for her squad to return and join with the survivors in fighting the Nidraa'chal. All agreed without complaint.

Arriving in Chel, Dain's squad joined the Dutan'vir's vengeful push. Cut off during the fighting, most of the squad, six soldiers in total, were tainted , including Tier'ligr, who was heavily injured. Dain escaped this fate due mostly to good fortune. He had been stationed near the center of the squad's formation, and so had not caught the full focus of the attacking demons.

Struggling to remain conscious, Tier'ligr ordered the squad to withdraw into an abandoned section of the city, where they could regroup and attend to their injured. However, she quickly succumbed to her taint, managing to kill one of the untainted squadmembers before Dain stabbed the demon through the chest. Command was assumed by the untainted Ara'dyn, who lead the survivors into a nearby building. Worried that the others would give into the taint, Ara'dyn expressed desire to kill the surviving tainted, but was convinced to stay her hand by Dain. After a few days wandering the ruins, the untainted came across a Kyorl patrol, who told them that they could help their tainted. Leading them back, the Kyorl began to kill the injured tainted, fighting with those still able to hold their blades. Although ordered by Ara'dyn to allow the Kyorl to continue, Dain attacked the Kyorl, but was knocked unconscious during the fighting. The Kyorl wished to kill the “Abomination” for his transgressions, but Ara'dyn refused to let an untainted ally die.

When he awoke, the Kyorl had gone, and Ara'dyn and another untainted Dutan'vir were standing above him. Realizing that the rest of the squad was dead, Dain grudgingly followed Ara'dyn's instructions for the group to make it to Kyorl lands, and join them for survival. Upon reaching a gateway into Kyorl territory, Ara'dyn and the other surviving squadmembers were allowed in to join the Kyorl, but Dain was refused by one of the guards, who stated that the Kyorl wouldn't be taking in any filthy halfbreeds, especially at his age. Ara'dyn expressed her sorrow and led the squad inside. Another Kyorl guard, taking pity on the halfbreed, told him that the Sarghress were known to take in anybody, giving him a meal and pointed him back through the ruins to their territory.

Alone and dejected, Dain made his way to the ruins of the Dutan'vir palace, hoping to discover the fate of his young sisters. Fortunately encountering no demons between the Kyorl territory and the palace, when he arrived he found nothing but blood and slavers' chains: their fate seemed obvious. He made his way to the old library he had frequented in his childhood, finding that some books had already been taken, presumably by looters or slavers. Taking two of his favorite books and some food, and mourning the death of Arik'an the historian, Dain continued to Sarghress lands. Nearing the border, he ran across a group of demons. Drawing his sword and igniting nearby fires, he charged, killing the demons, but sustaining heavy wounds. Using the last of his strength, and recalling what he had learned of demon lore in his studies, he released a stream of mana as a lure, back into the ruined sector as a diversion. He continued on, stumbling from weakness, until he caught sight of a Sarghress patrol, and collapsed from fatigue.

Dain awoke in a Sarghress field hospital, and was told that he was picked up soon after his collapse, the border guard having seen Dain’s fires in his fight. At the hospital, he was told the current state of the chelian military and political situation. For five years, Dain wandered the city with little purpose, doing odd jobs for food and drink, and futilely attempting to restore order, until one day he spotted a group of Kyorl, wardens and templars, fighting demons and attempting to close a gate. He moved to assist, cutting down a demon from behind while it attacked a templar. After the battle, he recognized one of the Kyorl as Ara'dyn, and removed his full-face helmet to greet her. She reacted strangely, denouncing Dain as an abomination and demanding he leave the area or be purged. Disturbed by this behavior, Dain retreated quickly while under attack by the templar, but did not return to the Sarghress, instead endeavoring to investigate this strange behavior.

In the next year, Dain roamed the city looking for clues, speaking with common drow under Kyorl rule, and searching through many old tomes. He eventually encountered a tainted in Kyorl armor, who told him of the “cleansing” the Kyorl Inquisitors sometimes perform on new recruits, and the general indoctrination of adopted children. Furious about this revelation, Dain infiltrated a Kyorl sector, and cornered an Inquisitor and her guardian in an allyway, asked to know how to undo their brainwashing. The templar charged Dain, who managed to knock the young Kyorl out. The Inquisitor responded with an empathetic assault on Dain's mind, at which point Dain attacked, killing her with his greatsword.

Fearing reprisal, Dain quickly fled the district and joined a Nal'Sarkoth caravan to the surface as a mercenary, where he acquired some surface knowledge and his axes, after which he joined various other expeditions, above-ground and below, as a mercenary for various clans for the following 10 years, though never agreeing to morally questionable work, always regarding himself as a sort of knight-errant. Realizing that there was little he could do for victims of the Kyorl cleansing, and in dire need of protection and funds, he joined the Sarghress upon hearing of the survival of untainted Sharen exiles in their ranks, though he still generally tries to avoid conflict in Chel, as he still holds sympathies for the old Imperial family and the Dutan'vir's duty, and would rather the war there be resolved quickly with little bloodshed, feeling little sympathy for the Sarghress cause.

Personality:

Reserved and academic, with a love of history and old tales. Tends to adhere to his Drowussu upbringing, but will give in to anger when in personally emotional situations, which he holds as a result of his drowolath side.
Often closed-off due to prejudice against his heritage, he will become jovial in the company of close, long-time allies.
Dain is often wary around the Tainted, though he holds no prejudice against them. With vivid memories of tainted comrades falling to the taint, in battle Dain occasionally hallucinates and sees the tainted becoming demons.

Description:
Height: 7'3"
Weight: Average
Eye Color: Grey
Hair Color: White
General Appearance: Has a dark grey skin tone, somewhat closer to a Drowussu's than a Drowolath's, without any brown coloration. Has shoulder-length, white hair, which hangs down at the back of the head. Numerous scars from demon claws and bites cover his arms and legs, with a long scar on the forehead above the left eye. He has an average build, but is well-muscled.

Name: Malag'nafein Azaelu'oth

Build: Athletic
Race: Drowlath (Chel)
Gender: Male
Age: 72
Height: Medium
Hair: Shoulder length black dreadlocks
Eyes: Silver

http://www.drowtales.com/wordpress/?p=4892 (Concept Art)

Clan: Clanless (Former Val'Beldrobbaen)
Class: Mana Specialist - Shadow

Equipment:

WEAPONS
Broad bladed cutlass
Hunting knife
Small pouch of blinding powder

GEAR
Spidersilk backpack with basic survival equipment. (Dried food, water, tinderbox, rope)
Carries around 25 Ada

ARMOR
Metal breastplate under a cloth overcoat.

Combat Skills:
-Hand to Hand: Bar brawling level only, unremarkable.
-Blade: More or less capable with a single cutlass or long sword, just to the level of a trained mercenary.
-Shadow Sorcery: Able to create convincing illusions of shadow provided the area is dark enough, will usually try to blind or trick his opponents.

Personality: Usually cold and apathetic towards most other drow due to his trade, Malag'nafein can warm up to traveling companions and fellow mercenaries. Malag lives for combat and will use every trick in the book, and several that are not to overcome his foes, regardless of how honorable those actions may be. Has no qualms about taking unethical jobs such as assassinating, stealing from or enslaving other drow, any who are not among his family or close friends are fair game. Will also honor any agreement made, but can and will manipulate the wording to suit himself.

History: A run-away former Val turned mercenary, Malag'nafein quickly learned what life is really like outside the relative safety of the Beldrobbaen compound. Finding work as hired muscle with his friend and foster brother Talab'nolu, the two found work in the less reputable parts of Chel for a decade, before finding other like-minded outcasts and forming their own mercenary band.

Eventually however the relatively new merc band learned that ada was more easily gained from bounty and slave hunting instead of hired muscle. This created a rift in the group, which resulted in Malag'nafein staying and Talab'nolu leaving to join the Sarghress. After a bounty hunt on empaths went bad, resulting in most of the remaining outcast mercenaries being killed, Malag'nafein and the others went their separate ways.

Timezone: Australia GMT +10, able to post essentially every day, usually in the early morning or late afternoon.

I've noticed an aging issue with my character; should I repost the entire profile, or just the changes made? Changes made are colored here.

Vea'nalia Kyorl'solenurn (prefers Vea)

Drowussu

Age: 107

Physical Appearance
Black Hair
Blue Eyes
Average Height
Light Affinity - mana bolts, sealing and the like, also able to produce a very bright flash for blinding purposes
Order markings on forehead
Sword tattoo on left forearm

Equipment
Well-worn Wardens armor
Standard Warden equipment(sealing stones, religious material etc.)
Bastard Sword(on back)
small dagger(on chest)
15-20 ada usually

Personality:
Vea is a very outgoing, upbeat and exuberant individual. She endeavors to be friends with almost everyone she meets and inject an almost lethal dose of optimism into everyday life. This is all despite being involved in the Nidraa'chal uprising and, after being transferred to Val'Raveran, the sequence of events there. She has proven to be a competent and skilled Warden despite her unorthodox personality. The only group she cannot get along with are nether summoners, unsurprising given her affiliation, with with she gains a cold, extremely so, demeanor. This side of her also comes out when someone tries to harm her or her friends, and it is usually inadvisable to be around her at that moment. She also has had her chocolate access restricted due to the last time she overdosed and tried to set up a “happiness driven police state” and had to be restrained by two templars until the effects wore off.

Backstory:
Vea was born in Chel several decades before the Nid uprising to two Kyorl parents. While her father was almost always away and she only met him a few times, she idolized her mother. Growing up she wanted nothing more to be a warden like her mother. Though her personality wasn't exactly suited for soldiering. After spending her early life studying at Orthorbbae, she finally was able to begin warden training, one of the best days of her life.

Her personality turned out to be infuriating to her trainers. And she was assigned to several hard-line templars in succession to try and teach her the correct way of dealing with heretics. While she did prove to be a competent in her duties she remained as annoyingly compassionate and optimistic as ever. As the young warden slowly worked her way up the kyrol hierarchy tension was brewing in the city, with the onset of the tainted and the Nidraa'chal.

The young warden got her first taste of real combat during the Nid uprising. Fighting her way through the ruins of the Dutan'vir, she was sickened by the destruction the heretics had wrought and to this day she bears the hate for what she saw to bear against Nether summoners, before then it had just been legends and stories, now it was real. When the fighting had settled, and the city started to pick themselves up from the fighting, Vea was devastated to learn that her beloved mother had perished in the fighting. This left a permanent mark on the warden, but still her basic personality did not change.

Very soon the troublesome warden was shipped out to Val'Raveran out of sight out of mind for her commander in Chel. In the years immediately after her transfer Vea found Raveran much more to her liking, making many friends within and without Inlulk'lar. But fate did not desire the Vea continue a quiet life. When demons descended on her home once again, she fought them just as hard as the rest of the Kyorl. She was among the group that razed Vloz'Raveran to the ground. Once the fighting had died down, life settled back down to normal, though Vea had lost many friends to the demons. She formed many new friends with the Illhardro guards she was paired with on patrol.

Everything once again seemed to be going well, until the Il'lhardro pulled out with them there was no one around to stop the Kyorl's fanaticism when the second demon invasion swept through Raveran. While Vea served with distinction during the initial fighting, displaying both skill and wit. Her basic personality prevented her from toeing the line when the purges started. She had known many of the tainted and been close friends with a few and she knew they weren't heretic, merely victims of circumstance and she couldn't bring herself to condemn them to death. She could not speak out though for fear of being branded a heretic herself. While she remained creatively incompetent in the finding of accidental tainted, this mercy did not extend to those she thought were actually heretics, those she hunted with extreme prejudice.

When her commander was called to be part of the ill-fated council meeting she was brought along because, although they had ideological differences her commander didn't want anything untoward to happen to the council, and she knew Vea would not call for the purging of the council or other extremist notions. She was one of the ones who placed themselves between their fellows and the innocents in the , and she was one of the last to linger staring at what their clans fanaticism had wrought.

Now, while Vea remains almost as positive and upbeat as ever, she has a small amount of cynicism mixed. While she remains totally devout and loyal to her clan, she often gets in arguments over ideology with her fellows. She prefers to be out making friends or alone on the surface savoring the limited time she gets to spend there. She is often one of the first to volunteer for missions on the surface.

Ilnari'se Saghress - No changes

viewtopic.php?p=697606#p697606

~~~~~~
Rilla'me Trental
viewtopic.php?p=654621#p654621
13 years ago Rilla'me scraped the funds together to open her own small shop in the bazaar. She ran it well and it grew into a small thriving business. The instability after the second demon invasion worried her a great deal. The unease and resentment that caused it was something she shared in.
Being pregnant and unable to join in with the rioters she barricaded herself inside her shop together with several customers, nearby merchants and friends. Those who attacked them were fought off with difficulty and they struggled to acquire food. They lasted for some time in the cramped space before they were saved by members of the Aqrab'akkar clan who helped bring order back to the area. She is immensely grateful to them. Shortly after she gave birth to a daughter she named Aria.
Having recently taken out a loan with the Deme'dichi she has restored her little mana-plant store and rented a small home for herself over it. She's always looking out for new species of mana plants to buy and sell. Still has a strong desire to rebuild her clan but there has been little progress on that front.
Added equipment
*A crossbow
*45 Ada
Replaced her facepaint with a vines and flower tattoo curving around her left eye down her cheek.
Postby Bamawing » Fri Nov 09, 2012 5:46 am
I've made a few changes to Pon'i over the past 4 years that I've been playing him... not to mention the changes in the timeskip... so I'm just re-registering him. :) Here's the original, if you're curious... it also contains more details of the Dendal family early history: viewtopic.php?f=83&t=4322&p=495263&hilit=Bamawing#p495263
Changes include timeskip updates (including change in pet- skunks don't last that long), a change in the spelling of Pon'i's last name, his father is different, and he is less picky about clothing and more picky about food. I'll get a picture of him up at some point. Probably.
Name: Po'nibo Dendal (Po'ni)
Race: drowolath
Gender: male
Magic: untrained air affinity, basic mana manipulation
Age: 118
Occupation: Courier
Appearance: A well-dressed adult with gray eyes and an easygoing smile. He is never without his pet, an exotic overworld animal the size of a cat. He had dyed his waist-length hair black with white stripes to match her fur. He has two black soft chevron-like tattoos on his cheeks, and a white triangle on his forehead. Again, these look similar to the markings on his pet. He is of average height and thin.
Personality: Capable of instantly switching from warm to formal and vice-versa, most people think that Po'ni likes and respects them whether he does or not. He is an excellent actor. He is equally comfortable with slaves, nobles, and overworlders. He is good-hearted and has simple tastes. He does love good food, however, and is a picky eater.
Equipment: A large spidersilk backpack containing his standard load of messages, rope, food and water, a first aid kit, a small knife, several glowstones, 15 ada, and bedroll/hammock. He always makes a point to wear pockets, and these contain his collapsible golem floater, 10 ada, maps, a glowstone, and a small golem container that will only open at his aura (for confidential messages, available for an extra fee). His quarters in the Dendal compound in Raveran contain a modest amount of clothing and about 400 ada. He keeps two small lockers, one in Chel and one in the overworld, both containing spare clothes and 30 ada (or equivalent in gold) for emergencies. He comes from a wealthy common family, and being a courier is a rather good living.
Weapons: his pet
His pet: Regen is Pon'i's second skunk. He got his first, Thun'der, nearly 20 years ago. She lived to a ripe old age, and is buried outside of Raveran on a peaceful knoll overlooking the city. Regen is young and a little excitable, but Pon'i is very good at calming her down. It is not often that they have smelly accidents. Regen's collar is fitted with several glowstones to prevent her from being downright skiddish.
Background: The Dendal family amassed a small fortune growing gourmet mushrooms in a secret compound near Raveran. The exact location is a strict secret of the family, and the entrance to the compound looks like a mere crevice. Pon'i's mother died in childbirth, and he was raised by his aunt D'ini and great aunt Enen. His mother never revealed the identity of her mate (no one asked, either) but it was Uskai, the servant of the family's founder and matriarch. Uskai has never told Pon'i of their relation, but the two get along well. Uskai is where Pon'i got his fantastic poker face.
Pon'i started by carrying messages around the compound, and gradually branched out until he was carrying messages from Chel to Raveran to the overworld. He learned several trade routes from a trade caravaner named Om'lid, and later discovered many shortcuts on his own. Individual Kyorls were some of his largest customers, but from the first Pon'i maintained a careful political neutrality. He knows several shortcuts on the trip from Chel to Raveran, including passages that are too small for a kirisu or streekaider to follow, and cliffs that he navigates with his floater. Regen (and before her, Thun'der) serve as bodyguards, and the few times he has been attacked on the streets he has gotten away unscathed. He has a good reputation for speedy, friendly-but-not-familiar service.
At the Dendal's heyday, he was in charge of shipping mushrooms from the compound to Chel. When Chel fell into war, the family withdrew its interests there. The family also sustained major losses during the bazaar riots, including the death of the matriarch, Yarri. Before the riots, they were on the verge of becoming a minor clan. At the moment they have dropped political aspirations and have returned to the simple task of providing mushrooms to Raveran. Pon'i has kept out of his family's political games, preferring to concentrate on his courier business. He will still travel to Chel if he has to, but his fee to do so is large.
Postby Sonor Val'Illhar'dro » Sat Nov 24, 2012 5:07 am
Name: Suru'sunduiri Sariya’ssinsuurull Illhar'dro (Soo-roo' sun-doo-ear-ree Sah-ree-yah-ssin-soo-rule Illhar'dro)
Race:Drowolath
Age: 177
Equipment:
Illhar’dro grade standard armor (steel plates, spider-silk undergarments)
Mana-shield foci embedded gauntlets
Glaive
Dagger
Spell-song enhancing foci
Pouch of 50 ada
Magic:
Spell Song (advanced)
Mana Manipulation (moderate)
-Aura vision
Beginning city: Val’Raveran
Clan: Val’Illhar’dro
Background:
House- The Sariya’ssinsuurul are a small but relatively wealthy and respected house in the Illhar’dro clan. The Sariya existed as a vassal house to the Illhar’dro in Nuqrah’shareh since the conception of the clan. Its original purpose was much different than its current state: the Sariya were a militant portion of the Illhar’dro in the early days. Most of its members served in some form or function as guards or peacekeepers in the city. Around year 405, the house moved the center of its operations and majority of the family to Val’Raveran. There, the services the house changed- the Sariya shifted its focus from providing security to maximizing wealth and trade. The house made heavy investments in surface trade and established caravan lines between the Haltonreibe, Val’Raveran, and Chel’el’sussoloth. The house also had a small contingent of its members managing trade and relations with Chel’el’sussoloth. With the growth of the colonies, the Sariya were the frontrunners in investing resources in their establishment. The house existed in this state until the exodus of the Illhar’dro from Val’Raveran and Chel’el’sussoloth.
Since the exodus, the House had suffered innumerable losses. It had lost of brunt of its wealth and property after leaving Val’Raveran and Chel’el’sussoloth and relocating back to Nuqrah’shareh. Without the means or wealth to maintain their holdings in Haltonreibe, the house has recalled its members back to Nuqrah’shareh. The Nuqrah’shareh Civil War has rekindled the militant past of the House; many of its members have joined the effort to stabilize the city. However, portions of its members are beginning to return to reclaim property in Val’Raveran and Chel’el’sussoloth. Relations with the Vir’reska are incredibly hostile seeing as they have occupied former Sariya property. A new Dev’ess has taken over the house, usurping Suru’s mother, the former Dev’ess.
The house is now centralized in Nuqrah’shareh. They are currently trying to rebuild lost holdings in Val’Raveran and are putting inquiries about their property in Chel’el’sussoloth. They have made no attempt to reestablish their presence in Haltonreibe or the Saosh colony. Most members are Ravenite born but the minority Nuqrahn borne bloodline of the house now leads it (excluding Suru’sunduiri’s portion of the family).
The Early Years (0-9)-
Suru’sunduiri was the fourth borne female to the former Dev’ess of the House. Her mother was the Sariya Dev’ess that oversaw the Nuqrah’shareh to Val’Raveran move and helped change the goals of the house. She was born in Nuqrah’shareh, but shortly thereafter moved to Val’Raveran with the majority of her family. Suru grew up during a tumultuous time of change and prosperity for her house and the clan. In an effort to repurpose the goals of the newer generations, her mother would insist that Suru’sunduiri would ride along with the family’s trade caravan for short distances to gain exposure to the world of business and trade. At her aunt’s insistence, Suru’sunduiri and a couple of her siblings were sent to Chel’el’sussoloth to further their education and establish a foothold for the house in the city.
Growing Up(10-36)-
Since the Sariya’ssinsuurul were very wealthy, Suru’sunduiri was able to go to school at Orthobbae. At first, Chel’el’sussoloth was a dynamic place that confused and enraptured Suru’sunduiri. But Suru was adaptable and quickly fell into the routine of managing Chel. She was encouraged to develop relations with the children of the Sharen and the Nal’Sarkoth, the wealthiest clans in the underworld. Nuqrahn and Ravenite teachers before her admittance to Orthobbae had briefly tutored Suru in the basics of Spell song and mana manipulation. Through this minor head start, Suru’sunduiri was able to rise quickly in her teacher’s eyes and became respected among her peers. True to her mother’s urgings, Suru’sunduiri quickly latched onto the children of the Nal’Sarkoth, befriending a fair amount of them rather quickly and sweetening the trade relations between the Nal’Sarkoth and the Illhar’dro. Suru’sunduiri was a very free and open person, and she could find many things to talk about with the Nal’Sarkoth children, both had made frequent visits to the surface. At the insistence that her education was near complete, Suru’sunduiri later dropped the classes of Orthobbae in order to return to her family’s main house in Nuqrah’shareh to help raise and tutor her younger relatives but to also expand on her knowledge of spell song.
A Whole New World (37-68)-
Suru’sunduiri helped educate her younger relatives until they were deemed old enough to be sent to higher institutions across the Underworld. In the following years, Suru’sunduiri intensely studied spell-song and trade until she had become a respectable songstress of the Illhar’dro and an equally respectable negotiator and trader in Raveran. Seeing that her education in the underworld was at its peak, Suru’sunduiri hopped onto one of her aunt’s trading caravans and traveled further and for a greater amount of time. On the Surface, Suru’sunduiri met members of all races: Halme, Emberi, orc, ferals, etc. On her travels, she was able to learn a few varied languages of the humans, and some dialects of orcs. She studied the politics and finer points of trade and negotiation, adding persuasion and wit to her repertoire of skills. On her journey, Suru’sunduiri had established good trade relations in the name of her house and clan across the surface. At times, the Illhar’dro group she was traveling with would settle in different cities where she took the opportunity to attend foreign schools. After many years of traveling and learning, Suru’sunduiri returned back home to put her newfound knowledge to use. At the end of her journey, her ‘silver tongue’ was nearly unrivaled among her peers in the ranks of spell song users.
Making a Name (68-161)-
Suru’sunduiri had grown and matured heavily on the Surface, now even wittier than before and a keener eye to aid her in a complex world. Since her family already had footholds in Val’Raveran and the surface, Suru’sunduiri traveled back to Chel’el’sussoloth once again to exert her clan’s influence in the city’s economy. There, she dived into the spider silk market and negotiated deals and trade arrangements between Chelian supplies and Ravenite buyers, helping form a strong trade alliance between assorted spider silk guilds and Ravenite textile producers. After establishing both wealth and security in the name of her house and the Illhar’dro, Suru’sunduiri took up a post at Orthobbae as a spell song instructor until the Nidraa’chal War. Suru’sunduiri left Orthobbae and instead tutored young Chelian Illhar’dro in the art of spell-song.
The Exodus & Present (161- Present)
At the insistence of her clan, Suru’sunduiri left Chel’el’sussoloth along with the rest of the Illhar’dro and their vassal houses. Collecting the members of the Ravenite Illhar’dro along the way back to Nuqrah’shareh, Suru faced a different family and house than the one she had left for so long. Her family and her mother received heavy criticism from the majority of the house, allegations of lax security, poor investment, and outdated leadership rained in from all sides. With shame on her name and honor, Suru’s mother stepped down from her position as Dev’ess in favor of her sister, Suru’s aunt, who maintained strict martial and familial pride. This new Dev’ess shook up the house from its very foundation, sending most of its now purposeless members, including Suru’sunduiri, into the old guard of Nuqrah’shareh. Suru’sunduiri was thrown into a new world of fighting, self-defense, and discomfort. Her usual delicate body hardened with the days of training, and her usual demeanor of excess and light heartedness shifted. The Nuqrah’shareh Civil War forced the House to send the majority of its forces into the streets to maintain order. As the Illhar’dro prepared to retake Val’Raveran, Suru’sunduiri was sent with a small contingent of the house to establish security and reestablish former influence. Currently, Suru’sunduiri is in the process of restarting old trade connections and helping contribute to the security of the city.
Personality:
Kind, polite and very cordial, Suru would make a perfect diplomat if she weren’t Hel bent on furthering the clan’s wealth. Behind her little smile and twinkling eyes are the brain gears working nonstop on getting deals, appeasing the clan, and scouting for new and inventive ways to further her house in the Illhar’dro clan.
Description:
Hair- Suru’sunduiri, like many of the drowolath, was born with white hair but she dies it with sky blue and azure streaks. She keeps it in a messy bun with the rest hanging down.
Eyes-Pale blue with the red gleam of drow,
Height-6’0 ft
Physique: Slim
Suru’sunduiri has for the most part abandoned luxurious robes and dresses unless she is off-duty or participating in trade negotiations. The restructuring of the house admonished flagrant displays of wealth and the members have adopted a more stoic fashion to represent the times. The paranoia of the new dev’ess reaches far into even the fashion choices of its members. Suru’sunduiri has abandoned frills, bows, and strings of jewels, with a more elegant sky blue assortment. Modest day-to-day earrings hang from her ears now and less jewels than before. Underneath her attire is a steel breast plate and forearm guards. What were slippers are now sturdy boots on her feet.
Name: Waer’ah Kyorl’solenurn
Race: Drowussu
Age: 244 years old
Equipment:
Wae’rah adorns herself in interlocking pieces of plate armor over robes made of reinforced spider silk. The armor is embedded at the gauntlets, chest, and shoulder armor with crystal sealing stones. This armor is also engraved with the symbol of the Order of the Sentinel Eye in various places. She wields a long sword. Knee high armored boots protect the lower half of her legs and feet. She usually carries about 20 ada on her person, a map of Val’Raveran, a small dagger, extra sealing stones, extra ice foci, some tiktikki jerky for snacking, and a roll of bandages, which are all usually attached at the hip in a spider silk pouch. Upon her neck is a necklace with a small disk of polished adamantine with the nine eyes of Sharess engraved on one side and the symbol of her order, the Sentinel Eye, engraved on the other.
Magic:
Minor nether summoning (sealing demons, opening gates to send demons back etc)
Ice Sorcery (advanced)- Wae’rah has a strong affinity to ice and expounded upon it in the Kyorl’solenurn section of Orthobbae.
Moderate Mana Manipulation
- Aura Vision
Beginning city: Val’Raveran
Clan: Kyorl’solenurn
Background:
The Birth of a Warden (0-10)-
Wae’rah was a special little drowling, born to the union of her mother, Carua Kyorl’solenurn, and her father, Viyu Kyorl’Solenurn, a warden and templar respectively. She was born to drowussu of high rank and a good bloodline; many people put their hopes on this young and up and coming warden, and expectations were set before she had even opened her eyes. From birth she was instructed on the history of Sharess and the rules of the Kyorl’solenurn, fiercely being fed the dogma that all children of the clan were raised with. Wae’rah would sit in her family’s home, curled up at the knees of her mother as stories of Sharess and the ancient world were told to her.
Every day after a day of patrols or business of the clan, Wae’rah would be her mother’s sole bundle of comfort as she removed her armor. Her curiosity was limitless; she would pester the older drowussu about questions day in and day out till her mother threatened to lock her up to keep her from pestering the clan members. Despite those warnings, Wae’rah was given free pass to travel around the drowussu section at her pleasure but was expressly forbidden to travel past the walls separating them from Chel’el’sussoloth.
Beyond Those Walls (not really) 10-30
When it came time for Wae’rah to leave the Kyorl’solenurn compound, she was a mess of excitement as she was propped up on a clan mount with her mother, and they made their way towards Orthobbae. Passing through the streets of Chel’el’sussoloth was an eye opening experience. She had heard stories of her dark skinned cousins, the drow, and she stared at them with wide eyes as she passed. Some of them stared back, either with disgust or indifference. Were these dark skinned cousins truly as chaotic as some of her clan claimed them to be? She would be schooling with them? This was so terribly exciting! She was hopping up and down on her seat as they approached Orthobbae, her head craned upwards to stare at the enchanted ceiling but instead of heading towards the main dome, the mount took a turn towards the Drowussu School. Wae’rah was confused but she kept silent as her mother dropped her off, kissed her on the cheek and left. Wae’rah did not start off as the most confident of children when she entered schooling, and she faced bullying from some of the other drowussu girls who hoped to exceed any and all competition towards becoming a better warden in the future. She would receive constant sneers or attempts at further needless indoctrination from the extreme of extremist of children. To cope with her lack of friends in the warden area, Wae’rah quickly became friends with the less radical children and after some time, adopted their beliefs. Many of the older drowussu expressed heavy concern over the development of such a tamed and ‘peaceful’ warden and more pressure was pressed on her schooling. Wae’rah excelled in all her classes, her proficiency in ice sorcery bringing her towards the top of her class. Due to her finesse in mana manipulation, she quickly adopted aura vision with ease. Her shy nature seemed to be nonexistent in training sessions as Wae’rah was nimble footed and ferocious with her blades. Wae’rah would huddle up in the library and read about the stories of the dark elven nations, of Sharess, of the origins of the Kyorl’solenurn and wonder about the outside world. Being in the Kyorl section was not the renewed freedom Wae’rah had expected, but she coped with it. Her love for stories further reinforced her image as weak child; this was an image that was to be tested by the leader of Wae’rah’s bullies. In snide tones, a warden-in-training, one of Wae’rah’s contenders, challenged Wae’rah to a duel, expecting a easy and clean victory. To the surprise and dismay of her challenger and her associates, Wae’rah was not the simpleton that they hoped she would be. Mana blazed and practice swords clashed, and the offender was knocked unconscious within minutes. Wae’rah left her Orthobbae training at the top of her class.
Sealed Doors and New Opportunities (30-100)
Wae’rah’s mother and father died shortly after she had finished her schooling after being attacked by a group of Vloz’ress when investigating some trouble reported around the Rift area. It was a devastating blow to her morale, and Wae’rah mourned their passing. Judicator Innen, Judicator of the Sentinel Eye, felt Wae’rah’s deep loss and opened up her arms to accept her into the ranks. The Order was not large and it was just beginning to gain ground but Wae’rah found condolence with their small numbers. It wasn’t long before Wae’rah became an integral unit of the circle of nine elite wardens that represented to the rest of the Kyorls their powers and ideologies. On a visit to the City Temple to make prayers and ceremonies to Sharess, Wae’rah stumbled into a Dutan’vir guard by the name of Est’ok. Est’ok swept Wae’rah away with his intelligence, charm and looks. She was intrigued by this male drowussu not affiliated with the Kyorls. He was a tall drowussu, surpassing the average height, and he had dark teal hair and honey gold eyes with an easy smile always playing on his face. Wae’rah began making frequent visits to the temple to glance shyly at him from the corner of her eyes. Eventually she would approach him and make conversation; it had come to the point that they would sit in the market and chat on end during his breaks. Wae’rah fell hopelessly in love in Est’ok after courting him for a few years. Est’ok also felt the same affection for her. Together they entered a commitment ceremony and a sense of happiness crept back into Wae’rah’s life. Intrigued by his clan, Wae’rah requested that her clan and Order release her to be a representative of the Kyorl’solenurn in the home of the Dutan’vir. They agreed and Wae’rah was released to study the culture of the Dutan’vir and be closer to her mate.
Collapse (100-229)
That happiness would not stay stable for long; however, as nether summoning became more prevalent and loyalties towards Sharess collapsed, Diva’ratrika’s Inquisition threw the Dutan’vir in disarray. At the command of her Order, Wae’rah had to leave the Dutan’vir and ultimately her mate, Est’ok. In a successive sequence of events, Wae’rah had watched with horror from over the walls of the drowussu compounds as Chel’el’sussoloth fell into the devastating Nidraa’chal war. The news of the assassination of the Dutan’vir Illharess and the subsequent fall of the Dutan’vir clan had horrified Wae’rah beyond all belief. In her attempt to revisit and salvage a clan she had grown to love, she joined the group of Kyorl’solenurn heading towards the Dutan’vir fortress. Luckily, the slavers and opportunists had not breeched the walls and she, along with her fellow Kyorls, swept into the Dutan’vir fortress. The selection process pained her beyond all belief and she accompanied her fellow wardens into the familiar halls of a home she held for many years. The children were frightened; they were so colorless, and they trembled at the chill of the Kyorl’s armor. She recognized many, but many did not recognize her for fear colored their vision. Wae’rah was given the opportunity to lead a group of her own wardens and templars to make a selection of the Dutan’vir orphans in one room. In order to not draw suspicion from her clan, Wae’rah made a stern show in observing and poking at the Dutan’vir children. Ultimately, she declared that all were pure and ushered them into the safety of her clan. It pained her to see that some orphans were being left behind, mostly the young ones, and half-breeds. She pleaded with some to the older wardens to select a few more but they were steadfast in their decision. Wae’rah silently dallied behind the group as they made their leave and snuck some ada in the hands of some of the orphans. She also inquired about the whereabouts of Est’ok, but they replied that all the adults had left, slimming her hopes in his survival. She left the Dutan’vir fortress with a heavy heart. At the signal of her clan, Wae’rah marched out with Kyorl’solenurn troops to cleanse the battlefield. The battlefield was horrendous; the floor was layered with bodies and the air thick with demons. Wae’rah was quick to scan the bodies, turning over every pale skinned and antlered drowussu she saw in her efforts to seek out Est’ok. It was not long before she found him, or at least what remained of him. Est’ok had been impaled into a wall by one of his colleagues who had succumbed to a demon. His last heroic action was to sink his own blade into the skull of the demon before he had died. Before the flames of the Kyorl’solenurn could torch the bodies, Wae’rah had crept up to the corpse of her long term mate and removed his helmet and sliced off a piece of fabric from underneath his armor. She tucked these mementos into the folds of her cloak and joined the Kyorl troops in their purge. Wae’rah returned to the fortress with blood stained boots and a heavy heart, she snuck the helmet and cloth piece into her room and collapsed upon her bed in grief that night. The next morning, Na’omh approached her with her new ‘daughter’. Wae’rah looked wryly upon the child, her name was Maria, one of the Dutan’vir orphans. The orphans had been portioned out into Kyorl families. Wae’rah had not taken any in but her Order had taken plenty. Na’omh requested that Wae’rah train this young girl. With a heavy sigh, Wae’rah had looked the girl up and down before accepting the job offer and diligently instructing Maria in the ways of a warden and of the Kyorl’solenurn. It was like having a daughter, a daughter she could have had with Est’ok. This future warden would occupy most of her time, as Wae’rah would arrive every afternoon with books and sparring sticks. She instructed her in the ways of the Kyorls and the wonders of Sharess. It was not long before Maria grew up to be a very beautiful and competent warden and member of the Kyorl’solenurn. Other members of the Kyorl’solenurn who had adopted former Dutan’vir came to Wae’rah for tutoring and instruction for their new wards. For a while, Maria became the instructor of most of the Dutan’vir orphans since she had lived among their clan as an ambassador for so long. It kept her occupied and prevented her from sinking into the dark depths of depression. She would indoctrinate them to be proper Kyorl’solenurn and instructed them prior to their formal schooling. Despite the period of grim darkness, a flame flickered alive in her heart and it roared to life, as a creeping hatred for all things tainted and demonic possessed her in even greater vengeance. Wae’rah often itched to go out with the cleansing squads, but her duty was mostly raising the Dutan’vir orphans. However, at any possible chance that she may receive, Wae’rah traveled into the war afflicted ruins to help cleanse the broken area. She still resided with the Kyorl’solenurn and has the position as one of the Nine Wardens of the Order of the Sentinel Eye.
Val’Raveran (229-Present)
The Order of Sentinel Eye sent more and more of its members out in scouting missions to other districts or other territories in order to gleam more information for the clan. The moderates who had broken off from the extreme Kyorls had finally arrived back in Chel’el’sussoloth and with them they brought dire news of the situation of the city. With many of the minority moderate Kyorls fleeing from the destructive play in politics in Val’Raveran, the Kyorl contingent left in the city was becoming increasingly extreme in their measures with no sanity to balance them out. Shortly after the Illhar’dro had come back to reclaim the city, Wae’rah and a couple of moderate Kyorl’solenurn were sent in to intervene for the sake of their clan and its’ interests. Wae’rah is now in the process of situating herself in the city.
Description:
Height- 6’ft
Weight- 165 lbs
Eye- Light blue
Hair- Silver (not gray), but sparkling silver. Wae’rah keeps it down when in the luxury of her fortress but puts it up when venturing out into Chel’el’sussoloth.
Appearance- Wae’rah has a pleasant heart shaped face with kind eyes and a supple smile. When she is off duty, Wae’rah adorns herself in multiple layered robes of light blue and silver spider silk.
Personality: Wae’rah is a very kind and intelligent drowussu, she is modest in herself and devout towards Sharess and Illharess Shimi’lande. She is tolerant towards drowolath and half breeds, but vicious towards verdrowendar. Many would describe Wae’rah has a motherly figure with a fussy attitude.
Shoshalo (Shosho)
viewtopic.php?p=685802#p685802
16-22
Having caught the attention of a bored slightly older Illhar'dro girl, little Shosho became her servant and occasional playmate and dress up doll, just before the call to leave Raveran. Shoshalo was dragged along to Nuqra with her without a say in it. The girl, Neurien quickly became bored of her and the little empath in turn found herself disliking her and missing her old home. It didn't stop her from trying to be the best servant she possibly could. Eventually Neurien decided that such a plain little girl wasn't good enough and replaced her with a cute boy instead. Shosho ended up returning to her old routine in a different place, working in the kitchens and sneaking into the library to read. A few years later she heard from another servant that some Ilhar'dro were planning to return to their birthplace in Raveran. Deciding she wanted to go back she started ingratiating herself with the few servants who would go with them. It worked and she found herself sitting on the back of a wagon.
When she returned she found that the beautiful home of her masters was occupied and that they had to live in less than outstanding accommodation. It's something that has made the Illhar'dro irritable which makes things hard for the servants too. The ambitious little Shoshalo works hard to do everything she can to improve the lives of her Vals and the aesthetics of their current abode, her main duties mostly include running small errands.
Added Equipment:
A cookbook,
A storybook,
A small dagger for trips outside,
A sewing kit,
3 Ada.
Description: Now 22 years old, Shosho is slightly below the average height for her age, she has a delicate build. The owner of pretty silver-grey eyes. Her hair touches her shoulders and the tips are dyed a soft pink. She has a little pink spiral tattoo beneath her left eye. She wears a simple white dress with very pale blue sleeves that reach her elbows, blue sandals adorn her feet.
