STGOD (Structured The Good Old Days)

STGOD (Structured The Good Old Days)

A rather unique form of Roleplay native to ASVS. TGOD (The Good Old Days) and STGOD (Structured The Good Old Days) were RPs where we play as ourselves in a bizarre version of the real world that (somehow) includes fictional races, characters, technologies, factions, etc (On ASVS, the added fictional elements came mostly from Star Trek and Star Wars, so here, they'd probably come mostly from Drowtales, although elements from other franchises are allowed). In a TGOD, the purpose was just to let the forum members find creative ways to kill each other. In an STGOD, there's an actual story involved, as some threat arrives, leaving the forum members and whatever allies they find as the world's last hope. Of course, they can still find ways to backstab each other.

Now, what say you to one of these?

I think it would be an interesting change from the usual format of endless banning that is usually done here that the game tavern has fallen in to.

What can we say, lot of old games like Tower of Druaga and Halo as well as Infinite wars kinda died out as "old" players left the forum, or began lurking.
It is possible, yes. I would welcome it. But I'd say we need at least 4 people or it's just going to die out like everything else.

You don't have to have too much knowledge of ASVS, as STGOD is simply a type of Roleplay. We play ourselves, in a wacky version of the real world, and try to deal with the various chaos that appears as other forumites threaten to take over the world or something. Since ASVS is a sci-fi forum (actually, it started as a USENET group back in 1997 - alt.startrek.vs.starwars, to be precise), this usually means various people end up with technologies from Star Trek and Star Wars - although certain characters or races from those franchises would often show up as well. Since this is the Drowtales forum, this will most likely involve various DT characters showing up, although nothing prevents stuff from other franchises showing up as well. Basically, the situations blend the serious and the comical. A good way to let things get serious FAST, would be to, say, have Snadhya'rune introduce herself to the U.N. An STGOD is controlled chaos with a story line. The situations may be serious, but that doesn't mean we have to be serious in the way we deal with them.
