A lot going on in this page. Would have like to show more but it was longer than I (and Reza) prefer already.
As dawn approaches Xenon and Daven return with the scout Daven killed. He's identified as a Mimian by Mili, an unexpected and worrisome discovery since they aren't supposed to be this far west.
Durlyn gives some exposition, because lack of space basically. Not enough panels to show it.
Then the mimians manage to get at least one sniper close enough to the ship to target people onboard. Khanzalika, who was currently manning the ballista take a serious but non-fatal shot to the upper chest.
Tohya, a wrench and repair kit in hand, drops it in surprise while Vars reacts by shouting orders and putting up a mana shield for himself (which isn't clear by the page, but he does
Meanwhile at the Nal outpost a targeting light is shone at a section on the wall. The shot fired by the ballista in the last leader page hits home, creating a breach in the wall (it was suppsoed to be large enough for troops to get through, looks a little smaller in the actual page).
The leader of the outpost, Dan'iira, is now organizing the defences. In time to make a difference thaks to Powder brining her the message.
Sil'thara an her group found the dell where the other group of attackers were hiding. The only problem is that they are ten warriors and two mana specialists against around fifty mimian enemies.
In an effort to take out the rods that marks targets for the ballistas Sil'thara puts together two strike treams, hoping to do a quick hit and run attack and get the mana specialists close enough to take out or damage the towers.
Both Na'wyn and Tar'issa manage to overload the towers (who were fairly unstable to begin with, producing such a strong and large light) but at a high price. (More details later.)
Finally, Brooke and Mirtis run into a very troublesome mimian scout. One accompanied by a huge tiger. Brooke has a crossbow bolt in her stomach (her armor made it a serious injury instead of a slowly fatal one), a deep cut in her thigh and one gauntlet has been torn off by the tiger, her forearm scraped and bruiseed.
Mirtis has several deep gouges from the tigers claws, a broken leg and one ear patially torn off.
This time Vars gets to do the exposition instead of Durlyn, again because of lack of space.
The sniper who shot Khanzalika was not alone. Gultyrr led a sortie to take them out and was successful but was shot in the hip and chest with a crossbow (lower ribs, which helped keep the injury fairly shallow, was a bitch to get the head ot though since it was stuck in the bones). Three other tei'kaliath were also injured, including a bad cut to the arm that nicked an artery. The female who took that wound is stabilised but weak from blood loss.
The golem armed with the automatic crossbows was used a little but since the mimians kept away from the open area in front of the ship the shots were pretty much wasted.
The healers are having their hands full and will likely need help once the other wounded start coming back.
