As for empathy affecting insane people. Yes. Yes it does. You can mind crush insane people JUST AS MUCH as you can mind crush sane people Insanity isn't some protection against empathy :b And I think that just a small bit used to generate some calm, good feelings would not cause much of a problem. THAT is basic empathy.

The dealer is a shadow empathy user, a rare talent of the Esmeralia clan that is an empathy that is completely and utterly used to hurt you.They train to mind crush and cause physical harm rather then use it to help others and heal or do minor tricks. Other empaths are extremely uneasy around the Vals of Esmeralia to the point some can't even be in the same room

Minor empaths of Esmeralia have grown use to this uneasy feelings of dread so they don't avoid them. :b
