I'm still pretty new here, but there was an issue that just came to mind that I feel might need to be properly addressed.

From what I've noticed, there is a surplus of miners working on stone mining, which is okay, as we haven't really had access to anything else so far, and I understand people want experience. BUT, we will soon have access to both iron, and gemstone veins, so I feel we need to get some kind of organized up in here. As people will likely demand, we will need to mine the iron in order for the smiths to be able to work, but at the same time, we cannot all just abandon mining the stone. We need that, especially if the next action gets passed. A stone wall around the colony will require a load of resources, so we need to make sure some people stay with it.

My proposal is this: We make some kind of list to keep track of who will be doing what. Like a record of who will be working on stone, and who will be working on iron, and such. Just a little something to help make sure that we get the most out of each turn.

Opinions?
What? Is something wrong with my hair? Why do you keep looking at me like that?-Winkro

I would just make it policy that if you go to join a job and notice that you're not reducing the time any, it's time to look for another mining site to work at. If there are no other viable mining sites, then might as well keep on purely for the XP. At the moment our stone site is overfilled- significantly overfilled, I suspect- so this policy should push enough people elsewhere to help balance things out a bit.

Unfortunately, I suspect that our mining activities for most of the foreseeable future are going to be dictated much more by available resources than personnel distribution. We simply don't have enough deposits of stone, iron, and coal; finding more is the explorers' job, so hopefully they'll be successful enough that we'll be able to get more sooner or later. It's very odd that we can deplete our resource veins so easily- what kind of viable extraction site is emptied in a matter of weeks or months by a relative handful of workers?- but a lot of this game is abstracted in somewhat inconsistent ways. And until certain bugs are gone and we can actually level, we won't be able to do any gemstone mining at all, which is pretty terrible for certain professions but there's really nothing to be done about that except wait for the development team to finally get around to fixing things.

Well... You could try to promote an action that would make use of the 'Shale Cliffs' (G21)... Something about testing the rock there for usability for decorate purposes... floor-tiles, roof-tiles, outdoor pavers, etc... Slate would be best for that kind of thing... I guess It depends on weather Thalar is willing list such things separately to 'normal' stone... Perhaps Marble (for statues)? That's valuable enough to be separated from normal stone...

Recent events have shown me that if i want to get involved with the game i will need to exercise a better presence on the boards.

I am asking that if we are going to be doing any projects, i would appreciate a heads-up for my votes to be cast by contacting me through facebook. I will give you my support as a miner for any mining projects we do so long as i receive a notice. I am not asking for this as a "hey, come to ME" thing, but rather, "if we are planning anything large and you want support, let me know."

i live on my phone these days, and my phone only lets me use facebook. These forum boards are a PC thing, and i only come home to sleep and shower.

That being said, good luck, guys and gals! I'll follow our progresses on the comics.

Can someone please begin a mining tunnel to the iron ore at the mountainous region of J-27?

Since we cannot access it via the map, the only way would be to start digging a damn mine straight into the mountain itself via the EA advice.

Could you guys submit a new miners action? "Dig Tunnel"

The idea would be it would be like a road for areas like mountains >>

Hmm...Apparently I forgot to tell you guys. Thalar told me that she would be open to giving Miner's a "Prospect" action, an exploration like option specifically for for Miners.

Sounds good to me... except for the fact that the last time a search for resources was inserted was a long time ago.
Personally I would recommenced it being a % based system with the odds being determined by terrain type.

That's not in the game system and will not be added.
How it will go down is like the explorers.

Step 1: Promote the action to prospect, Thalar makes the action available to miners.
Step 2: You conduct the action on the maps system.
Step 3: In the LA give the Illharis a report on what you found, then Thalar inputs the recourse in the designated square.
Step 4: Repeat from step 2 in new area.

Guys a question based on the new update - any idea where to get the salt ?

If not getting it to the trade "to shop" list, there are 3 possible resources:

- rocky salt = it means to find crystalized salt in rocks and mine it - I have no idea how to find such (a spring of salty water probably only) and do not remember any notices on salty rocks or such = miners action
- muddy salt = it means to find salty mud or earth, open a salt pit (similar to clay pit) and the do a salt "refining" process (actually it is just let the salt melt to water and then boil the water until it dries and lets the salt there) - such places could be found by observing the deer (promotion activity for hunters maybe ?), because the forest animals tend to go lick such salty land = miners and probably engineers or crafters action
- sea salt = it means to dry out the sea water (boiling it out or just using special drainage water fields) - any one remember any notices if the water south on the map is actually a sea ? = engineers or crafters action

Advice for next week:
"Expand the mine at J27 look for iron, coal"
