Soo... I take it that the poll should start at some point?
We do have four nice options here, after all. :3

El I'm voting for your design because it looks like a Zergling.

...Huh, didn't even think about it like that.
Main idea came from (you guessed it) high-fantasy manticores, praying mantises and BuCUE/LaGOWE/Gaia

I thought manticores were the lions with bat/dragon wings and the two tails with stingers. And they may or may not have humanish faces, I can't remember.

The original mantiore is a lion with a spiky tail (needles can be shot from the tail) and a man's face, while fantasy setting manticores are lions with scorpion tail and bat wings.

Still, it was one of my original design points when creating the outlook. And maybe, just MAYBE we can make winged golems like that one day.

The contest design trial time will soon run out. the Polling will soon begin in the coming week end. ^^;

Its still not to late for folks to post mecha designs of their style to be added to the list. XD

Okay, you do that Dal. I was planning on doing it myself, but as you stated it first, you earn the dips this time. ^^

Question: When you say the manticore is going to be a two-seater golem is it supposed to have saddles, or have the pilots/controllers inside it in a cockpit?
The latrer would make it quite a bit larger and I need a size reference to judge how much materials it would need and how long time it would take to build it. :)

I was under the impression that the picture Elhvir gave http://th04.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2 ... 22dx.jpg?1 was an emulation of Illhar'dro siege golems, which have the two pilots in a cockpit

That large? Going to need to make all limbs detachable then, or it won't fit in the ship storage holds.
Thanks for the reference though. :)

It's still much smaller than the ballista.

Instead of making all of the limbs detachable, we can just have them coil in. Just like when a cat or dog lays down. That way making the unit move doesn't take hours of re-attaching limbs back in. Tail, however, I understand completely for detaching.

Plus, I was kinda under impression that we can store the unit quite easily in. (main body's measures are around 2,2m x 3,2m x 6m, if taking in head.) Limbs might add 0,5-1,0 meters or so to the numbers when lying down, I think. Unless we need additional room for some extra things inside the main body, in which case I understand ST's point completely (Though, I want to bring up that Sarghress seem to be able to make power armor-sized golems that still work. Even if we can't do that well, I don't see this thing being THAT big with the internal working parts and whatnot). Can't say anything 100% yet, as we haven't seen that much of golem interiors about anywhere.
