North Road Expedition.

Postby 3Power on Thu Jul 12, 2012 7:38 pm

I would like five volunteers not off at war to help me launch an expedition to the north near where the flare went up.

There's no way for me to limit how many people can go on the expedition, but as we're purely a scouting force, it's best to keep things small and mobile.

As for class, I'm an explorer atm, and would appreciate at least one healer, at least one other explorer, one or two hunters, and if possible, a mana specialist. We NEED at least one hunter for the tracks.

If you want to join the expedition, please state your intention in this thread, and copy-paste the following block of text so I know you've read it:
I understand that any trip into the woods carries with it the possibility of my character being injured and/or killed, and that the likelihood of this is increased if I do not vote for the expedition advice EVERY TURN until it is completed. I also understand that by not voting for the expedition I increase the possibility of it failing or being delayed while the rest of the expedition searches for me when i get lost. I will not post any advice on my own without first consulting Trey'la, who is in charge of keeping the plan organized. While Trey'la is the expedition organizer, she is not a monarch and any actions can and should be discussed and voted upon democratically should any problems occur during the expedition. If I am on the war expedition I should not join this one. I should not join this expedition if there is any chance of me not being online and available for next few weeks at the minimum. I will ensure my class is changed to something useful before the expedition leaves.

Trey, I'm sorry to point out, but you are not an explorer, but a crafter.

I would join. My class is forester which should be as much help as an explorer imo. I'm just curious if this is an expedition to find the traders, or just to track down whatever made the flare, and how long ago was that?

Blame the site. A few days ago the same thing happened, where I became classless. I'm gonna ask what's going on.

Right now it's an expedition to find what made these humanoid shaped tracks. It may answer the question of what made the flare or where the nals are. So the short answer is "maybe." If you're going to join though please change your class to something listed above. Forester is for cutting down trees.

The first one was listed as "Eastern Flare" even though Trey changed the title. Anyway, I got a response from Thalar saying that I could use two characters at once, as long as one votes for the LA and the other votes EA. Siut'rinoss advice passed, so I think I'll join the Northern expedition.

Here's proof:

I guess as long as you can do that balancing act yourself, yes. You are aware that you'll need to choose one of the two once the downgrade is ready to go live? The character which is active at that point (I expect we'll have warning ahead of time) will be imported and the other will not.

Well you have my vote as an extra vote if you want it Trey. I won't vote until you give the heads up though as I understand the need to stay organized.

The current roster of the expedition, for future reference, is:
Kris'tian: Explorer
Biel Tel'Mari: Explorer
Zurus: Hunter
Nel'Seer: Explorer
Anareth: Mana specialist
Ze'carga: Hunter
Eronas: Healer
Trey'la : Explorer

I'm going to be going straight home tomorrow, so I should be here for the update.

This is what my planned advice currently looks like:
Wait til sleep, signal Dvergar to distract guard. Sneak attack. Capture>Kill

However I'll wait until at least half of us have approved before putting it in.

How will we signal the dwarf without alerting the drow? I say wait until they are asleep and then have the hunters and explores try to take them with arrows before they know what hit them.

I like it, but what if the dvergar is out cold/or has his eyes bind or wounded or alseep, that seems quite possible given the situation? Then a sound would rather draw the attention of the guard who´s awake then the one of the dvergar.

Better either do a distraction yourself or let an explorer post the advise cause for their extra scout sneakiness. And even then there won´t be a granted 100% success in killing the guard without making any sound. Maybe it would be good to either think of a distraction for the escape or kill/get them all in their sleeps when freeing the dvergar.

Also the dvergar might be slow due wounds or just cause he has short legs, that´s also needs to be considered by this plan.

That said i am for freeing the dvergar, first cause those assholes needs a lesson teached and the warriors won´t be home for quite some time and if, we´re probably beat/tired. Also that dvergar is our best bet to calm down the dvergar who might think we betrayed them as well as to asl what to do with the burned corpses of his people.
So i´m for freeing him, just not exactly the way you wrote the advise. Maybe we can think about it a bit longer.

Also does anybody else have problems with teh shoutbox chat currently? I can´t see it.

if we are going to use bolts then no point in waiting for them to go to sleep; we shouldn't include the dvergar in any plan since it is a third party and we have no clue how it will react. I suggest "surround kill majority at range, then attempt to capture remaining drow" (73 characters)

You´ve got a mana specialist, once the dvergars freed and the remaining 6 drows wakes up, burn their tents and stuff, that will keep them busy.

I think if you can we should try to surprise them in their sleep, that way we can also retake what they stole from our allies/what we gave them and we wont have to send another food escort to the dvergar base.

Same here James, about the shoutboxt I mean. Anyway, I suggest we take out the enemy first before rescuing the dvergar. He's not much help to us right now. Like Trey said, we wait until most of the enemy falls asleep. Snipe the night watchers. then go in an tie up the sleeping enemy. Here's a revision of Trey's advice:

Wait until enemy asleep.Hunters snipe watchers to kill.Capture the rest.

Stealth is key right now. We and the enemy are evenly match when in comes to number(we haev 8, but the 8th guy is a healer). But we didn't have a good look at the enemy. They could be better arm then us, so a stealthy preemptive strike is needed.
