So officially, the miners made the best deal of everyone selling stuff. So, should everyone start thanking the miners now that we made such a good deal for the caln...(and renn for her crystal insistance *ooo* )

Ironically, none of those events are on my list of goals for the plan, which probably explains why you disagreed with it. Expecting the Siksa'santi to do anything we want without a better understanding of their motivations isn't feasible, so my plan was designed so that - no matter what they do - we're going to get something out of it.

That's alright, though.

I just wanted witnesses to see us get there first. So I'm hoping we get there and the Nal'sarkoth show up just in time to diffuse the situation, thus allowing us to walk away without looking like we went running for help.

Misdirection and subterfuge, it's quickly becoming our one-two punch tactic.

The Warriors do something big and flashy, while the scouts go and get shit done. <3

Wow, I wasn't expecting An'jhali to go to the Val'Nalsarkoth until the Leader Archive was updated (assuming that option received enough votes). The Val'Nal'Sarkoth reaction is everything I'd hoped it would be when I voted for seeking intervention in the hostage situation.
This week's EA update is nothing but win. *beer*

MWA HA HA HA HA HA HA! WE HAVE CLOTH! CLOTH I SAY!

And damn it-- it is a light, off white color that is easily DYED. No more gray unless we dye it so. Which we will. As soon as the potties are all made.

NS are involved which is the ideal solution to this situation. Hopefully they will point out to the Siksa that they are being childish and stupid to capture ambassadors and to chill out, and maybe even add in that we aren't so bad as we seem. Might not get us to neutrality with the Siksa but if it can defuse the situation we can both agree to hate each other from a distance and leave it at that. I don't *think* the peace march will cause any complications beyond looking odd, hopefully.

Well, in addition to originally posting the idea of asking the Nal for backup in the shoutbox and the forums immediately after the LA page appeared, in my submitted scout action, I wrote:
Note: I am assuming the "Ask Nal'sarkoth for help" option wins.
• We ask An'jhali to write a letter to the Nal'sarkoth asking for mediation, and then run as fast as we can to deliver it. (Or if An'jhali wants to come with us, we escort her.) We explain that we sent an ambassador to the Siksa'santi to try and work out our differences peacefully - to avoid more conflict in Chel that might affect commoners, but they took our ambassador and escort hostage. We humbly ask for mediation help, and advice about the Queen's Law.

So everything was aimed at getting Kern to send her with us in our action (thus increasing the chance of success with the Nal), instead of just saying that we take her with us ourselves, which might have been rejected by Kern, or maybe even vetoed, given that many people were insisting that she stay safe at home. So everything went according to plan. *smallsmile*

Yes, Madea and I discussed how to best dovetail our actions and the LA options within the first 12 hours after the page appeared, and then we each worked to make sure our respective actions and the supporting LA options succeeded. Without the scout action, the warrior march might end badly without recourse; without the warrior action, it looks like we are just crying to the Nal for help. Both actions together have a better chance of succeeding, with the additional advantage of a Nal fail-safe in case the Siksa are even more pissed than we think, or if we are mistaken about what passes for honor and the Queen's Law in Chel.

Well, it's certainly looking good so far. It'll be interesting to see how things turn out in the Leader Archive update. B)

We should keep in my that we own the Nal something afterward. Even if they not demand something it's just fair, if we can pay them back by doing them a favour someday in the future. :)

Yeah I would like to do something nice for the Nal if this works out well. I don't think they're the type (like the Svarts) to point out that we owe them a favor, and there's likely little they need/want from us, but it would still be nice to think of something we could do to repay for the assistance.

New LA...and nobody has died :D

Seems Shiir has to fight a little girl in order to retain his honour... :P In all seriousness tho, she will be more of a challenge than the gladiator slave.

Also, nice moves Danikin ^^;

People, please try to remember that woman are stronger than men in Drowtales! ^^;

Ordinarily I would tell Shiir to kick the crap out of her...

But I don't know if He can win... :L

So basically the Siksa'santi seem to have countered us with a play of their own that forces us into making a choice between doing something that could be construed as cowardly and dishonorable (declining the challenge) or putting our Warmaster up against the daughter of the guy we possibly killed during the battle, which he may or may not win depending on just how l33t she is.

Since it's 99.9% guaranteed it seems that the duel will be accepted we should start discussion on how we might be able to set the terms the duel, or even if we can. With the Nal'Sarkoth sending their person in to help mediate things I think it may very well be possible to try and set a few terms for the fight. Do all duels have to be to the death in DT drow society? Could this be a 'to first blood' thing? Killing this girl could prove very, very bad if she's at all related to the Siksa'santi Illhar. If she's pissed at us now, killing her own child could lead to a disastrous turn of events for us. We really should take advantage of Nal'Sarkoth presence to try and diffuse this situation into as non-volatile a thing as possible.

Two thoughts on terms;

1) The release of our hostages should be made a requirement as a part of accepting the duel, not winning it. We want our people free, no matter what the outcome is.

2) Odd idea; but in the chance Shiir can pull off a win, and we don't want to kill her, would it be possible to arrange for her to be held by our clan as a long term "guest". Basically if its part of the terms of the duel, terms enforced by Nal'Sarkoth presence, we could keep the girl with us as basically a hostage of our own against the good behavior of the Siksa'santi. This wouldn't be underhanded or wrong because it'd be part of the official terms of the duel; if she loses, she comes with us. This avoids the messiness of having to kill her and deal with a permanent blood feud with the Siks, and keeping her around could prove to be all we need as a method of keeping the Siks in line. Of course this would all hinge on Shiir winning.

Hmm, either way, still a sticky situation for our Clan.
There is a fine line between awesome and ridiculous. Badai uses that line to floss his teeth.
