LUX - an immigration ship into unknown

LUX - an immigration ship into unknown

Postby Eltharrion » Mon Sep 23, 2013 2:13 am

Lux is a massive space-faring colony, traveling throughout the galaxy on a peaceful mission to discover and populate uncharted planets. Our vessel was built to study and sustain many types of lifeforms, and we need crew members to operate it as well as passengers willing to colonize new worlds.

The colonization ship originates from galaxy of Indux, a galaxy system with dozens of civilized planets, nations and empires. The galaxy is populated by anthropomorphic creatures, colloquially known as "anthros" or "furries", that resemble Earth animals with human physiologies. These beings behave much like humans, socially and in private, save for biological differences such as the water people' need for air-breathing devices.

Technology of Indux is highly advanced, as for example people have attained Faster Than Light travel (FTL), mass-produced high-density building materials, simple energy weapons, Augmented Reality system (AR) and multiple other similar systems.
In this sense, Lux is like a moving city in its own right. The ship has shopping areas, parks, work stations, restaurants, bars, just about anything you'd expect to see in a small city. Living is done in cabinets of four or five people, and are mixed genders.

----

This game will be meant mostly for social interaction, living and existing in sci-fi world inside a giant spaceship with anthro characters. If you wish to join the game, feel free to do so, but remember that you MUST write a short description of your character at the beginning of your first post. And not just what (s)he looks like, but also a hint of what (s)he does for job and/or what kind of personality (s)he has. Also, be realistic about your characters, no "I can do anything" super people or similar things. (as GM, I take my priviledge of "teleporting". This kind of equipment is prohibited without a good PM written to me why your character would have something like it.)

Also please note that if there are 4 or more players already, we'd appreciate if you'd first contact me via PM about things before joining the game. Getting too many people around at the same time can make the game very, VERY confusing.

Here will be listed all the players and their characters, with one or two lines long "reminder" what they are.

----

Eltharrion
Zalakar Torranei: A silver fox sociologist. Has his right side of face made of metal implant and right arm replaced with giant wolfpaw-like arm. Was in an accident with unstable teleportation system still under testing, body turned unstable on atomic level. Can "phase" from place to place. Personalities alter greatly after each phasing.

django
Rejan Gordinier: Grey-haired young fox who works as both navigator and part-time Zala's helper. Fancies himself with very clean outlook, ironed shirt and straight pants. Has some bad past issues about warzones.

IkaikaKekai
Miric Remus aka Miric Romulus: Former heavy warmech pilot and currently unemployed pitbull with quite muscular and large build. Straightforward person with bad history with war council and framed wrongdoings. Alcoholic.

Zalakar Torranei. A genius of psychology and sociology who has almost obsessive interest in unnatural social reactions. He enjoys reading other people through their body language and voice tone, hot chocolate and reading mystery novels.
Was part of a team designing and testing a ground-breaking technology of teleportation. Got stuck into accident where unstable teleportation device destroyed parts of his body and left him into physically unstable condition, basically allowing him to "teleport" within controlled range, but altering his psyche and personality quite drastically each time he teleports.

He is a silver fox, slim but quite tall build and has very, VERY fluffy tail and ears. Right cheek and jaw side of his face are replaced with blackish metal implant and his right eye is a black-red machine eye. Most notably, his right arm is an implant and reminds one more of a paw than a hand, is covered completely in snow-white slender fur and has quite long claws. The implant starts from the elbow, and the arm itself reaches to middle-shin. The palm is bigger than a person's head, and Zala could grab a person from waist easily with this arm. In general, it looks like three or four sizes too big compared to rest of his body.

----

Zala was simply sitting on a little bench on one of the larger hallways of the ship Lux, enjoying a nice cup of fresh hot chocolate and watching people walk past him. He knew his outlook was collecting gazes, and most of them were bit afraid of him still. No matter. He'd met already hundreds of people due to his job as a councelor and interviewer alongside his teleportation studies, and even if the ship had been on voyage just few weeks, the sheer amount of vary people around him had reduced quite a lot.

Honestly, life is starting to smile on me again here. Haah, I'd hope it would last like this forever...

First Lieutenant Rejan Gordinier. Trained marksmen and navigation expert in both land and space. The grey and white colored fox keeps his hair neat, trim and most importantly clean. This is not usually the case when he was out in the field, especially during his days serving in the jungles of planet Panama fighting the Pam Am Wars.

Standing around 5 foot 10, Rejan keeps a lean build while serving on the Lux as one of its Navigation's officers. When off duty His usual in a ironed out over suit and buttoned shirt. Not usually armed, but the need calls for it he carries his Cobra 98 revolver behind on his belt or his issued KAN P230 automatic pistol.

Also fancies himself some snuff. Perfering it over smokes as its easier for space travel.

* * *

The grey fox walked quietly down the hall way. With one hand in his pocket and the other by his nose, as he sniffed some of the artificial tobacco. "Zala's" Rejan nodded as he sat down beside the odd fox. "I had somebody ask me at the office, if you were my brother. I told them only if he came from another mother and father. But I think he was just trying to fun me. A little bit of a racist comment don't you think."

Zala lifted his head and cleared his thoughts quickly when he heard a familiar voice, and almost hopped on the bench when he saw who sat there.

"Rejan, old buddy! Haven't seen you in ages, my brother! My brother who was born on different planet, shares no blood relation with me and has never met any other of my family members.
Wait, that's a description to about all males on this ship. Wow, your office pals must think I have a huge family on board. I wonder what my family reunions are in their heads."

There was a clearly amused, sarcastic tone in Zala's voice when he spoke, and his face was turning into a little smile. Well, half of his face was. Metal plating doesn't usually bend according to facial muscle structure.

Miric Remus, alias Miric Romulus. Pitbull Mix Dogmorph, 6'1", thick muscular build, brindle coloring, white chest and belly. Convicted of War crimes during the Pan Am wars, Miric still maintains that he was under direct orders to pilot his heavy Mech to a village confirmed to be a gorilla base, destroy weapons stockpiles, the tunnel network, and all armed hostiles. No official records were found of his 'mission', and no evidence was found of the village's ties to the gorillas. The footage from the Mech's gun cams were never recovered as well.
Miric registered as a general laborer aboard the Lux Colony ship under the last name Romulus. He managed to smuggle aboard a Taurus Judge Revolver, capable of chambering both .410 shotgun shells or .45 Caliber (Long) Kinetic or Energy Rounds. An honest and brunt person, Miric made a daring and violent escape from the Military Court after he was judged as guilty and screamed that his commander was lying to save his own skin. As violent and bloody as he escape was, no one was killed in his escape, with the exception of 3 incidents of friendly fire among the guards. Miric had been working as a petty thug and stevedore prior to boarding the Lux. He is currently seeking steady (and legal) employment. His years on the run and being a criminal have taken a toll on his psyche and he's taken to drinking heavily.
***
Miric was being escorted out of a bar and into the hallway, more than a little drunk "Is paid whas fair damnit, sno way shat shwill wos Black Label Mead." "Be quite ya drunk." "Ohhh shoory if'n a guy thinksh it'd be a good ideah to getta drink in a bar." being shoved further away from the door. One of the Bouncers tossed his padded jacket at him, which he struggled to put on over his muscle shirt and olive drab cargo pants. He stumbled and regained his footing, "Get watcha pay fer. Well I PAID FER WHAD I GOT, so fuck all of ya, udder barsh on thish ship." He stumbled along again past two Foxes before grabbing a bench near them under one of the decorative trees. "Justa buncha asholesh sh'all...whay offar tha gud shtuff if'n ya don't got it, mush lesh charge fer it." he passed out on the bench.

(Welcome Iki!)

Rejan couldn't help the smile crawl on his face. "Things have been keeping me busy on the bridge. Flue season in all, I've had less time to myself then I care to count. And I've doing about one and a half jobs." Looking at Zala's defiantly made Rejan think he was the other side of any coin. If he had a choice he would have chosen the tail end, Rejan never liked politics.

"You still on the teleporting project. I have more time now, if there's still an opening." The fox stopped only to look at the man across from them. Who promptly passed out and probably in the process of pissing himself. "Oh shit." He groaned.

"Why yes, I still have some room for-"
Zala's speaking was cut short with the sound of falling muscle. He turned out to look at Miric and sighted weakly.
"...Yet another one who has fallen to the lures of alcohol, it seems... Well, at least this way I can try to give him directions to the med bay to come talk about it. Come on Rejan, you take the left side."

While speaking, Zala was already walking and kneeling next to the semi-passed out Miric. Few little taps to face with fingers, and Zala started speaking in slow, soft but clear voice.

"Sir, you're going to get into problems sleeping there. Mind if we carry you to somewhere else?
What was that? You're okay with the idea? Perfect. Can you tell us your cabin number?
Hmm, can't make that out dear sir. Oh well, seems we have no other option to take you to the med bay to clear your head. Come on Rejan."

Zala took up Miric's hand over his shoulder and started to lift him up. Thankfully he had done some physical training to get used to his arm, otherwise he'd never be able to lift this buddy up on himself.

Miric mumbled as his face was tapped, "f-fi-I'm fine Doc, geth Jenkinsh firsht." He gave almost no struggle as he was picked up but at the moment he was pretty much dead weight. "Thelling yah tah get Jenkinsh first Doc, bashtardsh landhed a HEAM in hish cockpit." He started to regain the use of his legs, while not exactly making it easier to carry him, he got a little less heavy, "Fucking Panniesh knocked owth mah legsh, I'm innah gud firein' position, chan covur everhone till da Carryalls get here for evac." He started to struggle a bit, "Shaid go get Jenkinsh damnit!" he tried to swing the arm Rejan had in a punch towards an invisible target, but failed before passing out again, his legs going limp once more. The struggle would expose the revolver hidden in his jacket if either fox was paying attention.

"Mhm." Rjan nodded as he stood over the drunked lout that laid in front of them. "Come on pal. You cant sleep it off here." The fox bent down to help Zala carry the dog to the med bay.

Then he started to struggle with them. 'Fucking drunks' Rejan cursed under his breath as he tried to take a wide swing at him. Almost causing Rejan to clock the guy in the teeth but he feel limp and out of it. Then something caught his eye, "Whats this?" He reached out and pulled out revolver. "You are packing some serious heat." There was an unnerved edge in his voice as he emptied it and removed the cylender, and pocketed it.

"Well, great. That's one less person to push firearm into my face without any warning. Honestly, I sometimes think that everyone around here is armed and dangerous..."
Zala gave out another sigh as he pushed the button on the med bay's door, this time with bit tired voice. Just about every other security officer had pulled a gun on seeing him up close, and almost a third of his patients had made a hostile act to him. To make things worse, quarter of them had carried some sort of weaponry on them.
The fact that he usually just popped out of thin air behind might have had something to do with the thing, though.

"O-kay, let's put him down here. I'll go check who's on duty here right now, and then we try to get him onto a free bed with data. Look over him for that time, thanks. Ta-ta."

With that said and Miric laid down on the lobby's empty chairs, Zala rushed off through a hallway and toward the sickrooms where most logically doctors would be.

Miric murmured unintelligibly in his sleep as he was put down on the waiting room seats, sitting up a moment, "wrah? fughin ragh..." slumping forward and falling asleep again. A further search of his person would reveal a (fake) passport, a personal datapad and communicator, IDs issued by Lux, and a necklace full of dog tags in his pocket.

Rejan gave Zala a look that said people do that too you? And then he remembered how they first met in the physicist office. Then it kinda made sense. If you fucking pulled guns on anything. Maybe the claustrophobia is kicking in on this ship. Its a little unnerving thinking about it.

Maybe he should make a habit of carrying his gun and enough bullets to make them think twice before pressing him.

"Don't leave me with him..." He groaned as his friend left him along with their booze smelling drunk. Holding his shoulder, Rejan pushed him back into his seat. And the fox noticed Mirics paper work. "Hmm." Rejan mumbled as he too out the id and glanced at who he is. "Might as well get your paper work straightened out."

It was then Rejan noticed something, the dog tags didn't match the paper work... It might be his brothers or friends. He might be over thinking this.

After few moments of talking with his co-workers around, Zala sighted and turned to walk back to where they had left the half-out dog.

"Okay, they're trying to get him some bed around here or something, but since we have so little space they'd need someone to take this guy up to the med bay few levels up where they actually have some room. Don't want him runnin' around the place like this... What's that you got there?"

Getting close, Zala noticed Rejan digging up some more stuff form Miric's pockets. At first he just thought it was few more rounds for the pistol they had found, but it was too... Flat to be ammunition.

Miric snored softly as the two foxes went through what little he had. The necklace contained 7 dogtags. One of the tags were labeled, Jenkins Romulus Cat Morph 0014820693 Type B. Only two others stood out, they were on a smaller, separate chain from the rest. They were a matched pair, aside from one having a locator chip on it that was damaged and removed, the other lacked a chip like the ones on the other chain. Miric Remus Dog Morph 0009679223 Type O. Miric would suddenly sit up, then stood, still more that a little wobbly as he looked around, then at Rejan, his slurring was slightly better now "Heey buddy wheres the head?" He seamed oblivious to the fact that his things had been rifled through, and was still fairly drunk.
