This or That?

Shanked, because being shot would rip apart a buttload other organs and cause mass pain whereas being shanked should be relatively localized and just as quickly lethal.

A real one because I don't know what "macanical" means. Plus, they taste better. ;)

A Japanese Katana? (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... ntou74.JPG)

Edit: The European sword is a little short handle-wise, but I'm too lazy to find another picture.

Japanese katana, as I have practiced using it for past 4 or 5 years now.
Plus, handguard just is something I can't aling with my wrists.

Calm hot summer night. Yeah, I'll whine and sweat, but I hate the cold more.

Do you have official training with the katana or just that's what you have and like to play with? Either way can you explain why those who do it Japanese style have so much trouble with the crossguard? I'm not sure what you meant by aling, by the way, so I'm asking about the various compliants I've come across online about whacking one's forearms with the crossguard.

European styles usually teach one to avoid "breaking the wrist", which seems to be about the only way to reliably hit your forearms with the crossguard. I say this having always had European style swords and never having any problems with the crossguards. I'm assuming there must be something in any given Japanese style that causes the problem when one tries to use European swords in said Japanese style.

And since I can't not have something here:

Official training, both in iaido ("battou"-techniques, or drawing techniques) and kendo (...yes, the sport. But they practice the actual strikes)

Hmm, actually, the main reason for myself is that my standard "bringing the sword in circle behind my back to over my head to ready stance"-movement requires a free movement of wrist area. And mostly this movement is hindered with the handguard, if there is any. I've tried many times and many angles, and it still doesn't work.
Other being that there actually ARE some techniques that require you to hold the blade's dull side alinged against your body, causing the handguard to actually pres firmly to your chest/solar plexus area. If it is european handguard, it really hurts.

Oh, and answer is pants, as I hate shorts. Bad memories about fire ants, poison ivy and stuff.

Happy face of course, who wants a gloomy one?

The first thing sounds like a hanging guard of some kind. *Takes out sword and tries it* Clearly I am not doing whatever it is you do, because I have no trouble at all... Must be much closer to the body or something, which I can't see any reason for, but on the other hand I know little of JSA.

As for the other techniques, well, I'm not sure what the heck you're talking about, but it sounds like I would agree with you there. *Thinks about it* Maybe I'll PM you with more questions. I'd like to know more. Perhaps you know of some simple Youtube videos or websites showing the basics?

Humty dumty, because the muffin man sounds like a muffin top. And a man, man. Although, so is Hum(p?)ty Dum(p?)ty, but I think there was an old school hip hop song, in addition to the nursery rhyme, so he at least has the soundtrack thing going for him.
