I agree that we should make sure that entrance remains under our control and no one elses, it be a pain to fight another minor clan for the rights to it again.

I'm only kidding but really, last time you did go over board with your warrior's need for rest. ^^;

I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm curious as to why you think I went overboard.

I already addressed this with a strong discouragement; the effort required to mine the components to make these items, which are consumable, is a waste that puts us behind the production curve of other drow clans who are not wasting their time chasing after dvergar tech. We are better spent growing stronger and being able to overcome enemies through maneuvers and skill rather than a surprise tactic.

Thalar wrote:How about posting guards at our cavern's exit toward the surface before a dvara'ka clone comes to claim it once more?

I include the eastern exit as part of our patrol route; whenever possible, I post lookouts at our entrances. So, yes, this is definitely high on my list of things we pay attention to.

As for what's next, we'll give the squads that just came back from the mine light patrol duty, and we'll be back to patrolling. If things stay quiet, we'll look into training with our new gear sometime in the near future (hopefully next turn). From now on, our focus is the Ther'avare cavern and making sure the settlers feel safe and secure.

I'm going to recommend that the warriors handle the tax collecting alone, so that the settlers associate it with us directly and don't have bad feelings towards the rest of the clan if they don't like it. Taxes are never popular and tax collectors less so, so anything to make the Ilhar, ambassador, healer and clan's job easier is something definitely want to do.

The influx of crystals should definitely help with getting us moar shields. :3

I have a suggestion for what the warriors could do as part of the upcoming settlement celebration: AN OPEN ARCHERY COMPETITION!

Serriously, we have a stockpile of bows that dont get used at all right now, and by using them for this, we also ensure that there will be an even playing field for all competitors. Both clan members (via a 'volunteer advice' at the apropriate time) and settlers (to be determined by Kern) would be invited to compete (note: different 'leagues' for clan and settlers?). There would be some small prize for the best archer (money? fancy food? Get to keep the bow as a personal posetion? other?).

This way we can have some sort of martial competition in the settlement, without "giving away" our unique Tir'ay fighting style (maybe have a Tir'ay display as a secondary activity). There is also another benifit that may come out of having the competition open to settlers... The fact that if enough settlers take part, we may have to option to 'deputise' some of them as an auxiliary guard/security unit, decreasing presure on the ACTUAL warriors (think about it, a squad of settlers who can do some basic policing of the settlement area so the warriors don't -have- to. Perhaps have a single warrior to lead them, to keep them in line?).

I could go into way more detail with this idea, but i figured that would be stepping on the warriors toes (though i would very much intend on taking part in such a comp - see my chars RP sheet to see why *hint*). But yeah, theres my idea, pweeeease use it >puppy eyes<.

Well, for 3 weeks we only had 1 squad available for escorts. And there was lots of escorting to be done. We slowed the progress of other ranked actions quite a bit. Things took long time to get done.
I don't object to resting but Kern never said there was any strain to warriors after Dva'raka war except for the 2 squads of wounded who needed rest and I think the other squads rested longer than was necessary.

So I hope you see now why I think you went overboard. :]

With PtP we need less detail, not more. XD The problem with this is that this isn't really a warrior competition; we don't do ranged anymore. So us sponsoring this doesn't really make much sense; since specialization is our life blood here, the warriors will keep pushing melee as much as possible to ensure that we are the scariest we can be at melee range. Gotta max our DPS! Nobody uses the bows for a reason; we could and probably should melt them down and turn them into crossbows for the scouts.

Another problem is that the people aren't paying to police their own stuff. Part of their taxes mean they get protected by us; that's how it works.

We're already planning on teaching the settlers to call for help using our mana flare signals, giving them a way to summon that protection in the hopes that they will call for us instead of relying on themselves or (worse) another clan.

We don't have personal possessions in this game and any contests/tournaments have to be organized and run on the forum, which is complicated. The LA system isn't set up for it and an archery competition doesn't really line up with how are Clan is already set up.

The part of the idea still has merit, though, and I like it. If the warriors want to have some kind of a drive down in the settled area to test interested people to "deputize" them, as you say, that might be an interesting idea and worth some consideration. Offering them some kind of light militia gear, training and maybe a relief from taxes for their service, but they would require rules and it could get complicated.

But it would definitely need to be separate from the party we're throwing. We shouldn't try to hide it behind a game, we should simply come out and do it, but it's definitely worth a shot. We won't even think of getting to it for a few turns, though, so please don't jump the gun on it.

Three IRL weeks, which amounts to six in-game days, after four in-game days of the hardest conflict we'd ever faced, and the most grievous injuries we'd ever taken, with a follow-up of looting the Dvara'ka fortress.

Further, we weren't sitting on our ass doing nothing, we still had to patrol, which means that we weren't doing a full rest, thus making the rest take longer. If we had been able to just take a day off from protecting, I'd probably have just done that and been done with it. But we don't have that luxury.

You don't wait until you need a rest to take one, you rest while you have the ability to, that way we are always ready and at peak condition. If we wait until Kern tells us we are exhausted, overworked and need a break, I guarantee you it will not be at a convenient time. It was preventative and in the best interests of keeping Ther'avare safe, which is our primary responsibility, even if production suffers a bit.

You should probably expect something similar after every conflict we have, whenever possible.

In other news, we down from eight squads to six. Had to juggle people around.

I noticed some of the existing squads themselves are missing gear, like Squad 2 has only 4 blades even though there's five members, and or even members, like three people instead of five :B

On the plus side, less squads means it's easier to uber them up.

Nooooo! Where'd Ys'sa go? We need our uniqueness! Not to mention one of our FIRST warriors!

Also I find it hilarious that the biggest member of the clan and the smallest (outside of baby Anji) are now in the same squad)

Still, Madea, I think things have been much smoother if we had waited with resting till wounded are healed. Though yes, 1 squad took bit long to heal thanks to the lost limbs.

Ah, I remember the time Taruna was my squad leader. Oh, all the Morale training... and was fun when Taruna was all pissed at the mysterious ninjas. Good times. You are lucky to be trained by Taru-chan, Tath! Her training does not go wasted!

I also noticed Ys'sa disappearing, but we still have her ax! Hopefully she'll be back, that ax is what keeps most of enemies from attacking us! A cute girl swinging that huge thing is a fearsome sight.
