I might join in this time around as a minor faction that is more or less curious to the people of the city...for their own reasons of course > :3

I'm assuming that we are still waiting for more people to decide whether or not to continue with this idea.
If we are moving forward, we should probably provide some way for people to start creating clans and such. I'm assuming that the old profile is the one we will be using this time around. Just so that even if we don't get this rp up and running, we can do a more...internal roleplay within our own clans.

Privately I've always found being a Val'Querces interesting.

Hmm, seem like everybody has been giving... points of interest.

Now, asking should we start to pile up people's ideas of their clans, so that we don't manage to create 5 nearly identical ones with similar philosophies and stuff like that?

Just sayin'..

Oh? If you wish I could send you the many...many...mannny (too many :0 ) documents I have written up on their traditions and background....I even went so far as to write about their cuisine and what sort of dishes are popular with them. Because I enjoy working on small details such as this. *blush*

And, yes, start throwing the ideas out there.

And speaking of clans, please, create something unique. I personally can't stand cookie cutter clans, and we have had those before.

I would love to read them.
I have short stories about my clan too, although I've been thinking that my clan is too cookie cutter. Or maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to change them up.

For reference, here's the brief summary of my clan. I still have some more stuff kicking around on my hard drive...I'll see if I can post it up for reference. :0

Name: Val'Tu'joltrezen

Illhar’ess: Lou'hi Vana'tar Val'Tu'joltrezen: Standing some 7 feet tall, Lou'hi is a skilled practitioner of high arts and of fire sorcery and is one of the oldest members of the Scarlet Hand. She dyes her pale blue hair with streaks of silver, has green eyes, and her skin is covered in ritual body paint designs or tattoos. She wears a usual white ruqun/kimono-style dress embroidered with silver thread, and a fur cloak over her shoulders with a gold clasp, as well as decorative jewelry and various amulets. She is known as a sober and dignified ruler, yet she has a strong desire for power and will stop at nothing to attain it.

Heir: Unapplicable; Illharess is elected by Scarlet Hand

Advisers & family: Aja'tti Val'Tu'joltrezen: Straightforward and leaning towards opportunistic, Aja’tti is an elder member of a lesser noble house. She serves as the adviser to the current head of the Scarlet Hand.
Thur'vaz Val'Tu'joltrezen: A male wizard and Lou’hi’s current mate. He’s generally regarded as the most powerful male casters in the Tu’joltrezen clan.
Ata’li Vana'tar Val’Tu’joltrezen: The eldest daughter of Lou’hi and a powerful warrior in her own regard. She serves as Lou’hi’s right hand regarding military matters.
Il'ga Vana'tar Val’Tu’joltrezen: The younger daughter of Lou’hi, she tends more towards the study of sorcery and traditional summoning.
Leshak Vana'tar Val’Tu’joltrezen: The oldest child of Lou’hi, Leshak is her only son and a specialist in wood sorcery.
Ill'ja Val'Tu'joltrezen: The captain of the guard and Lou'hi's go-to drow.
Luo'natar Vana'tar Val'Tu'joltrezen: The youngest daughter of Lou'hi, the product of a union between her and Maahev Val'Querces.

Clan Relations:
Val'Ultrin'Mortath: 6 (were 1 regarding the Vel'Ultrin when they were a separate clan)
Val'Ves'flamel: 4
Val'Daron: 5
Val'Briz'esii: 3
Val'Duul'sscrea: 3
Val'De'vet: 4
Val'Quercus: 6
Val'M'elzar: 1
Val'Shurri'rivvaki: 4

Seke'chaer'el: 3
Noamuth'Ssivah: 3
Animal Totem: Kodiak Bear

Symbol: A white thunderbolt kolovrat outlined in light blue.

Clan Colors: White and blue.

Dominant Affinities: Metal, Ice, and Wood.

Main industry: Trade, mercenary services, agriculture

Ranks:
Shooters: The light infantry and archers of the Tu'joltrezen, composed of the youngest (or poorest) warriors in the clan. Generally carry javelins, bow or crossbow, and polearms. They are normally equipped with spider silk and mail armor, and are proficient in mana manipulation. Often used as scouts and expeditionary troops.
House Guard: The main infantry of the clan. Generally more skilled in mana manipulation/sorcery/high arts than the Shooters. Often fight in close formation, utilizing the skiltron formation in conjunction with mass mana shields. Wear full plate armor and wield naginatas/pikes, double handed axes or swords, and one-handed swords, often with shields or with another sword. Uses sorcery for ranged combat and breaking enemy formations.
Bear Knights: The elite of the House Guard, the Bear Knights ride armored war bears into battle and serve as shock troops. Usually favor naginatas/pikes as well as one handed swords for backup. Both the bear and rider wear full plate armor, sometimes with golem enhancements.
Severed Ones: The secret police and enforcers of the clan in peace time, and cavalry archers in wartime. Normally ride black raptors and wear black clothing and armor. They use lamellar chitin armor and deadly composite bows.
Shaman: The expert sorcerers and high artists of the Tu'joltrezen. Skilled in a variety of high arts and even some forms of summoning. Generally found in command of military units, they generally are fond of staff weapons.
Sark Amon: The best troops the Tu'joltrezen have; some claim that they are slaves taken into the clan and trained from childhood to be obedient and deadly warriors. The Sark Amon are feared for their proficiency in both the mana arts and in physical combat, and are used as body guards for the most powerful shamans, and wear specialized golem armor. Infamous for their trance-like battle frenzy, where Sark Amon have been said to shrug off blows that would cleave a lesser drow in twain and also strike with the strength of ten. The Tu'joltrezen like to claim that such an ability is derived from either an ancient sorcery remembered only by them, or by the favor of the gods, but is actually derived from a potent cocktail of psychoactive drugs, also used in certain religious rites. In battle, the Sark Amon use double-handed axes or swords, with duel wielded blades as backup.

Geography/History: The Val'Tu'joltrezen live in a wooded territory near the mushroom forest of Varash'd'Veldrin. Their territory is marked by massive stone citadels, formed from stone and dressed smooth to prevent enemies from climbing the walls. The walls are turreted and crenellated, fifty paces tall and twenty thick. Slender windows and murder holes are set into the walls to provide defense. The iron gates are protected by portcullises and decorated with protective runes formed by patterns of iron nails. Inside the massive fortress lie local markets and training fields/housing for their professional warriors. The largest of said fortresses is at the center of their domain, and marks the capital city of Hel'on.
They are relatively recent arrivals to Varash'd'Veldrin, originally being a band of traders and marauders from the east, who came to fight for Jana'vin in her war against the Devil Queen. Their Illhar'ess observed that they had no chance of defeating or extracting tribute from Varash'd'Veldrin, so they decided to settle there instead to trade with the locals and to take advantage of what the region had to offer. Bringing with them their martial, magic, ship crafting, animal husbandry, and trade skills, they may very well become an important force in the future. They are well known for being exceptional smiths and craftsmen, and their products are in great demand throughout Varash'd'Veldrin.
The western boundary is marked by the Gjoll River, a shallow yet icy stream that empties out into major waterways. The land itself is wild and hilly, gloomy and damp, the main pass known as Elghliik Videnn.
The Tu'joltrezen themselves tend to be very tall and slender with green eyes. They are a superstitious people, known to worship fire and sacred oak groves(both sacred to their chief deity Per'kunna), whose peasants live in meager huts within the stone walls where they garden the soil and herd haledri and goats adapted for underground conditions.
The Illhar’ess of the Val'Tu'joltrezen clan is chosen by a rather peculiar method. Every century, the Scarlet Hand, an oligarchic coven of sorceresses who serve as the clan's religious and temporal rulers, meet to elect the clan's Illhar’ess, choosing from the nine heads of the Scarlet Hand. The will of the Scarlet Hand is enforced by the Sark Amon, warbands under each of the members of the Scarlet Hand. The Illhar’ess has the right to demand the aid of other Scarlet Hand members, monetarily or in troop levies, in times of unrest. As of the war, all but three, Lou'hi, Kivu'tar and Vamm'atar, were slain.
Like many other clans the Tu'joltrezen have an extensive repository of knowledge recorded in the oral tradition. The Scarlet Hand specializes in maintaining this knowledge, but it is common for males to serve as scribes and record these poems. The female shamans of the Tu'joltrezen maintain a strong tradition of sorcery that continues today.
The Tu'joltrezen also host bands of hardy raiders who make repeated forays outside Varash'd'Veldrin (even to the surface) to gather slaves and plunder. Much of this goes towards the funding of their growing trading empire. Tu'joltrezen raids are infamous for their brutality, and raiders are known for burning anything they can't carry with them. The Tu'joltrezen being very tribal, dislike intrusions into their territories and will always destroy any settlements which come within several days march of their villages.

I think I'll have to fit my clan a little, it was getting clunky and I do not need the crown/ruling clan distinction to meet with my objectives if we've surfaced :3 Most likely I'll hand it over to someone else of my buddies. (Any takers?)

//Clan Name: Fel'andriu're (The watchers)
--Motto: "To keep the balance, price must be paid"
"The balance is all that matters"

//Illharess: Qe'luindia (mentally snapped), female
--Heir: Adria'liviante (too young to rule), female
---Adviser: Ve'shuante (holding the power until Adria can step up), male
----Guards: The Faces

//Clan Colors: Dark Ash gray & crimson red

//Clan Symbol: crimson scale on gray backround with a feather in other cup and sword in other

//Clan Animal: large non-flying bats

//Clan Size: extremely small (only 26 members in total)

//Races: Drowlath, three Ne'kalsaider (the Faces)

//Dominant Affinities: Shadow & Empathy

//Main Industry: Information (their only real industry, in fact)
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

//Clan Troops:
-Ears & Eyes (10): The clan's information gatherers. If you want to know anything in Varash, you ask them. Their ranks contain multiple empaths, and all of them have trained in different ways of hiding, misleading and avoiding detection. Basic training in fighting skills.
-Claws (10): Clan's real fighting force. They are extremely well-trained trained in assassination and it's different ways as well as picking out small possible threats. Aren't really trained for face-to-face combat.
-Faces(3): The guardians. The Ne'kalsaider. They are the only visible and public soldiers of the Clan. Heavily armored, trained in defensive mana arts and fighting styles. Ultimate protectors, if you may call them.

//Clan Relations:
(Will fill out later when all the clans come up)

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

//Notes:
-The clan has no real fortress, but instead has adapted a way of living in safe houses at the commoner's areas, or within other clan's fortresses. Basicly every clan they have connections with has one Ear or Eye and one Claw they can make contact with if they have anything to say to the clan.
-Their Illharess is bed-ridden right now, hallucinating, mentally snapped and unable to rule her people at all. Her son has stepped to take control until her daughter is old enough to take his place.
-Faces operate a location-changing "main fortress" around the city. This is basicly the public face of the Clan: Even Illharess and her two children hide themselves, unless called to a meeting.
-Fel'andriu're has adapted a symbiotic existence with other clans, living in the cracks between them and filtering all kinds of information trough itself to all of them, snatching small payments for its services along the way.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

//History:
(As with relation, will fill out when location has been decided)

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

//Places of importance:

Multitude of small guarded locations around the city's outskirts and centrum
-These locations are the "open" place of the clan, and serve as the public's way to bring any requests to the clan itself, should they need anything from it. Usually fortified and trapped to a deadly degree.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

//Known Clan Members:

*Qe'luindia {Illharess}
-The leader that lifted the Clan to it's current position & rank and guarded it for decades. Has been bedridden and unable to show to the public for past five years. Thin, but agile and powerful both in magic and leadership.

*Ve'shuante {1st son)
-Thin, usually hood-wearing tall man. Speaks in bit low voice, doesn't say much in general. Took the clan's lead to his hands when his mother's mind broke down. Has been holding the clan's neutrality and motto to it's fullest, and been actually able to spread their influence among the commoners.

*Adria'liviante {1st daughter, 2nd child}
Only thing known is that she is young, too young to rule in fact. Hasn't shown knowingly up to nearly anyone in the past five years. Said to be training vigorously.

____________________________
(Used the "old" clan template as base)

Sooo, went on and posted my idea I sent to Maria few days (or was it weeks?) ago. As you may see, there's still many parts unfilled, like the history. However, I'd like to know about our time skip and similar things before deciding completely on that, 'cause whenever I start to re-write history or geography, I DO re-write it. Completely. And that's no fun.

Yeah,Fel'andriu is an extremely small clan, completely based on secrecy, stealth and information gathering. Surprisingly, they have quite a lot power in the city being as small as they are, but refuse to even think about becoming Vals. Not that they would be accepted to have that title.

Hopefully didn't blow anyone's ideas off with this.
Stealth and shadows are mine! *insert evil maniac laugh here*

Info on Mortaths, so far. It might change, but the general feeling is in there. Secretive, callous,researchers and masterminds with a lot of skeletons inside the closet. :P (original idea was Fallout's Enclave meets Thousand Sons, drow version).

I think that we found the clan Fel'andriu is mostly asked to spy upon, and who might pay them handsomely so they will NOT tell anyone anything... XD
