I am not referring to the lack of voting but that lack of faceless in the jobbed positions. One of the reasons why we didn't get a mana specialist is because we have too few people participating. Opening another ranked position now would stretch our already participating members too thin. Our calls to the faceless so far have been on tepid side so we have only got a tepid response in return from them. If the Ill'haress steps up the call in a more bold fashion we will get more out of them. It is a silent crisis that has been brewing under our watch and it has really brought the clan to a stand still. I feel there will be little progression until it is addressed like any other crisis. We shouldn't be satisfied with 40% participation when it should be twice that.

I'd like to see the Ill'haress visit the healing station, I think it would be a good moral boost to the wounded Tei'kaliath for them to get a visit from An'jhali. But that could be part of her visiting all the ranked members working in the ruins, so that option is also good. And on another note, we should give An'jhali the apple to eat soon, we don't want it to go bad and I think she's the most deserving of it. *smallsmile* (Just make sure to save the seeds!)

*lol*
80%? ha-ha. Most subscribers are only here to read. I haven't calculated it recently, but on the more active weeks I'm pretty sure we have a better subscriber to voter ratio than Daydream and the number of ranked + assistants is nearly double the average vote total (not everyone votes every week due to RL things like vacations and other distractions).
I do know that there are P2P members who also have accounts in Relic Hunters and are active in that shout box who do not participate in P2P (and may not even be voting *tear* ). The P2P shout box has a tendency to get pretty wild compared to the Daydream and Relic Hunters shout boxes which may be putting people off. *sweatdrop*

Did anyone consider the fact that right now is the time most people take a nice long vacation and this easily could be the reason we're seeing this lull? They just plain don't have access to a computer or want to have access.

Once again voting is not nearly as important as creating a character and getting a job. Players don't have to take the time to vote every week to make a character and really contribute. It takes less than a minute to fill out a name in the character description box and then maybe a another 5 minutes to make a post asking to be hired. After that if they ignore the game entirely it doesn't matter. Their character will still be contributing every turn even if the player is not around. Right now the clan suffers from 60% unemployment. Under no standard should that be seen as acceptable. This is a real serious crisis that we have here.

((If next week is another 'dead' week, perhaps you should enter that as an option, Novusod. A little direction/advertising never hurt and is probably one of the more productive options we can suggest at this time. Given that it only needs a minimum of one panel at the end of a page, it shouldn't need a majority to go through. Although I wouldn't call it a crisis, myself, it is a concern we can continue to address in times of lull. Not the sort of thing we need to stress on the LA every week, but once every 2-3 months (8-12 LA updates) shouldn't hurt assuming the response is adequate to warrant suggesting to do it more than once.))

Woah, calm down, (Madea is laughing at me for that comment I bet. :P ) Yes, for realism's sake the participation SHOULD be about 90-95%. However, I don't think it's realistic to expect paying subscribers to an entertainment site to take their membership that seriously. Putting up a ton of participation requirements will just drive the casual readers off. We DON'T want to do that. Confronting potential customers with a lot of hoops to jump through to get to the comic (even ones that only take a minute or two) causes many to think, 'F&$% this noise' and go spend their money somewhere else.

OK I think you misunderstand what I am proposing. I am not saying turn the sign-up process into something a kin to filling out forms at the DMV. I am saying we need a panel in the leader archive where the Ill'haress confronts these faceless who have no jobs with a compelling plea for them to get to work and support the clan.

Its up to Kern what we could be allowed to do with our faceless members maybe he can allow us to every once in a while be allowed to use them. From my understanding they are like sheep and if you know what you are doing you can pretty much tell them what to do and were to go

((I think Novusod is talking about basically asking An'jhali to address the faceless in game to advertise in RL to the subscribers that haven't signed up for a profession yet. I do not believe he's proposing that we use the refugee faceless as we see fit.))

Y'know it's been brought up before about using the faceless members (those that don't create characters and/or just read the comic) without the suscriber's permission. Since they apparently don't seem to be willing to use their characters on their own.

Kern shot that idea down outright. Yes, it would be nice to have the extra bodies to fit into jobs that need them or to grab them for random tasks. But we just can't do that without their permissions.

Personally I've come to think of them as more like the random city-folk you'd run into in say... New York City.
We know they're there. We see them everyday, but we can't convince them to do something unless they want to.

Having the Il'Haress make a public plea to have more suscribers register a character and a job may not have as much (if any) of an effect as you might like. Instead, why don't we just continue as we do all the time. With Reza back, updates should be coming back on schedule. So, if people see everything that is going on they might just join up on their own.

well we can always add those in once in awhile but if you do it too often it could scare away the ppl that just want to enjoy a good story

Sure they may be here just to read a good story but they should know this is no ordinary story. Path to Power is more like the "Never Ending Story" where the reader actually affects what happens. High unemployment has slowed progress of the clan down considerably. Basically we are down to torturing the slavers and opening the door in the basement. If the story is to continue it could only be through some form of challenge such as another band from Chel entering the cavern. Even then we can't completely handle it with all options on the table. It is going to be difficult to do diplomacy without the diplomat rank. I really think we are roadblocked if we can't get more participation.

I'd like to see more participation too, but I doubt that will happen. In recent times alot of people have signed onto PtP and character involvement has greatly increased, but to increase participation in the level of 80% to 90% would be... impossible.

Half of the people who read this comic are probably sitting back and laughing at us, wondering what we're gonna do next and if An'jhali will be part of another swimsuit contest. I'll admit that I was not much different in the past. I was a member of PtP for a few months before deciding to create a character and sign on to help. While such things may seem unfair to those willing to put in the time and effort to help their clan, there's not alot we can do about it.

All that we can do right now is think of ways to do things with as little resources and effort om the part of the willing members as possible. If the ones waiting on the sidelines don't want to share in our glory, that's fine. It leaves more glory for the rest of us. }:3

From the Shout Box:
Kern : I'd like to know what the community think about shifting from 3 pages per in-game day to 1 page per in-game day? So that the clan can grow faster.

It seems that Kern is of a bit different point-of-view. Probably all we really need to advance to a level where we can do the grander things we want to do is allow more time to pass.
It doesn't seem to be that bad of an idea. Since we are not in dire need of much at the moment, we should just increase the clock so we can see a more rapid development and our ranked members can come up with full daily plans instead of 1/3 day plans.
