Timotheus's An-Teeks and Supply Warehouse

Postby Timotheus on Wed Jun 23, 2010 7:20 pm

TIMOTHEUS'S AN-TEEKS AND SUPPLY WAREHOUSE
(And it's not spelled Thimoteus)

Image

Following the best corporate practices I thought we should start off with a mission statement followed by an introductory commentary about what this organization does.

Our Mission, Whether We Choose To Accept It Or Not, Is To Have Fun And Get The Job Done.

So What Are We Doing Here?
In an attempt to eliminate some of the confusion, I tried to research just what were the assigned duties of the Supply Masters and their assistants. This is what I could find. If anyone knows of a more concise description I'd appreciate having it pointed out.

The assigned mission of the Supply Master:
On day 2 of Chapter 1 An'jhali announced the creation of the rank of Supply Master "To Organize Food Gathering And Its Distribution" for the Tei'kaliath clan. Lady Katralya volunteered to be the first Supply Master and the post was established. By day 4 of chapter 1 the Supply Master and her volunteers were out exploring the area looking for useful materials, discovering and gathering clay and crystal samples. So how did we go from being a food gathering and distributing organization to going out looking for clay and crystals in two days? The archives don't really say, it just happened, like most of the rest of the decisions that shaped what our group does. And we just kept expanding outward. The first Kirisu hunt was a joint Harvester - Scout affair. The initial resource surveys were done by Katralya not the scouts (they were making the maps). Mining, building, Katralya and her crew have been involved in every other group's core activity (including the warriors) at one point or another throughout the story. Usually once or twice and then never again, but we were there initially.

So what is the Supply Master and his or her assistants actual mission?
Essentially it's to find, collect, and/or gather anything needed by anybody else in the clan that isn't being taken care of by someone else. Mostly this is food - discovering it, finding it, growing it, gathering it, developing it, preparing it, preserving it, and storing it. After food comes raw materials and supplies needed by other groups for their tasks, like clay and sand. We seem to have the monopoly on gathering clay, since all of the other materials we've gathered have also been collected, purchased, or traded for by the groups that use them or some other group on their behalf. So if it isn't edible or clay we don't necessarily deal with it. But we are supposed to watch the inventory and try to keep enough of the basic raw materials on hand for normal projects and flag them when more might be needed.

We're also supposed to be the clan's traders and merchants, selling surplus items or crafted goods in the market in Chel'el'susoloth or to passing traders and buying needed supplies we can't make ourselves. But again this seems to be a highly situational assignment that varies from time to time. And lately the Supply Master cannot leave Ther'avare to go into Chel'el'susoloth without having all the other Harvesting operations shut down for lack of supervision, so this function has become pretty much moot.

So effectively, our job is to keep doing whatever we've been doing in the past and hope that that's what we're supposed to be doing. Despite all the other things we're involved in, the only real, absolute duty we have is to keep the Tei'kaliath clan fed and to make sure we have enough food in reserve to keep it that way. In accomplishing this duty however, we have a very broad and almost unrestricted mandate of which we control all aspects from start to finish and also get to define most of its terms and limitations. It's because of this that we have become involved in so many other fields, we already had the infra-structure (or were going to have to create it) so we might as well get involved in this too.

And this I believe is the purpose of the Supply/Harvester Group - we do what's expected of us as best we can.

Last Updated - Wednesday June 16, 2010 - M2 - day 20-21

Mana plants: Some plants with mana generating aura ability survived the cataclysms of the moon ages and were brought to the underworld. The most popular are the ones that also generate an organic light, are decorative and can grow without sunlight. They would die quickly if in contact by nether demons. (MA - chapter 5 - page 24)

Food Units: One unit by itself or in combination with others will feed ten Drow. Therefore any combination of 30 units will feed three hundred Drow, or the clan. Individual inventory items may be consumed individually or used up for a specific purpose.
Combined Food Inventory Should Remain Above 420 Units. (two game weeks)

Food supplies were moved from the river storage building to the tower storage (created chapter 1, day 77-79) in Ther'avare during chapter 2, day 91. The River Storage Building is now empty or only used for temporary storage.

The tiktikkis were discovered to be unhappy in the river enclosure at chapter 1, day 26 and released to roam free in Ther'avare in chapter 1, day 28

Merchant Visits: Chapter 1, day 22 / Chapter 1, day 52 / Chapter 2, day 91 / Moon 1, day 2-4 (not covered in comic) / Moon 2, day 4-5
They are on a roughly 30 day schedule so next visit.... arrived Moon 2, day 23-24

2010-04-14 Chapt 2 Moon 2, Day 8 - Hand powered mills described as installed in Ther'avare
2010-05-19 Moon 2, day 13-14 - large 2 unit oven casing described as built in Ther'avare
2010-04-23 Chapt 2 Moon 2, day 9 - Lizard powered grinding mill described as installed by Riverside
EA had included roller press mill but it had been omitted because of time. It was completed the following week per the crafters and mana specialists actions but not mentioned in the comic.
Mega Oven is planned and designed for inside old warehouse but not scheduled for building until algae production warrants it.

algae flour = flour mixed - first done M 2, days 6-7-9 used five bags mixed flour at one grain / 5 algae.
mixed flour is currently (one grain / nine algae)
32 baked algae used to make 16 bags of algae flour

Algae oil from the press - 44 baked algae units or 22 algae flour units = 1 algae oil unit

This is the current draft of selected actions for the activity report. It will be changed or modified until submitted. They are presently suggestions based on current needs and conditions. Other ranked are welcome and indeed asked to criticize it.

Tentative action plan
Note -
Yellow is actual action - Blue is more detail about this action but could be left out.

ACTION PLAN FOR 6/27/2010 - rev. 4.0 - moon 2, day 25-26

Available Personnel - 14 Harvesters, 3 overseers, 14 harvester slaves, and 5 child slaves.

Katrayla remains as a Harvester.

Affirmative Action - 7 Harvesters go to Orthorbbae for ice magic training. The remaining Harvesters and Supply Master will cover for them.

Work Action - Algae gathering, oil pressing, baking, and mixed flour milling.
Five harvesters, the overseers and slaves will process algae. 3/4 for mixed flour. 1/4 baked.

One harvester will gather some of the un-named plant materials used to make the azure blue dye.

Special Note - Algae oil is collected during the roller pressing operation. Amount of oil to be decided by the GM. PM for references.

Trader Action - Join others with the Traders for:
Grain for mixed flour, try for 50 units.
Cloth for the crafters.
Sugar, candy, fruits (fresh or dried), and dairy products like cheese. (Either for these items or substitutes for them, like with the potato bugs.)
Use 200 to 300 units of coal and up to twenty ada for purchasing.

Depict - Katrayla and Ni'his'ie

Resources used - good grain, coal

Affirmative Action - 7 Harvesters go to Orthorbbae for ice magic training, they will return in three days. Remaining Harvesters and Supply Master will cover for them.

Trader Action - The Supply Master will see the Traders about certain supplies.
Grain for mixed flour, 50 units would be good.
Cloth for the crafters.
Also sugar, candy, fruits (fresh or dried), and dairy products like cheese.
(While they probably don't have these, they may have ideas about possible sources or substitutes for them, like with the potato bugs.)
Negotiate the deal using 200 to 300 units of coal and up to twenty ada. If more ada are required it will have to get ranked approval.

Work Action - Algae gathering, oil pressing, baking, and mixed flour milling.
Five harvesters, the overseers and the harvester slaves will process algae. 3/4 for mixed flour. 1/4 baked.
Special Note - Algae oil is collected during the roller pressing operation. The amount of oil generated to be decided by the GM.
For reference http://www.mehmetguide.com/WEB22jan/18- ... 0stone.JPG

One harvester is sent to gather some of the un-named plant materials used to make the azure blue dye.

END ACTION

Don't know what to say, I thought I cut and pasted your name from your original request. I could blame my monitor I suppose, I and l do look a lot alike.
Anyway, you were the first to volunteer. Next I'll be looking for a spinner watcher and a nursery garden attendant. These jobs don't really mean anything other than bragging rights and I can say someone is assigned the job of making sure everything is being taken care of with that area.

Speaking of which, with Tim now in charge, we crafters might have to get cracking on figuring out how to actually make paper, pens, and ink. 8P

YOU SPELT MY NAME WRONG! *RABBLERABBLERABBLE*

It's "J'hon" D'rak.

At this point i would like to official volunteer to look after the spinners (i used to have silk worms when i was a kid - these seem to be much the same).
The way i see it there are only three thing to worry about when dealing with the spinners: 1) Feeding, 2) Breeding - how regularly do the reproduce? how long will and individual 'worm' live? 3) Colecting - 'harvesting' the silk whenever a certain volume is reached (not colecting early, but not letting it build up to much either), including determining a basic scedual/timeline for the process.

None of this would automaticaly be visable mind you... I put that all down more as a reference of wether or not i would be capable of handling that sort of detail if that level of detail was considered appropriate.

It wasn't me, it was Thimoteus. He can't spell worth a darn.

As for Silk Spinners, you'll know when we do. I'm just going to check on them every couple days. Or rather you're going to supposedly report to me or the Ranked Crafter every couple of days on their status till we do know.
