Trade with the Dwarves

Postby Hetros on Mon Feb 13, 2012 6:33 pm

Here's the thing, we don't have ALOT we can trade with them.

We do have one BIG THING. We have thaumavore rats, mana-eating rats. That can knock out drow who are eaten at by them. This is a serious weapon, and a trade resource.

The Dwarves would not be effected by them. If we could sell them manaplant seeds (if those suckers will grow outside) and the mana-rats, they'd be able to weaponize them, use them against the drow, retake their old homelands. We would earn their alliance PERMANENTLY. We might even be able to trade it for their blackpowder. "Hey guys. Look, we are giving you the thing that could turn the tide of the war. In return, we want the blackpowder recipe."

Aaand they could use it against us or drow allies of us too.

I say we wait with that till we´re able to actually catch em and tame them to make use of them. After all a big fire thrown at them or an arrow would be enough to let them run away like mices and be useless in battle.

I´m more interested in their armor for Anji. If its better than what we can produce at the current time than it will be highly interesting to invest some ada/trade goods to get more of those for the warriors we have to increase their worth in battle.

You misunderstand Rye. Yes, it could be used against us, and against the Nals, which is why we're keeping this little deal from the Nals.

But it would be a massive step forward. We are showing we are willing to trust them wish something THIS important. In return we ask they trust us the same. Part of alliances means everyone is fairly equal, and by giving them this, we're no longer able to hold the axe of "MAGIC! BITCHES" over their head >_>

Except that if they're mana rats, they can be tainted, just like everything else with auras...

Guys, they are rats sure they are annoying to us but they are not some kind of super weapon. Trade fish for coal instead.

Ehm, I think the first drows they would test their weapon onto, would be us :P

EDIT: I agree to start the trade on something more harmless, like fish, then a potential H-bomb...

Maybe we could turn them into some sort of delicacy?

....What?

Hey, sounds good to me. Rat's good eating from what I've heard.

Ahem. But it is true that we actually do have a lot we can trade with in form of various food items. If we're willing to spare some, there's also the possibility of shipping lumber.

Well, yes - if speaking seriously the food might be in the future our strenght (despite the problems with the PtP 2.0 management system) - if we would be able to get enough phish, er, fish (and we are equipped to it and skilled too) it could be a good starter comodity.

Lumber is also an option, but I am afraid with their technology knowledge they simply will override us in this field.

However if we would strenghten the hunting we might be better hunters in the future...

Eh. I'll believe their technology overrides us in this field when I actually see a dwarvern chainsaw.

I´m pretty sure we´ve seen something like that in DT. On a golem that is.

We already made those 'Golem Drills' for mining back in the day... I see no reason why a 'chainsaw' couldn't be constructed in a similar fashion...
