Cal'Coro'Matoak: A Stroke of Fate (RP)

The hunter had been watching them for a while now. Using his aura sight, mostly, to keep actual looking at them to a minimum. Two driders, some Drowlath and...a something. A Val of the clan owning this casino. Fau shuddered in his armor from a couple of floors above the game. Those people were creepy. And their auras were...weird. For some odd reason, he couldn't actually ever remember what he saw when he looked at one, but knew he was disturbed by it.

The armored hunter carted one of his drunken brothers away from a card game where he'd lost pretty much everything he'd made from the latest hunt on a few hunts. While Fau'heol carried the drunkard to his mate to carry him home, the wind sorcerer used a faint wisp of mana to draw scents from the people's area up to him, analyzing the smells to try and pick up on what was causing them to gather like this. Perhaps it was the...horrifying Val drawing a crowd of other freaks. Or maybe the freaks drew the Val.

Passing his idiot brother off onto the next stage of his life, Fau'heol passed by, watching the group through his aura vision as much as possible, and with his eyes when it wasn't. Ooh, at least one of them was armed. Perhaps that one would put up a fight, if her aura was anything to judge by.

"Thank you very much," Na'deeji said with flirtatious smile and twinkle in her eyes as she took the offered drink. Meanwhile her sister was preparing herself for the next round, looking over her small winnings and seeming to calculate the chances. Which was a lie, since Na'deeji knew her sister well enough to know she could calculated risk outside of battle moves. If she could even manage that.

"You know, he might make a fine mate. He certainly seems fit enough and has a pretty good tone," her sister's voice muttered in her ear. Trying to keep from choking, Na'deeji glanced side-ways to see that her sister had gotten up to accept her own drink. As she settled in her seat, she shrugged. "It is time for you to start considering such thing."

Amazing, she barely had a sip of that blasted drink and she is already making a bother of herself, Na'deeji thought as she glanced away from the table. As she scanned the surroundings she noticed some newcomers had wafted over, finally she gave a small sigh and whispered in her sister's ear, "I believe I might consider the option, but first you must win."

Her sister snorted, "Consider it done."

With that her sister turned her attention to her feeble risk calculation. For half a second she frowned down at her sister, then turned to play flirting eyes at the newcomers. She didn't want the fool she stood beside to think she could be serious about any of these guys. Though maybe I should find a new toy.

"Thank you, sir." Vir said with a small nod to his superior as he replaced his empty glass with an offered drink. "Next round? As always willing and ready." He glanced at his cards. Not the best hand there is, but maybe could do. He pondered a little as he passed a glance round the table at the rest of players. It was an interesting sort, and he found it quite worthwhile to just listen to the conversation they had without feeling the need to butt in.

He was sipping at his drink as he noticed another newcomer. His clansman, no less.
"Greetings, brother." he said with a wide grin addressing Schast'e. "I think a room will certainly be found. By the ways, I'm Viru'tamo, don't think I've seen you around."

Ehn'sazi sagged. 'Ignored!!' he wailed internally. 'Oh well. I'll just have to find some other way... to...

'Hm. What was I thinking just now? I suddenly felt very happy and forgot what it was I was mentally discussing.

Oh well.'

"SO, anybody up for doing something other than cards?" asked Ehn'sazi. "It's a fun game, to be sure, but I prefer a little excitement to my gambling. Is it true that this establishment has a gladiator ring?"

((In other words: there MUST be something violent we can do. I must admit that I am finding cards somewhat dull.))

Tian lifted his vision and made a small, sudden glare toward the other Drider.
"You seriously enjoy on betting on feeble things they put on to fight there? Don't know about you, but I get to see too much fighting and brawling when I'm out there in town. Rather enjoy my precious relaxing time with beautiful la- land"
Within his voice, there was no anger, just a simple statement that he was unhappy for even mentioning the gladiator ring, though by the end of it he looked toward Yuyu and clearly got bit more unsecure, clearing his throat with the last words. Even if his saying seemed rather stretched and clearly just trying to hide something rather obvious.

"Feeble? Bah, I don't bet on those. To boring. I only bet on the more violent matches," Ehn'sazi said, grinning. He threw in his chips for the round. "Call."

((sorry this took so long. Hopefully this will move things along and get everyone together even if I had to bully characters just to get us RPing together XD you guys dun make this easy on meh! D8 ))

Diamond gave a laugh at Ehn'sazi's comment. It was a cruel cold sound and the dealer shook his head as if finding something amusing, "Oh yesss there isss a gladitorial ring, Ehz'sssssazi, but you won't be ssseeeing that very ssssoon," he said, not even looking up from dealing the cards.

A murmur was going through the crowd as a lady Val of Esmeralia made her way through, flanked by an entourage of guards, her eyes fixed on there table. The woman was dressed much better than the male, showing a superior rank and authority in the workings of Esemeralia, her guards were all dressed in heavy armor with swooping helms, all of them had the bright golden eyes giving off the unsettling aura as they moved forward. The Lady val glanced to a guard to her left who merely nodded and moved away from the group to the lounging Vel'Rakshasa hunter with a curt nod, "The lady has requested you come. Business to discuss and you have caught her fancy as someone who could get the job done," the guard said politely, but his eyes had a look that stated that this request was more of a demand unless the hunter wanted to make an escape out the window.

Another guard came over, the two flanking the hunter making sure to move him to the card game already being hemmed in by guards as the lady Val moved smoothly in.

After the hunter had been brought in and a seat made for him. The lady Val gave another sharp glance to the guards who obeyed some sort of silent order, turning and raising their hands and soon the card game table was enclosed behind a barrier of rock. Then the lady took a seat, crossing one leg over the other and leaned back with a grin that looked like a cat about to play with dinner.

"I do hope I wasn't interrupting anything, but I have business to talk to you all about. My brother Diamond has amused you until I was ready to come down. I hate coming down looking abysmal. You may call me Jackpot Val'Esmeralia. But first things first...."

She carefully pulled out a dagger playing with it lightly, "A warning. You try anything, you make one errant twitch..." she brought the dagger down hard on the table, neatly cutting the deck, "death will be the least of your worries,"

Jackpot fixed her eyes on Ehn'sazi, "And that goes doubly for you, dear Enh'sazi," she said in a purr, "Yes yes, we know you. We have an invested interest in the black market, we know about the insane hermit....you happened to eat someone sort of important to us. We do not like that. You can considered this business proposal as us overlooking your negligence this one time instead of going ahead with just squashing a pathetic bug like yourself, " she leaned back, still keeping her gaze on him, "and go ahead and blow everyone up. You won't live past the that so if you have any sense in that little microscopic brain of yours, you'll sit quite and contemplate how an idiotic fool like yourself got so lucky to get a free get out of grave card for eating important delegates because you decide to be a glutton and beg for death like a fat bloated spider on the floor of a lady's room. Am I clear?"

Diamond only grinned as he took a seat between the two minor Val'Esmeralia, putting an arm around them. The two would hear a voice in their head now in a careful hissing voice << Now children, keep afraid, look freaked out. Make it look like you are in danger just as much as the others. You are going with them as the boys who will keep invested interest doing what we want. You know what happens to those that displease, yes lovelys? Just tap twice on the table if you got it>>

Jackpot smiled charmingly at the guests despite giving Ehn'sazi a clear death sentence if he tried anything. It was clear the reputation of the Esmeralia clan as the queens of the black market and under the table deals was well stated. She poured herself a bit of drink, the same drink the others had been served earlier, "I hope you are all doing well and find the drink to your liking. It is grave wine. Why? You usually toast it to those about to head to the grave unless they take up a deal," she said with a smile, "I have a task that all of you are to participate in. Why? If you don't, you'll end up like the charming little moth girl there. Dead before you even know what hit you,"

Yuyu'Maa blinked, her eyes wide and she opened her mouth to say something...but everything was hazy like a weight was being applied to her mind, like her brain was in a fist, her vision went white and she managed one wheezing gasp before blood began to leak from her nose and she fell back, her two pets squealing in alarm as their owner died. It was a blatant use of shadow empathy but Jackpot only smiled, "Now, you," she pointed Tian, "You are going to help because if you don't, you'll be found accountable of this poor girls murder. The word of a drider over the world of a Val. It isn't going to end well for you and I doubt you want to lose your comfy spot in society and be downgraded to the near feral sewage slurpers of your kind,"

She turned her attention next to the two Nalorn sisters, "And for you two...I have what you want. Exactly what you want..." she looked more at Na'deeji, "A means to get the power you want and get what you want..." the Val sat back smiling brilliantly, "Only if you cooperate of course will you get the means to an end and fortune beyond measure then simple gambles here and there,"

Then Jackpot turned to the hunter, "and I invited you because I can assure you, this will be a wild hunt you wouldn't want to miss. I'm sure you'll find many a target to take out on this venture I'll be proposing,"

Finally she looked to the two Val'Esmeralia giving a wink and nod to Diamond, "and you two, better behave and do as we say or I'll have your skin used for a throw rug,"

"Now to business!" she said brightly clapping her hands together.

Jackpot sat back and carefully toyed with her knife, smiling pleasantly as if simply having a bit of small talk with everyone at the table, "There is this street gang that has been a bit of a pain you see. Nasty brutes although some morons at this table would get along fine with their lot. They had the able intelligence to attack one of our small time operations. When someone does something like that, there is no second chances. You let them slip, they just go ahead and do more damage just to brag about getting away once,"

She paused to sweep her gaze around, "Do this for me and you will be rewarded handsomely, all of you, some more than others, but still" Jackpot gave a shrug, "you will have your compensation. Yet for the one that finds and returns a large ruby, flawless and completely unmarred, you will never want for any money for a long time," She gave a grin.

"So what do you say? " Although the hooks for many didn't leave any room to simply disagree.

((I'll still be in the RP, but playing the NPCs and setting so will still have me bouncing about. Now we will get moving. Sorry if I godmoded a bit. Wanted to get the group in one place now and in contact ^^; ))

Ehn'sazi laughed.

"My 'apologies', my lady," he cackled. "They were incredibly rude and irritating. If it helps you any, they were exquisitely marinated in fine wine and tasted delightful." He laughed again.

"Of course, as mad as I may be, I am no fool. As long as there is plenty to kill and to eat, I'll happily take you up on your offer. I need only the particulars and a moment to return home and equip myself with my toys, hehehehe...."

Schast'e gave a smile and a nod to Viru'tamo. "And I have not met you before either, clansmate! The name's Schas'te, lucky as any Val'Esmeralia here!" he spoke grandly. "Time to put it to the test with so many fine visitors here," added Schast'e as he motioned to indicate the others currently at the table. Quite a diverse bunch, though all of them happened to be locals.

The card game turned out to be sadly monotonous. Clearly these rubes didn't know how to really play this game. Schast'e was about to consider stepping it up a notch until a female Val walked up to the table, being flanked by several guards and a Vel'Rak'shasa hunter. Apparently these visitors were chosen for some sort of task; the drider seemed to be in special trouble with the clan.

Without warning, Diamond sat next to Schast'e and Viru'tamo, draping his arms about them and sending them a message via empathy. Schast'e did as he was told and acknowledged with two taps of his right pointer finger on the table.

Suddenly, Yuyu'maa gasped and collapsed backwards onto the floor. Schast'e didn't need to feign shock at this sight. "Someone get a healer!" he blurted out, getting up to attend to the fallen drowolath. Having someone pass out or die would upset guests and discourage business! Schast'e moved a shaky hand through his hair to straighten it out as Jackpot explained what they all were to do. How did he get involved in all this? He was no warrior or thief, why would she choose him? "Understood...Lady Jackpot," he said uneasily.

How...fantastic. In his desire to be stealthy, he'd ended up making a spectacular entrance. The hunter complied with the guards wishes, he would be stupid to try running. Running provokes the urge to chase. And besides which, he wanted to hear what was being offered.

Turns out, it wasn't so bad a deal. Kill some people halfway competent, from her words, and get to poll these folks for survivability. Shame about the silk weaver, though. She'd probably be eaten, same fate to her pets. Such was the way of things. The hunter turned in his seat, grinned the grin of insanity, and twinkled his demon eyes with all the glee he could muster.

"I'm getting in on this folks. From the looks of things, you've all got reasons to do so as well. That's fine and dandy. Just don't steal any of my kills, would ya? Would hate for...accidents to happen."

As if the company at the table wasn't driving enough attention, the arrival of a lady Val with her escort proved the day to be getting more and more interesting with every moment. By now even if Sharess herself descended to them on a flaming dragon would not feel as a surprise. The all-business looks of the guards convinced Vir that the lady's presence here was caused by her having some task for someone at the table. And rightly so. It seemed the drider in particular had an unresolved deal with the clan.

Suddenly, Diamond took a seat between him and Schaste, sending them an emphatical message. Viru'tamo acknowledged with two taps that it was clear for him, as Schaste did the same.

However, sudden collapse of Yuyu'maa turned out to be a genuine shock. Without much thought, Vir got up, as if to be ready to help, but further words of Jackpot made him realised that there is nothing to be done here. He slumped back on his chair and listened as Jackpot explained to them their task, his eyes widening slightly in disbelief. She expected him to take part in the hunt for some gangsters? Did he really look like a warrior or something? He doubted their targets will hand themselves over for a 'pretty please'. But he knew that arguing with his superior would not be a good idea, not to mention a safe one. "Of course, Lady Jackpot. You can count on me." he said faintly, wondering why did he got into that mess.
