Cal'Coro'Matoak: A Stroke of Fate (RP)

Ehn'sazi idly picked up his cards, taking care to keep them secret from the others, and remained utterly impassive. He only expressed emotion when his drow en sarcophage finally arrived, filling the air with a delicious scent (to him at least). "Oohoohoohoohoo... this will be good," he practically purred, folding his cards and placing them under his plate. Muttering a quick thanks to the waiter, he dug in with gusto. He felt around in his belt a bit, then pulled out a red vial.

"Needs some spice," he explained, and gently dusted the food with what appeared to be the equivalent of red chili powder. Unnoticed (hopefully) by many, he quickly magicked (as in, sleight of hand) the original vial out with a new vial of the same red powder. Except it wasn't the same red powder. This was red phosphorus, which reacted very very VERY badly with white phosphorus, which he had multiple pouches of. If things went bad, he'd have a suitable distraction in the form of a screaming drow/drider with the flesh quite literally being burnt off their bones. Such a pleasant sound, he'd have to make sure he didn't become enraptured and get himself captured again.

"So, ladies and gentlemen, what brings you to this fine casino?" he asked between bites. "I, for one, am here on business."

Viru'tamo shifted himself a little to make place for the Black Thread girl. The game was about to begin. He picked up his cards nonchalantly, fully hoping that perhaps this day luck will finally smile to him.

He raised the head at the question of the drider sitting beside.
"Same with me, I could say" he answered, going back to looking idly at his cards "but as it is now behind me, I'm currently taking my time to have some fun, since I'm here. Anyways, what kind of business do you have in mind, if it's not a secret?"
He never minded little conversation, besides, that drider seemed of quite an interesting sort. Asylum-kind of interesting, but he held the attention nevertheless.

Oh the goddesses of old must be laughing to see such an absurd set of characters set around this table, Na'deeji thought to herself as she glanced around. The guild members were amusing, if not a bit foolish for showing just how weak their guild bond were. While the drider was making a ridiculous amount of noise over nothing. Meanwhile her sister was so intent on her cards, the world could be falling in on her and Na'deeji was sure her sister would not have noticed.

There was however two people at the table she wasn't so amused with, both from the same clan. One had clearly seen through them and was probably connected in some way to her Val'Esmeralia friend, given the wink and the way he looked at them. She had been assured that no one would notice them and that her plans for the golden girl of her mother's eye would go off without a hitch. Yet, there were two of them.

I shouldn't concern myself with the second...he doesn't appear to have any idea, but the first, she cut a glance at Diamond again. Then gave an internal shrug, if he had any insight into her plans than he would simply be there to force her sister's hand and nothing more. Pride is a monster of a thing, isn't it? I should learn for my own plans how easy it is for this monster to get out of hand.

"Sister dear," came a soft whisper beside her, leaning over Na'deeji put on her best concerned and interested look. "I seek you advice in this matter of the pool, already it appears to be great...Should I...should I put out that now or wait?"

For a moment Na'deeji wanted to laugh, so she pressed her lips together and try to contort her face into deep thought as she fought to keep control of herself. Finally when she was sure she could handle herself, she said just as softly, "Sister dear, do not let the amount upon the table intimidate you. You have many great things under you hood, you know that is not yet time for such things. Wait. For you know there will be a better time for that."

Her sister nodded slowly, and then turned her gaze back to her cards as Na'deeji stood up straight again. There were others around the table acting as advisers and aids. So she wasn't worried about being shooed off just yet, she simply looked on as her sister drank again from her glass.

Diamond only chuckled as he delt out the cards quickly, his hand a blurr showing great skills with the cards, his eyes on a constant look around the table. The sharp yellow eyes focused on Ehn'sazi briefly and the Val of Esmeralia gave a wide grin that nearly seemed inhuman, exposing sharp teeth briefly, "oh yesssss...a little sssspice is nice...just make sssssure it doesssn't have to much kick, yessss? " he said with a wink, "the sssspider can sssset a wide web of connections to feel the vibrationsss of creaturessss,"

He finshed dealing out the cards, allowing the players to see what they had.

Yuyu had frowned, but let the drider pat her off before sitting next between the other drow at the table, taking her cards with a nod and looking them over now. Not a good hand....but she could work with it maybe. She discarded a card, putting more money in, "raise, and deal me a new card..."

She gave a shrug to Viru'tamo's question, "Me? I'm just out for some fun. A little relaxation and possibly look for a mate. It seems though that giant insects are a big put off for most men..."she grumbled, lovingly patting the head of the little larvae now chirping in her lap.

Diamond gave a nod and did as requested, although his eyes drifted back to the two Nalorn, givnig a sweet smile to the gambling sister, "I feel you have a good chance to win...sssshould go all in, pretty one," he said in a charming purr of a voice, the suggestion laced with a good dose of empathy to influence Na'deeji 's sister's game. The Val of Esmeralia knew when it had found a good sucker to drain dry of their resources.

((Coming back here from my exile of internet just for you guys. Feel honored. :P ))

Tian frowned at the conversation first, trying to come up with a plan for his current hand. That, until the drider from nearly other side of the table raised a question.
"We could call this 'socializing' in some manner, though I believe the plan to be more accurately 'getting some drinks to get drunk and losing my money'-"

Let's just say that Tian cut his speech off mid-way when he realized Yuyu's words in his mind, and made a tiny smile on his face. The goddess must have something against me, he though for a moment.
I manage to finally meet a lady who might not actually run away screaming from me, and I already screw up. Way to go, Tian'kiria...

With that, Tian threw his cards on the table and raised his arms slightly up, sighing off and turning his eyes toward Yuyu while he spoke off.
"Not going out at this round, at least. Way too shabby hand for me...
So, I guess you take care of lot more worms and other insects than those two lovely ones at the guild. Haven't really seen you around there while caretaking them myself, miss..?"

((So, if I may, I would highly recommend a quest of some kind. Any thoughts?))

"Incidentally, you wouldn't happen to know any Mendel'saagei Grubs, would you?" Ehn'sazi said, addressing Yuyu. "I'm in need of some Mendel'saagei Ichor for a commission and you know how it is with businessmen. Always so pushy!" He giggled strangely. The last "businessman" who'd tried to push him around had found himself inexplicably paralyzed when he tried some of the wine Ehn'sazi had served him. In fact, him and his body guard had all found themselves paralyzed, a condition that Ehn'sazi utilized to save some money on food for the next month or so.

{Alright I'll post, but I'm not sure about the lossing pool drawn into fight idea. However this can continue in the Registration/OOC thread}

As a glaze look feel over her sister's face, Na'deeji had to hold back her cheer. Plans worked even better when everything went as if it was normally would. She quickly replaced her sister's drink with her half-touched one and called up for another. Meanwhile the fool, reached for the pouch that carried a scroll and the a Nalron crest. An item that could if someone really cared to give them entrance into a vault that no one, not even false Empress herself, knew the whereabouts of. The only reason if was worth anything was because the scroll it was attached held the supposed whereabouts of the vault.

Na'deeji remembered her sister bemoaning the fact that no one could read it. No one, not a single heir of her family to date could read the blasted scroll or understand the markings. None of them, except for the non-heir.

Yet who would give it to her. No, no, best to taunt her with it. Hold it from her. Force her to go through all types of loops to get her hands on it, Nadjeei thought sourly as she watched her sister place the pouch on the table. At least I'd make a smarter heir...but then again, I wouldn't be able to have all this fun if I was heir. So, its better this way.

With that she smiled and perked an ear up as she waited for her drinks and listened to the chatter of the gambling fools.

The dealer only gave chuckles, his eyes slitted and a secretive smile stretching across his face as the he controlled the game. He could tell what prizes were worth the acquisition for his clan, but there was another reason he had come to this table. It was more a little fun and a little business. It was an odd assortment of people at the table and even one of his own clan at the table. A true stroke of luck.

A servant came over delivering drinks to everyone at the table, "Courtessssy of the housssse," Diamond said with a charming smile, "For playersss and friendsss," he said glancing over to Na'deeji, giving her a curt nod, "Who isss in for the next round?"

The Val was giving that small secretive smile as if he was the only person in on a very private joke.

~*~

"Yuyu'Maa " She said holding her cards lightly in one hand, the other one stroking the head of the silkworm in her lap, "I am one of the apprentice and extra hands who work with Cashew down in the hatchery. I don't see much of the guild in general which is very fine by me,"

She took the drink that the servant had offered her, sipping the drink lightly as she turned to look at Viru'tamo frowning a bit, "Grubs? I do not deal with grubs," She said with a slightly offended tone to her voice, "I deal with the special breeds of the home and if you want anything from our guild you will have to pay a handsome sum,"

Yuyu'Maa set her drink down with a frown. Her time out had seemed to attract a nervous drider and one that was clearly insane. That and whatever drink was on the house had an odd taste to it. Probably cheap wine or the like knowing the Val'Esmeralia in regards to free things...

"but nothing was ever free when it came to the Esmeralia..."
she thought, her brow furrowing.

"Well, if you take as good care of them all down there as you take that beauty on your lap, the Guild has no worry for next few generations."
Tian's voice raised up more calmly, all the same when he made a small smile and a honouring nod toward Yuyu.
Keep calm, man, you can still fix things here. Or at least that's what he thought.

When the drinks reached his spot, Tian reached for it and acted as he sipped it. In truth, not a single drop flowed to his mouth. Even here, his experience of Drider-hate couldn't just let go so easily. You never knew what they mixed in these drinks... Better to first see how other react to them, he thought.

With the call, Tian knocked the table slightly with his free hand.
"Well, we are here for the game, at least in some sense. Call me in"
There was clear weight on the word 'game', and Tian made a small laughing grin on his face as to join in with the dealer's inside joke. Then he placed his drink on the table, pulled out few small strings of his own web from side-pouch and started to weave them into pure-white rope with steady, nearly artistic-styled hands, using one of his legs as a connection spot.
At least this time it's more subtitle joke...

Ehn'sazi gave his drink a dubious glance. Damn Vals had tricked him before with poison. Luckily, his tendency to eat the guards allowed him to escape rather quickly. Hm. Wonder how far I could make it if I webbed the dealer...?

"My apologies, miss," Ehn'sazi said, waving a piece of ribcage to... well... for no reason, really. "You understand that I am but an alchemist of little education, I only know what my profession and those around me call your... hm. Would companions be accurate?" He tapped his nose with the rib-fragment before putting it in his mouth to suck on. Bone marrow was so delightfully flavorful....

((Incidentally: If Ehn'sazi's insanity starts to veer into overly squick places, tell me PROMPTLY. I have a very weird imagination, and Ehn'sazi's character lets it... I believe the term is "run wild".))

Schast'e walked through the main hall of the casino, trying to keep thoughts of his most recently accomplished task off his mind. Some people just could never be satisfied, but did she have to be a real bitch about it even when he and the others tried their best? Whatever, a good drink and a good card game always enabled him to relax. Showing a friendly facade to the customers also didn't hurt in convincing them to be more prodigal with their money and to return as often as possible.

The Esmeralia male saw an odd band playing a card game at a nearby table...two driders and three drowolath, it seemed, along with a Val'Esmeralia as a dealer. Maybe his appearance in the game might warm them up more to the clan. He confidently strode over to the table, making sure that his blue and purple clothing looked immaculate to the visitors. First impressions were always important.

"So, how goes your card game? I trust you all are enjoying yourself?" spoke Schast'e as he took a seat and a drink for himself, not forgetting to bow to his clan superior. "Do you have any room in this game for a new player? My name's Schast'e. Feel free to ask me about anything you'd want here," he added with a practiced ease. Unbeknownst to the others at the table, Schast'e subtly utilized his empathy to engender good feelings among them, hoping to encourage them to drink and gamble more, perhaps even utilize the...myriad entertainment abilities of the servants.
