Official Clan colors discussion - New plan!

Postby James Rye on Fri Apr 30, 2010 9:57 pm

Hello everybody. *smallsmile*

Before i speak my part here´s a link from a thread in the community centre about clan colors/clan style: http://forums.drowtales.com/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=12378

Please look it up if you´re interested in the already discussed possible colors for our official clan colors. ^^
Okay here comes my part. *takes a deep breath*

I made an advise for Kern to say his matter of mind about which colors do/should represent our clan the best. I believe if it gets enough votes, he will declares that the clan has to decide about it since it´s a really important question regarding the clans very soul.

So it´s up to you which colors will finally represent us in times of war and peace, in battle and festival, at home or in the outland.

To avoid endless and fruitless discusion about what color are even available to begin with, i asked Ka´hab for a list of which colors we already have/can make ourself/can possible buy in Chel. When i get it, i will edit it in my first post.
Thanks at Frost/Ka´hab for answering me so fast:
We have/can make ourself azure blue, gray and red! We can buy every color EXPECT green in Chel!

To make it more visual, i asked in the artist thread for an image of our flag - our symbol on white background. Each of you can paint it with your favorit colors you believe they represent our spirit, our clan the most and then post it on here. When i get my hands on it i will edit it in my first post; i will also edit every colored image of you in my first post too.
MANY THANK AT KITAB AND PICANET FOR THE GREAT PICS OF OUR SYMBOL!

but please use Ay'elle´s image cause it´s easier to color, you will save alot of time with it:

Picanet colored it too:

We have to wait up Kern´s decison next week anyway or that it even makes it through him in the first place.
If it actually happens then i´m still undecided if only a limited amout of such colored flags should be voted in another poll or if we wait for another week and everyone post their favorite scheme in the Leader advise.

It´s clear that the clan members/An´Jhali have/has the last vote/word in this kind of matter and i want that as many Tei´kaliaths as possible participate in this discussion. Remember those colors will represent all and each of us for the rest of the game.

To avoid misunderstandings, the colors will not be our style colors, that´s up for everyone else how he/she dress up. You CAN change your clothes to something more clan color looking like or add something that looks like our clan colors, but it´s not a MUST. It will also not change the colors of the uniforms we have so far, that´s up to the ranked members if they want to change their uniform colors or not.

This discussion is only about our official clan colors, they will be shown on our flag (who was white long enough), will represent our clan in clan meetings and maybe Lady An´Jhali will also be a part of the clan colors, either dye her hair, dye a part of it or change into clothes which has the clan colors on.

My own thoughts regarding our official clan colors are:
- Background should be in a bit darkish purple
- Circle around the mana symbols should be grey
- Mana symbols in the middle should be in the color silver

My reasoning for it:
- Purple cause it´s the color for power, royality, mysterious, creativity, sensibility, singularity. It stands for self-confidence and individuality. It appeals as charming and tempting. It´s also the color of austerity, of the balance between mind and feeling, of clarity and of the reflective reactions plus of obedience. Finally, it´s the color of spirituality. Due i believe this color describes us the best, cause of our mystery past, our empathy, our indiviualiy and our confidence in an harsh world.
http://www.sensationalcolor.com/color-messages-meanings/color-meaning-symbolism-psychology/all-about-the-color-purple.html
- Grey cause it´s boring yet elegant, serious and respectful, dignity and wisdom, it´s also the color of inconspicuousness and it´s an unique color cause it´s a colorless one. I want it as circle color cause it shows with how little we began and yet we went our path to power despite any struggle and obstacle standing in our way, also cause the color means invincibility and renewal, things we have always shown as clan on our path.
- Silver for the mana symbols cause it´s the color of transcendental abilities. It´s also the color of the always changing moon. It stands for the female principle and the intuitive side of our mind. It harmonizes and purifies. It symbols flowing emotions, solidity and prosperity. It´s the color which protects someone before negative energies. For me it shows our noble side yet also our militant one, we won´t bow to anyone and stand firmly to our believes.

Last but not least, i hope that some of you may consider their votes and vote for my advise, to make sure that it reach Kern/Lady An´Jhali.

I wish for an open and friendly discussion about this important topic for our clan as a whole. Thanks at everybody who helped me so far. *bows* *bigsmile*

The action will be secondary:

Secondary action: Ka'hab lends a couple of hands and any spare time to Jame's* effort with clan colors to make small hand sized samples (see image). Use: cloth

EVERYONE! The clan color discussion comes to an end! Next turn i´ll advise An'Jhali to look after the samples Frost made of our ideas! Please support this project!
FOR GLORY! FOR TEI´KALIATH! FOR COLORS!!!!

Result:
Okay, the Illhar chosed the second one with the grey symbols, so all that´s left is to make the flag into it.

You mean the *Tei'Kaliath traditions & culture* thread? http://forums.drowtales.com/viewtopic.php?f=75&t=13362

Yes, it had been already discussed, but there it mostly was about uniforms and clothes and what was avaiable. Nothing the illhar/Kern said, *those and only those are the colors of our clan!* ;)
So my thread is new for that kind of topic. It will either shout down next week (when An´jhali says, we do not need them) or gets really really busy (when she said yes, nice idea, give me next week some colorschemes) cause then a few dozen will try to show their favorite color scheme. I can already see Xenon trying to get supporters for her rainbow scheme. :D

What are your preference in colors, Biel? }:3

Edit:
Also the other occasions had all bad timing cause there was also something else more urgent on the schedule which needed to be done first and then the clan colors were fast forgotten. This time it´s almost perfect, there´s no current urgent demand from the Sharen, no enemys in sight, our lives conditions are good, the walls are already ready, the bathhouse is in making, no one of us is sick, the wounded ones will get rehab next turn and so on. :]
Some are already saying it gets boring. :D
Isn´t this the best time to decide on our clan colors? ^^

*shrugs* I guess if you want to try you're entitled to. I just see it being completely ignore ore shut down for fear that everyone must wear the clan colours (which I still think is the reason there are clan colours, so that the clan is easily identified by them).

As to a preference of colours, I have none.

Might want to consider a minor adjustment, because light gray and silver (or dark gray and purple) may not contrast enough to give us a clearly 3-color symbol when drawn small / seen at a distance. Replacing the gray with a medium, earthy tan/brown could work.

The proof will be in the viewing...I'm new and therefore clueless on any past controversies regarding this, but it sounds like a fine idea to me.

Discussed, done nothing, that's how most of things in this clan go. I'm sick of doing nothing!

I suggest white, black and yellow since our saucerors already wear em and they look pretty in such combination. maybe even add the 4th purple colour that Lua'nar has on her robe. ^^

And we can't go wrong with clan colors, it's not what everyone have to wear but is what defines us as a clan. Right now we are diffent shades of black, blue and brown. Ugh, ugly! Must go and watch Xenon to keep my emotions from dieing.

Even ninjas have more colors than we do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1D7gPF6 ... re=related XD

Thanks for worrying Benu, but i got that covered. ;)

That´s what i wrote, also An´Jhali doesn´t want to be a dictator so she will not demand that everyone of us has to wear clothes in the clan colors every day. When she´s the type to say "I don´t want to force the faceless to do something, they should act on their own."; she will say the same about the clan colors to us. ^^

Thanks Ay'elle. I didn´t really thought about the view more about the meaning of the colors, but aren´t silver and gray contrast enough for a bit darkish purple? Also our circle and the symbols are quite small, it´s always hard to tell heir colors from far, so the background color is even more important for being noticed.

Maybe we should also get to know which color schemes are already used, only Blue and white is for the Val´ogglier for example, to avoid a fight over who has the right to use which color scheme. ^^;

@Whizzard

Exactly my reasoning. Thanks for saying. }:3

I would more prefer a "Black" main color, accentuated by a "Anthracite Grey" and maybe a "Dark Red" for details.

Too dark, can barely even see red on it. *hmmm*

I’ve compiled from the wiki all information on Val clan colours and listed the minor clan colours myself for easy reference for those wishing to educate themselves on the precedent as regards clan colours. You can see there is overlap sometimes and in some clans colour schemes are more universally adhered to then in others.

SARGHRESS
The Sarghress use several colors, although red seems to be predominant, in particular red is used as hair dye, most Sarghress seem to dye parts of their hair red. Other colors in use by the clan are purple, gold and blue. Armor may be dyed to indicate what battalion a person is in.

SHAREN
A few colors are common among the Sharen. Teal and black are the most common, although grey and blue are sometimes used. Most seem to have a broad belt in a dark teal color where the Sharen clan symbol - the nine moons - are set in red gemstones. The Royal bloodlines have certain colors which seem to figure in most of the bloodline's clothing. Snadhya'runes' color is purple, Sarv'swati's colors are dark blue and black, Sillice's color is ice blue, Nishi'kanta's colors are red and yellow, and Zala'ess' colors are black and dark teal

SULLISIN’RUNE
The Sullisin'rune clan colors are Blue and Gold

VLOZ’RESS
Red facial tattoos, reddish armor, and black robes are often sported by clan members, and orange hair-dye is very common.

BELDROBBAEN
The Beldrobbaen Clan colors are Black and White.

NAL’SARKOTH
Green is the Nal'Sarkoth color of choice. It is expensive, manufactured from an ingredient found only on the surface, and serves as a way to flaunt their riches. Other colors include blue, gold and red.

KYORL’SOLENURN
Drowussu see the world in black and white- and those are their general clan colours.

ILL’HARDRO
The Illhar'dro Clan color scheme is blue, white, and silver.

JAAL’DARYA
The Jaal'darya favor bronze and copper colors.

DUTAN’VIR
Rust-red browns, golden yellows, and a hint of green dominate the Dutan'vir outfits

KAL’YANTRA
Brown (my own observation)

SVARTELOS
Clear clan style but no obvious clan colour scheme

SIKSA’SANTI
Purple, white, brown and silver all prominent clan colours.

DVARA’KA
Off-green, brown, grey and black accents.

In conclusion, I’d say it’s okay to have several general clan colours as many have this, and that some overlap in colour as the Beldrobbaen and Kyorls’solenurn have is okay as long as the styles differ considerably or the emphasis is put on one colour over another, as the Kyorl emphasize the white and the Bels the black. It’s also okay not to have a colour scheme like the Svartelos. If I had to describe our clan right now I’d say:

TEI’KALIATH
Tei’kaliath favour black, purple, blues and yellows in their dress and art. Brown is also a common colour.

I’d make black, purple, blue and yellow the official clan colours and I might put that in as an LA.

*nods* It will probably end in a official vote of the clan colors. At this point, there might be a few different color shemes to vote on. *I am calling dibs on my Black/Grey/Red!*

I'm not entirely sure we need an official clan color. Obviously, we won't all be forced to wear it, but An'jhali would be. In fact that's all it would really accomplish - make our Illharess wear a different color, and give us an idea of what color tiles to decorate buildings with. I actually kind of like the classic-looking gray outfits An'jhali wears, so if one is officially adopted, maybe just leave it gray? I'm not sure how easy it would be to get used to seeing her in another color.

If you guys are determined to have more colors, though, I'm a big fan of maroon.

@Ein'keos

Thank you very much for your work on the colors of other clans. Totally forgot about that myself.^^

@Everyone

We´ve got some image of our symbol, it´s on black background, but i think it should be able to be paint over. So everyone who has an idea which color-scheme would be the best to represent us as a clan can use it as visual help to ge the support of others. :D

Let's wait till next week and Anji's response before we post the color options to Anj'hali or the LA panel gets too crowded. Someone already has, though. :/
ignore it, we can overrule it, heh. A week for various color combinations and then I think we should decide which ones would go for voting, 'kay?

Maroon is dark red-ish.

PS:
Dominant black, secondary white, details gold/golden yellow.
