Goals Before the Time Skip

Postby Hetros on Sat Mar 24, 2012 7:29 pm

Okay, we got some works to do people. So far we seem to have some solid goals, and I need people to keep their eye on the money here. I'm going to lay out what we're shooting to get done before the time skip happens.

I have organized them in order of importance/Achievability

Green Goals: Completed, don't worry about these.
Yellow Goals: On their way to being completed imminently
Red Goals: Not Started Yet, need people to volunteer for these or promise to get them done.
Blue Goals: THese cannot be achieved by anything short of the actual time skip posts.

1) The Military Revamp: Organized By Hetros
Project Goal: To rebuild our military completely with new weapons and armor.
Consequences for Failure: Our military is going to be a LOT less awesome come the time skip, possibly even seriously vulnerable.

-Subgoal A: Remaking Armors.
--->Mk.3 Warrior Armor designed by Naraan, completed and full compliment made.
Image
--->Mk.2 Mana Spec Armor designed by Jaibyrd, prototype forthcoming.
Image
--->Mk.2 Scout (Hunter/Explorer) Armor not designed

-Subgoal B: Melee Weapon Redesigns.
-Amavardian Sabers Designed
Image
-Anti-Armor Weapon Siege Axe designer
Image
-Long-Weapon Design Forthcoming (Spears, Halberds, Glaives, etc.etc.)
-Great-Weapon Design Forthcoming (Twohanders, axes, great-swords, stuff like that)

-Subgoal C: Ranged Weapon Redesigns (ACHIEVED/Unneeded)

Image
-Hand Weapon: Scout Auto-Bow
-Rapid-Fire Emplacement Weapon: Mounted Auto-Bow

2) *PRIORITY PROJECT!* Mana Pool Expansion: Organized by Trey'la
Project Goal: Expand the mana pool to the degree that it can support our current population, as well as allow free movement throughout the surrounding regions.
Consquences for Failure: We're going to start aging, we might even start aging enough to effect our physical abilities. You want wrinkles and grey hairs on your character? Then don't help out on this one.
Plan By Tim:
Image

Subgoal A: transplant sapling through out the city, and surrounding the city walls to saturate mana (Living things seem to act as a better blockage for it than nonliving things)
-Saplings found for transplanting
-Begun to transplanted sapplings within city walls
-Saplings not transplanted around city walls

Subgoal B: Use planters to transplant existing manaplants and put them in every building around the city.
-Manaplant pots finished and ready to be filled and distributed throughout the city.
-Manaplants not seeding, so not ready for transplanting
-Manaplants not transplanted into pots and distributed to all homes
-Manaplant seeds not replanted within the fields to continue the process

Subgoal C: Breed a hardier and more aggressive strain of Manaplants, then distrute seeds liberally throughout surrounding territories
-Hardiest and strongest manaplants not separated from the rest durring transplanting.
-Selective breeding for weed like traits (we want goddamn KUDZU here) not begun.
-Scattering of seeds along road network not begun.
-Scattering of seeds beyond road network not begun.

3) Golem Study: Organized by Minalia (ACHIEVED)
Project Goal: Loot and return with ruined ancient golem from ruins then study for production of our own golems.
Consequences for Failure: Our knowledge of golems will be heavily impeded, these are moonsage tech and could prove incredibly useful.

Subgoal A: Reach Ruins and return with golem parts
-Ruins have been reached.
-Golem sample has been broken down and loaded for return.
-Returned to settlement.

Subgoal B: Study Golem parts to reverse engineer for our own purposes
-RESEARCH MUST BE DONE DURING TIME SKIP.

4) Animal Domestication: Organized by Ze'carga
Project Goal: Tame/Domesticate any possible animals of use within our surroundings.
Consequences for Failure: No steady food supply, no milk, no wools, no cheeses, no certain supply of meat, skins, and bones, limits on our supply of beasts of burden and probably no war mounts.

Subgoal A: Tame/Domesticate Flying Horrors for falconry, meat, and/or eggs
-Flying Horror Habitat constructure
-Flying Horror Samples Caught and Caged
-Flying Horror Diet Discovered
-Flying Horror breeding practices not discovered, possibly immature samples?
-Flying Horror Taming has not begun.
-Flying Horror uses for war, guarding, or food not fully explored.

Subgoal B: Tame/Domesticate Mana Rats for use as weapons.
-Mana Rats captured and placed in habitats
-Mana Rat diet discovered
-Mana Rat Training has not begun
-Alternate uses for mana rats not fully discovered

Subgoal C: Tame/Domesticate Trideer for uses as beasts of burden, meat, and possibly milk.
-Trideer habitatconstructed
Image
-Trideer captured and placed within habitats
-Trideer diet discovered
-Trideer taming has not begun
-Trideer uses in terms of beasts of burden, food, and similar not fully explored.

-Kurr habitat not constructed.
-Kurr not captured.
-Kurr diet possibly discovered (but not confirmed)
-Kurr taming has not begun
-Kurr use as mounts and war animals has not been fully explored. Possible breeding program required to remove worst of aggressive impulses.

Subgoal E: Tame/Domesticate Wild Pigs for meat animals. (Achieved?)
-Pig habitat constructed
-Pigs captured
-Pig diet discovered
-Pig taming in progress?
-Pig uses explored?

Subgoal F: Tame/Domesticate Giant Flying Horrors for flying mounts
-Find method of capturing a GFH
-Find method of containing a GFH
-Begin taming process
-Begin domestication breeding

Subgoal G: Full Domestication of Lines.
-Pigs Tamed
-More aggressive Pigs bred into hunter/war breed
-More docile pigs bred into food stock breed
-Tame Flying Horrors
-Breed Docile FH into egg and meat breed

-Tame Trideer
-Breed trideer into beasts of burden/mounts
-Tame Kurr
-Breed kurr into beasts of burden/mounts
-Tame Giant Flying Horror
-Breed GFH for flying mounts

5) Get Exports with Nal's and Dwarves Fully Establish: Organized by Vitus
Project Goal: To have a steady stream of tradable surface goods to go down to the underworld in return for underworld goods to trade with the surface world.
Consequences of Failure: Our trade dries up, we wither and die slowly because we'll probably lose the Nals and Itham Guir as allies, and it'll damage any trade credibility we have and make future trade pacts that much harder to strike.

Subgoal A: Primary Exports need to be establish.
-Wooden Crafts of all sorts. Utensils and dining pieces, tables and furniture, things that are impossible to produce in the underworld. (Achieved by Trey'la?)
-Feathers and surface animal hides. These things, once again, impossible to get in the underworld and thus should be paramount in getting. Painted ones, things fashioned into clothing and knick-knacks and jewelery are also probably a good idea
-For Drow: Surface food, seriously, wheat, fruit, vegetables, nuts, all of these are impossible to get in the underworld and thus are good things to focus on as cash crops.
-For Dvegar: Surface meats and fish and similar.
-For Dvegar: It is possible we can trade INTELLIGENCE on other drow, on trade routes, on underworld maps, on these things, with the Dvegar. By giving them these things, we will gain trust and also, possibly, their alchemical secrets

Subgoal B: Primary Imports Established
-Spider silk, seriously, should be a major import of ours.
-Gems, metals, and others bounties of the earth.
-Knowledge, this is our biggy. Importing teachers, experts, trainers, masters, books, scrolls, libraries.
-From Drow: Magical Items, complex golem parts, foci, these things we can't make ourselves at the moment and will need.
-From Dvegar: Alchemical items, especially their black powder if we can get it. It's utility as a weapon and tool is beyond measure.

6) Relic Study: No Organizer at this point in time
Project Goal: Catalogue, study, and replicate all relics recovered from relic hunts in varied ruins.
Consequences of Failure: We lose our best chance at having bitchin' awesome moons-age tech and magic. One of these has already proven to be a potentially powerful weapon, there's at least one Foci amongst the group.

Subgoal A: Fully Study Relics
-Relics Recovered,
-Preliminary Study of Relics begun, Full study not yet begun.
-Composition/construction of relics not understood.

Subgoal B: Begin replication of relics
-Reverse engineering of relics not begun
-Replication of Relics not begun.

7) Realm Expansions: No Organizer at this Point in Time
Project Goal: Expand our hold and influence over the realm by building roads and outposts.
Consequences of Failure: We lose our best and easiest chance to secure a signifigant chunk of the realm for ourselves, that is to say, everything around the lake we're at.

Subgoal A: Secure Eastern Mines
-Tunnels dug into mountain side to reach Iron
-Iron and Gem Mining begun
-No Outpost constructed to defend and provide base of operations for the region.

Subgoal B: Secure Lake region with docks and outposts
-Road surrounding the lake entirely almost fully constructed
-No Docks built on Eastern Shore to link Mining Outpost by water to the Settlement
-No Docks built on southern coast to decrease travel time from northern shore to southern one.
-No outpost built on southern shore at docks to secure foot hold there.

Subgoal C: Secure northern river by building an outpost on the edge of the Sea of Mist and by linking it by a road.
-Road to the Sea of Mists not constructed

-Have not constructed defensive outpost with beacon/semaphore tower at Nal access point
-Have not onstruct defensive outpost with beacon semaphore tower at dvegar access point (with permission)

Subgoal E: Build Semaphore/Beacon tower network for quick communications between all outposts.
-Semaphore/Beacon Tower Hub not constructed at settlement.
-Semaphore/Beacon Tower not constructed at Eastern Mining Outpost.
-Semaphore/Beacon Tower not constructed at Southern Lake Outpost.
-Semaphore/Beacon Tower not constructed at Sea of Mists Outpost.
-Semaphore/Beacon Tower not constructed at Nal Access Tunnel.
-Semaphore/Beacon Tower not constructed at Dvegar Access Tunnel.

Subgoal F: Fully explore and loot and catalog all relics, ancient knowledge, and similar things from all nearby ruins. Everything of use period.
-Relics Recovered from Some nearby ruins.
-Need to explore and catalog all nearby ruins.

Subgoal G: Expand city itself.
-Temple/Area of Worship
Image
Image
-Arena
-Prison
-Government Offices
-Marketplace

(Listed last not due to importance, but due to extreme limits in feasibility at this time)
8) Unite Races of Amvarade: No Organizer at this Point in Time
Project Goal: Unite all friendly races in the region into a coaltion to defend the region from outside influences.
Consequences of Failure: War most likely, we might have to fight a war anyway, but this way we have the best chance of survival with many allies on our side.

Subgoal A: Gain Permanent Alliance with Cat Ferals. (Achieved?)
-Nal Provided us with this.
-Possibly expand to have them move into our settlement as allies?

Subgoal B: Gain Permanent Alliance with the Itham Guir.
-Reparations made for causing damage to their settlement
-Military Alliance for retaking their homeland struck
-Trade opened for mutual benefit
-Itham Guir counter-attack not launched yet
-Itham Guir homeland not retaken
-Permanent alliance not struck

Subgoal C: Gain Permanent Alliance with Local Halme Population
-Halme Motivate discovered: Money.
-Halmes not yet contacted.
-Halme language not yet explored or learned. Cat-Feral Allies Acting as Translators.
-Further information required before goals can be expanded.

Subgoal D: Gain Permanent Alliance with Local Kotorc Population
-Possible Location for Kotorc Village Discovered
-Language Not Known
-Motivations Not Known
-Further information required before goals can be expanded.

======================================================
Issues that we need to explore Asap:
--->Dangerous thing scaring animals to the north-east of the settlement
--->Mana flare launched to the south.

Just take this one for hunters and let the crafter add a camounflage cape (one side forest colored/one earth+stone colored) and we got our archers and scout armor. PLus it looks good, it makes sense, is possible to make due having leather, etc. and it protects those jobs good enough.

Edit:

We shouldn´t forget about the pigs. How many do we have after so many years? They´re a ressource for meat and leather and bones and glue and such stuff as well.

Edit2:

Instead of those beacon towers we should domesticate the birds we took and make them messager birds - they´re fast, hidden cause no one would think in a forest that this bird up high in the sky carries a message and they can be trained easily with fish, we just enver got th 4th vote for that. -_-

Edit3:

Don´t forget about the melee weapons like spears and helberds as well as two-handed weapons to crush heavy armors etc. :)

Also to the mounts we could add another possibility that we can buy horses from the halme town Weistgren.

1)
I'd really prefer to have someone who is still with us design the hunter/explorer armor

2)
Added

3)
That assumes they can be domesticated, if they're birds of prey then it's highly unlikely that they have anywhere near the degree of a homing skill required for that kind of thing.

4)
Already added, those are long and heavy weapons.

Hm, no big goal for Crafters, but as our thread says, we´re the helpers of others ;)

Actual sub-project we are running are the wooden shields.

I suppose future projects for Crafters could be manufacturing tradables and creating building improvements...

I don´t see much of a difference in an armor pic if its from someone who was part of the clan or who is part of it. As long as its good and reasonable plus looking good and easy to draw, it´s a great contribute. So his pic didn´t made it some years ago as light armor, big deal. We just didn´t needed it back then, but now we do. Especially since no one of the hunters/explorers contributes a pic on how they imagine their armor to look like.
And as i said as long as we add a camounflage cape to it, the explorers can do their scout role.^^

Just give it a try when there´s no other contribution. After all the war might begin in a few days already.

Maybe some other stuff we should invest in, are explosvies akamana bombs or trying to buy black powder from the dvergar or their bombs so that our explorer could sabotage enemy lines from behind and cause confusion with them.

While its far from a priority, I noticed that 'place(s) of worship' were a sub-goal of the plan to expand the city... I just happen to have a design I did a while back... It was intended specifically for the "Way of the Elements", but I kept the concept drawings relatively vague on specific details (beyond the 'mosaic' design for the floor - and even THAT could be used for a moons-cult temple) in order to allow the design to function as a 'multi role' shrine (if needed/desired).

Hello. We have found one of our new enemies after the time skip (most likely). These enemies will be landing on our doorstep and will be a lot more than we (as smart as we are) can handle on our own. These are Roman-esque conquering mofos who have been fighting for centuries. We are a small village of drow on the surface.

Here is all we know of the enemies so far:

Image

Image

In addition to this, we have the Black-Sun-supporting Mimians to the east (mana-flare sighted, anyone?), the Black Sun tribes, and new Chel settlements (with hinted corruption and slave-trafficking/kidnapping).

We must take care not to META too much, but we should form alliances with our neighbors. Equal alliances, like the ones we have with the dvergar at the moment. Cultural dominance over an alliance of equals (made up of our neighbors) would make our village a force to be reckoned with.

Here is the most efficient order for making alliances, along with my reasoning for the order:

1. Ferals and Dvergar: We have contacts with them, they are nearby, and we are already friendly.
2. Kotorcs: Peaceful, nearby, and easy to convince.
3. Halmes: Love our gold, have feral translators, but are quite far away (17-20 turns altogether). (Note: 1. The southern city has a dock and will most likely face a hermionne naval attack - being allies with them and strengthening them would help us more in the long run than simply letting them be an ill-protected buffer state. 2. The Hermiones spread their infectious religion to all halme settlements, so not allying with the halmes pre-time skip could make them turn against us once they hear the Hermiones' preaching).

I am in favor of researching a Kotorc-Alliance expedition after the war and after we have recovered from it. We would need to learn their language, but they would be easy to convince via teaching them agricultural methods and showing them our strength. They highly value their families and are easily infuriated by threats (or so has been implied) so a peaceful approach at first would be best.

As many of us have not thought about the Kotorcs in a while, I have compiled screenshots of all their PtP appearances and other information we drows would know.

(Feel free to add more. I thought this would be the best place for it until after the war.)

Those guys are still a timeskip away, Wy.^^

But i do believe we should get ourselves some sort of relationship wth the Kotorcs (in the north), the Halmes (in the town Weistgren) and with the feral tribes in the forest jungle before the timeskips happens. :/

After the stuff with the dvergar is done ofc and they´re our allies which will stabilize our standing as they´ll provide us with stuff which we can pay with stuff we make ourselves. :3

But having halmes, kotorcs and ferals on our sides will be very helpful once the Hermione comes down from north or the Sarg raiders or a Mimaneid expedition comes along.
Also i do believe that there´s some light elves living in this forest. I mean, if they can live in the forest in the far north behind the mountains, why not here in the south too?

Indeed! But I figure we should always plan ahead.

There could always be light elves here. We really don't know much about our dear forest. I don't think we know anything about the blood-sucking insects from before, or the little burrowing animals we saw on an expedition, or... anything, really! More allies could tell us this information. ^^

Especially the feral tribes living in this area.
Maybe we should ask Orru if there are many different tribes living in the forest, as i doubt they know the exact number.
