What to do with our visitors?

Postby Tibanna Vilrath on Wed Oct 12, 2011 11:06 pm

Well we know now that the noises were made from people, but we dont know yet what people they are. Even so i would like to point out some possibilities.

They were hostile from the start. -> All is well. We will kill or enslave them and everything is good.

They werent hostile. Traders, fugitives, wild tribe whatever.

Now there are two ways. They didnt know what happened -> we help them and get new friends (but i dont believe that because they shoot relatively accurate in our direction)
They do know what happened -> They will hate/fear us. If we let them go they will spread the tale where we live and what we did. Our reputation on the surface will be damaged or worse they get support for payback.

So i think if the last options applies we should kill them all to keep this encounter a secret. as hard as it may be this will protect our reputation and our location.

They are at E-19 with a road that goes to our home of Ama'varde, E-20 and less then a days march.
They were mistaken as beasts with a bone chilling growl in colony 23.
We struck first with an avalanche assuming them beasts or a primitive tribe.
Cries of a child was heard. The tail of a wagon train or camp is usually where the non-combatants of an army group/camp are in medieval warfare. (whores and their children) or it could be a nomadic town that sprang up.
They struck back with a cannon shot that caused an avalanche burring Brorn's team, the cannon means Dvugar.

Dragoneye is going in to rescue the miners and secure the area from attack.
Brorn is digging himself out and making a light fortification in the process.

We´ve got too less info to do either a bloody slaugther or to try to gain a new ally after they go homely in/near our stone mine and we let an avalanche fall onto their heads. XD

It will also depend on what Xexe will do with her action.

But i say, we should wait for next week and see how they react to our presence. And we should try to gather more infos. After all, they live just a day march away from our home, use explosives to shoot projectiles and live in/near our only sourve for stone for building stuff.

How we gonna deal with them will be important. But right now all we know are:

-strange camp
-a child crying
-a warcry
-explosive in the mist, followed by projectile which hits intended target to bring down one more avalanche
-that´s it^^

Not enough to start a war or to start a trade route, is it? XD
Next week i hope we get to know more about the situation. :3

Dycle - good analysis aside of this part:

We do not know what projectile it was:

- could be magical - could mean drow or other elven
- could be chemo-mechanical - could mean duergar
- could be mechanical - could been goblin
- could be sound, electrical or other wave - could be any new type of enemy

I agree that the situation is very bad and to turn it to at least a tigh will be very difficult.

Nope, we can pretty much tell that they´re Duegars/Duergers (was it with or without r?).

It says it here:

A loud explosion from within the mist, sending a projectile flying over the heads of the Miners.

Mana doesn´t make explosion sounds to send somethign flying. At least we haven´t seen such so far in DT or PtP. Also if there would be elves/drow, we would have sensed their mana, but nothing like that is written.
Goblins don´t use explsoives, they´ve got their bows, catapults, etc, but they lack chemo-technology.
Alas, the only race we know which send things flying after an explosion are the duegars.

We can be around 95% sure. Maybe ven 98%. :P
