Re: Dwarves in E18 and what to do about them

Hrm. So far, we do not know their intentions more than veiled grumpy exchanges of being left alone. This is a point we cannot ignore.

They have to UNDERSTAND that leaving them ALONE is the one thing we will not do. A wildcard is potentially more dangerous than a declared foe within our territory.

They also have to UNDERSTAND that we're not going to be pushed easily. That is the task of those warriors backing us up, to think up an strategy to fuck em over swift and expeditively should we fail. A couple of hints are to spread the lines far and wide on the canyon tops to minimize canon damage and maximize ours, and use the forests as natural dampeners for those weapons while we use our own ranged ones. (In fact I'd suggest the forest as meeting ground).

We have to UNDERSTAND that the runner we send should also show no fear of becoming a sacrificial lamb (Sen, your idea might be good, but I do not want to send someone unless said person is ready to die for the clan on a failed negotiation. )

For all of this, we will require at least two advices. A "carrot" and a "stick/hammer". I suggest Dycle (even if he's a nal) to take care of the hammer should the carrot fails. (Unlike the posted advice, I see more value in him as disuasory element and warrior than negotiator).

The stick advice is to group and guard the neutral meeting ground, and to assume it's war should the courier not return. Use the canyon top as leverage, the miners as sappers, and the forest as naturally hampering element if need be.

The carrot one is basically one of us going ALONE and UNARMED with the message, as it gives away our attitude of "we don't really fear you" and "good will gesture" at the same time. If he's captured /dead, then you all know what to do. I'll volunteer to be said lamb if need be for the sake of cleaning this mess up or forcing the outcome.

The message should be along the lines of "You're within our territory and thus you cannot be ignored. Our leader will meet with your representative at a designated ground to evaluate said claim. Failure to comply will be taken as hostility."

That an advise leader vote for the Illharis to work with Dycle. This will be PMed to Thalar in the next few days because I have been volunteered to work with the illharis.

"It seems I have been elected your adviser in this matter. The Dvuagar must be dealt with as slaves or Allies. The decision in theirs Ill'haris. We should send a unarmed courier first to judge their intent and openness to negotiation and not risk your person with their long ranged weapons. Brorn should be the courier. If he do not return by the marrow, we know they have captured or killed and should return with warriors ready for battle."

Hold on your horses.

The choice of words of that option is so vague it allows enough leeway. We can work with that. All you've got to do is to say you're sending an unarmed courier while you entrench yourself in neutral ground or topside.

If you need an unarmed envoy to bring that message to the dvergars to meet our Illhar at some neutral ground to do some talk then i´m your man, Brorn. I mean, i had the idea so i better stand up for it instead of letting others risk their lives for what i thought up.^^

Besides i´m hoping that those dvergars do know the Nal (and are friendly with them) so that our negotiation will become a success once we know what they want and what we can get outta a possible partnership.
And in case it goes wrong, hey. Just one guy died and we know where we are without risking our Illhar. She´ll be safe with Badai and guards after all. :3

So when do you two bring up what advise? After all we got sunday already and 3 dvergar advises which are stealing votes, and the one which had the least to say got the most, funny. <.<

Eeeyup~ :D

So what´s the plan exactly?
Do we do one advise like this:

Send envoy to invite dvergar to meet Illhar. She´ll be protected by guards.

Or do we split it up in two advises for more letters in each task?

I personally suggest using two,

One 'volunteer' advice by the envoy: "Envoy will invite Dvergar to meet Ill'har at specific location" (we could add location detail here, but it shouldn't be necessary).
One 'advice' by the guard group: "Prepare defensible meeting location at treeline (*), Guard the Ill'har during talks" (* A set of sector co-ordinates could be included for clarity)

I wish i was able to vote here myself, but the simple fact is, that the LA is going to have to deal with a shortage of voters for ALL things for a while...
