The bottom line is that the underground can suck and it's not ever going to be 100% favorable towards us. We can't stop anyone who has power from taking that land, we need to just forget about it. We conquered that clan, we're done. Let's take our lewts and go home.

Another good reason to destroy the place. What do we gain if we keep it intact? Nothing! So let's take some time and destroy that place before some else took it who isn't favourable toward us or
could become a further threath. I don't want to besiege the same fortress, twice. ;)

@Bamawing
Actually the Nal just acknowledged our ownership over Ther - nothing else. :) We assumed we own the cavern until the Sharen told us otherwise. ;)

I guess the correct term would be they acknowledged our occupancy of Ther'avare and environes.
If I knew what I was doing I'd be dangerous.

I'm seriously wondering if its worth doing any thing to the old fort..

Its wasted time / resources to destroy or fix it.. Why not just loot it and move on..

We don't own it. "if" we had the ability to fortify it and hold it we could do that but we do not.

As to people moving in.. "someone" will move in one way or another.. If we flatten it or not.
If we cant force such a simple thing as stone to submit to us how can we ever hope to stem the unending flow of time set against us.

I say we loot it, mark it with the TK symbol, and leave.

Make sure people know "we were here". :3

I think we should pull what Rome did to Carthage and take what we can and leave so unusable that no one else would ever want to take up residence again. This eliminates the thought that some other clan could come waltzing along and take the place for themselves, it also gives us a route to the surface that we know will not be patrolled. We can still use it as an example to deter attacks on our own soil as well.

I suggest we also take something back as a symbol of our victory over the Dvar; perhaps a suit of Dvar armor we didn't smash to pieces.

Alternatively, what we could do is organize that it be taken over by a merchant clan that does surface trading for use as an outpost. That way the caravans will have vested interest in using our exit and trading with us. That way it's not a sale, it's just insuring the new owners are people we'd like to have controlling the place and who's owning it will provide us with a benefit.

Not sure about complete unusability. Someday we MIGHT expand into it, just not anytime soon.

And the trophy idea IS a good one.

I could see growing that far but, it might be beyond the time scope at the moment. Plus if we do that we will be constantly worried about some squatters taking it for themselves. If we take all that we can we can always rebuild it later if it come to it.

I agree with Ein'keos and benuminister.
Either we sell it to somebody thrustworthy or we destroy the whole place. :)

another problem is that we have grand total: 2 mana specialists, 0 siege weapons

making the place unusable is well beyond the scope of our abilities within a reasonable time frame as well. (We're talking "How the French demolished the Bastille" level of demolition here. Where you literally chisel the buildings apart) Maybe we can do it in a shorter amount of time, but if we're able to do that then we should be able to collapse that entire building on the Il'har and have done with it :P Forget it. There's nothing to do with the land beyond loot and pillage and have the freak done with it until we have the resources to expand, and then we'll see what the deal is then.

Then we take a break and come back later. :) Or we ask the Svart mana specialists. I would perfer it if we don't leave the place like it is.
Remember that we way found our home and I don't want to leave a shelter for somebody who could become hostile to us. ;)

Yes using the Svats seems alright but we have to be sure to salvage those mana lights. Who knows if we can figure out how to make them ourselves then we'll be golden.

I think we should just leave it alone for now so that we builders can maybe come back later to loot the mana light or some frescoes or something. We can demolish it later if we have the time.
