Minka and Sker are re-introduced at the head of a vanguard of Val'Dutan'vir soldiers, formed of the scattered remnants who had fled to other clans such as the Val'Sarghress and Val'Kyorl'Solenurn.(source 4)Retaking the Val'Dutan'vir clan home
Later, after the funeral of Holy Mother Shimi'lande, the Val'Kyorl'Solenurn moved to recover the hostages taken by the Val'Dutanvir soldiers in the process of reclaiming their clan home. Minka continued to act as a leader to the ragtag collection of Dutan'virs, taking little time to rest despite being wounded. After repelling another Kyorl attack, he ignored a recommendation by Vara'nin to have a wound to his arm treated, commenting that he had one working arm and they would need everyone at the gate.(source 5)
Shortly after making his way to the gate, he rejoined Skerr, who was monitoring the Val'Kyorl'Solenurn forces across the bridge leading towards the Val'Dutanvir fortress. After receiving another demand from the Val'Kyorl'Solenurn to surrender, the rebels responded with a "suicidal charge," which Minka commented was very traditional. Instead of receiving a surrender as they had expected, the Kyorl'solenurn soldiers were attacked by a large, stag-like golem, which tore a path through the initial rows of Kyorls. Taking advantage of the distraction, several Val'Dutanvir warriors used earth sorcery to shatter the bridge, cutting off the one path into the fortress. The golem was lost, along with several of the invaders, but the rebels had bought themselves some more time.(source 6)
The Val'Dutan'vir's victory was short-lived, however. Using earth sorcery, an infiltration force managed to make their way into the Val'Dutan'vir fortress, using the cavern walls and ceiling as a pathway into the building. Minka received a report from Akuma'keshi that the infiltrators had been spotted, and led several Val'Dutan'virs to intercept the Val'Kyorl'Solenurn, chasing a pair of them towards the upper levels of the living quarters. After a comment from one of the captured Templar, Minka realized that they had been tricked into chasing the Kyorls. After ordering the others to "restrain the Kyorl," he ran downstairs to check on the front gate.
Finding no further attack on the front gate, Minka began to search for Sker, hoping to find out what the Kyorls' next move was. He was told by Vara'nin that Sker and several others had left, heading for the left tower. Minka immediately set out for the left tower, and finally located Sker as he and other Dutan'vir warriors were mopping up from their own fight. Asking if the Kyorls had said anything strange to him as well, they were interrupted by a loud tearing sound, which they realized was the tower being torn apart. (source 7)
Yelling a futile warning to Sker and the others, Minka was unable to do more than watch as the tower collapsed, taking Sker and the others with it and crashing down onto the cavern - and thousands of civilian residents - below. This broke the last will to fight for the Val'Dutan'virs, and Minka, along with the remaining renegades, surrendered to the Val'Kyorl'Solenurn. While the new Holy Mother, Valla'drielle Val'Kyorl'Solenurn, promised to be merciful with those who had strayed from the Kyorl's path, she ordered that their leader would be executed as an example to the rest.(Source 8 ) Last Order of the Holy Mother
Minka was brought before the entire Val'Kyorl'Solenurn clan and tied to a stake alongside Kyo'varde Val'Kyorl'solenurn, who had been framed for the murder of the clan's judicators. As they began to burn to death, the fire was suddenly pulled upwards and away from them, flying towards a window and into the Val'Kyorl'Solenurn fortress. (source 9)
To Minka's surprise, rescue had come in the form of a singing crowd, escorting yet another new Holy Mother who had been summoned to the Underworld by Shimi'lande herself shortly before her death. After realizing that the new Holy Mother, Anahid, had won the crowd's favor, Valla'drielle abdicated, allowing Anahid to take control of the Val'Kyorl'Solenurn. After the first three days of her reign, Anahid's first act was to pardon the Val'Dutan'vir renegades, as well as following Shimi'lande's last order to return their lands to them. (source 10)
As Minka exits the Val'Kyorl'Solenurn fortress, he was joined by Mal'ligr Dutan'vir. They soon spotted Valla'drielle in a hallway; Minka followed the former Holy Mother to an alcove, where he confronted her. As he picked her up by the throat and prepared to throttle her, he remembered Anahids words, and instead dropped her back onto the floor, choosing to give her the mercy that she had refused him. (source 11)
Together, the last Val'Dutan'virs headed home.
"They say our bonds can never be broken, yet all I remember are hte betrayals and the bad decisions. Years in the pit for this, Sker...years
." - To Sker'ligr Val'Dutan'vir prior to retaking the Val'Dutan'vir fortress.
"Forgiveness is true strength." - To Valla'drielle Val'Kyrol'Solenurn, after confronting her on his way out of the Val'Kyorl'Solenurn fortress.
