"A cunning assassination, mask intentions, and well played puppets saw to the raise of a new leader and ruler of Varash D'Veldrin, Illharess Baelin Val'D'aron. Her raise came to be upon the untimely and suspicious death of her late mother and great war hero Janavin. Whom many had been convinced that her (Jana'vin's) end had been orchestrated by the Val'Ultrin's Illharess, Chess'breena. In truth it was just the beginning of a larger more complicated plan; started by her sister Mal'breena to gained control of her sister's clan and their knowledge.
The incident however began to spread doubts about the leadership qualities of the new Empress, leading many in the clan circles to believed they're new Empress to be weak, and wouldn't be able to handle the clan as well as her mother had. While most of the concern were kept within the clan walls, the majority of the populous didn't allow they're doubts to slip into fear in till...
Whispers of the weakening economy, and fears of its stagnate growth, pushed clans from merely doubtful onlookers to aggressive reformers. They were further fueled to push the limits of they're new Empress, by the growing rumors that spread through the ranks of commoners. Four clans in particular pushed back the hardest against the New Empress old ways of thinking. The Val'Mortath, Val'Querces, Val'Tu'joltrezen, and the Val’Duul’sscrea, powerful clans who believed that change could only come through chaos. Mama Melandra of Val'Mortath clan pointed to several areas of poverty within the city and to polarized economy as evidence for that the Varash D'Veldrin needed change and quickly. The Val'Mortath made it clear that they thought the problems stemmed from the leadership of the Val'D'aron, though there was no evidence supported those claims. Instead each council meeting lead to further arguments, new ways verses old. Both sides using propaganda to sway the minds of those clans and commoners who sat neutral in the growing storm.
Each attack though, was buffeted by the resistant Baelin Val'D'aron, who was far from a pushover and was determined to remain on her throne as Empress. The storm grew louder and harsher as commoners and clansmen alike took sides. The conflicting views of what was right and wrong turned clan meetings into verbal battlefields. Each clan beginning to believe that they're side was truly doing or was going to do what was right for the city. Though the leaders of Val'D'aron, still believed that despite the verbal fire they're had firm and strong control over the city. That they since they had the support of the majority, they still held the reigns of the city.
Those reign over the populous didn't mean control over the old time feuds of the clans. Feuds, fears, and regrets that the Val'Mortath exploited to pressure they're allies into full agreement with them. One being the longstanding feud between the Val'Querces and the Val'M'elzars. Everyone knew of that the Illharess of the Val'Querces held no love for the Illharn of the Va''M'elzar. Just as many knew that the Val'Duul'screa feared losing their control over the school of clans to the Va'D'aron growing influence. Both clans were the perfect grounds to sow the seed of unrest and worry. With they're alliances affirmed, the Val'Mortath continued to strengthen the already existing doubts of the city's people.

In no time the pressures, fears, and anxieties reached a fever pitch and in one swift blow the Val'Mortath pulled the trigger that started the war. In the beginning, Val'Daron were overly confident about the threat, thinking that the Val'Mortath were merely using the tactics of the old and long hated nether summoning skills of Dhaunbreena and her crew. They reacted to the small attacks against they're clan strongholds by spreading out they're forces, telling them to focus on protecting the people and pushing back the Val'Mortath forces. However, the Val'Querces had a handle on that. They had opened up they're theaters and other venues to those commoners seeking safety from the fighting. However as the battles progressed further northwards, the war steadily grew outwards becoming less of a "clan only" war and leaving the commoners without a place to go. They scattered, some became caught in crossfires, while others managed to get to the doors of those clans still neutral to the fighting. The northern section of Varash D'Veldrin was ravaged by the storm of the battles.
Though no part of the city was truly free of the chaos. One place was the School of clans, that the Val'Duul'screa had changed to become the prison holding the leaders of the Val'M'elzar. However the smaller, less war prepared clan couldn't hold down the Val'M'elzar forces, and soon were lost to the history they held so dear. In a last effort to stop the leaders from reaching they're island home, the Val'Querces stepped in and in one saddening blow sowed the seeds of regrets for Illharess Incubo'mora and anger and heartbreak for the new Illharn of Val' M'elzar, Cal'atar. So sadden was she that she failed to stop him from escaping to the clan's island. However it was much to late by then, a clan had fallen from they're position, people lay dead in the streets, land had shifted hands and there were new ruler siting on the throne.

After the end of the war, many regretted actions they had taken, while others were eager to see the new positions in the higher clans. Some accepted the revival and awakening of the city. While others waited in the shadows of the city looking. Though all agree there was much change with a new ruler. There were less people, but a greater economy. There were worst grudges, but equal to the regret. There was change. Whether it was ill or good, that was for the clans to decide. Since the people though wary of the new rulers and saddened by the loss of they fellow city folks, were more eager to put the conflict behind them. There were those that feared that with the release of the old nether summoning, that the Two Hundred Year of Darkness would return. While other still believe that this new ruler is false and were not the true rulers of the city. Others seek to embrace the new ways, and turn an eye to the madness and fear, hoping for a new start.

So now the clans gather. The clans who had hidden behind blades and armor, now meet face to face in what many hope will either bring back the old ways or begin a new progressive start. The clans will meet to the cheers of people and the calls of resentment. They will meet to talk of peace or further bloodshed. They will with daggers behind they're back or smiles on they're faces. They will meet...And Gods only know how it will end."

Guide to creating a clan

Postby Maria » Wed Jun 23, 2010 4:27 pm

CREATING A CLAN
~~~~~
A few notes on creating a clan;
Do NOT rip off already existing clans from here, or from the drow tales setting. Please, try to be original. Come up with your own mounts, colour combinations to represent your clan, and etc. Don't just take an already existing clan concept like the Sullisin'rune, change their name and give them a new mount and colours.
Be unique and have fun with it.
_ _ _
Some notes;
~The drowussu race is exclusive to the Val'M'elzar and Val'Querces clans (any renegade drowussu from Xia'Thacmon belong to the Querces).
~Nether summoning is openly banned in Varash.
~Dark elves are still seen around the city and accepted as part of society (though they are fewer than drow).
~The only patriarchal clan is the M'elzar, this is only accepted as they were/are close to the D'aron.
~Illharess (ruler of a Val clan), Illhar (ruler of a minor clan), Illharn (male ruler of a clan)
Topics of Discussion
Postby Maria » Wed Jun 23, 2010 5:25 pm
There are a few things that have to be adressed before we can really start anything;
-What the clan alliances were during the civil war
-Who got involved in the war and who stayed out of it
-How heavy each clans' losses were based on their involvement
-What tactics and troops were used by what side
-What party had won the conflict
-Was there a shift of power
-Is there new leadership within the city
-List the clans that have perished in the conflict
-How much time has passed since the civil war
-How the clan relations stand now that the war is over
-Any significant changes to have occured
Alright, I say we start with;
-What the clan alliances were during the civil war
-Who got involved in the war and who stayed out of it
For myself, my clan relations would have been
Val'Querces relations;
Val'Ultrin'Mortath: 6
Val'Tu'joltrezen: 6
Val'Ves'flamel: 5
Val'D'aron: 4
Val'Briz'esii: 4
Val’Duul’sscrea: 4
Val'De'vet: 3
Val'M'elzar: 1
Seke'chaer'el: 3
Noamuth'Ssivah: 3
Val'Querces involevement in the Great War;
-Involved themselves in the conflict as healers to support their allies and aided them in the defense of their lands when needed to (as well as defending their own territories from possible attack). Grew in hostility towards the M'elzar.
WOW *omfg* , you deserve a plate of cookies for all this work you typed up Maria *ooo* "hands ya a plate of cookies plus a Mikilu plushie"
At any rate, I'll put down what I think are my clan relations for now, but I'll honestly need to talk with the owners of these clans to be absolutely certain of how good or bad relations are between them (plus some of these players have either quit or haven't been heard from in a long time, so we may need to remove some of them from the list and invite new people anyway).
Val'M'elzar relations;
Val'Ultrin'Mortath: 1
Val'Tu'joltrezen: 1
Val'Ves'flamel: 2
Val'D'aron: 6
Val'Briz'esii: 5
Val’Duul’sscrea: to be determined
Val'De'vet: 6
Val'Quercus: 1
Seke'chaer'el: to be determined
Noamuth'Ssivah: to be determined
Val'M'elzar involevement in the Great War;
-Involved themselves in the conflict as mana support to support their allies and aided them in the defense of their lands when needed to (as well as defending their own territories from possible attack). Grew in hostility towards the Querces. Hired the De'vet's for defense when doing business in the city or traveling abroad.
Val' D'aron relations= this one will be tricky (we need to figure out which clans were the most hostile during the war, who started it, and who fell). Ves'flamel is finished, we know that much, so we can probably remove them from clan relations. I picture the D'arons as being the one's defending the city against whoever started causing the trouble, their goal being to minimize civilian casualties and maintain the peace and unity the Old Queen had created under her reign.
They may have crumbled during the war. So keep them on for the relations before the war.
Val'D'aron relations;
Val'Ultrin'Mortath: 3 (I don't believe they were best of friends at the end but that they weren't at eachother's throats yet either)
Val'Tu'joltrezen: 5
Val'Ves'flamel: 4
Val'D'aron: 6
Val'Briz'esii: 6
Val’Duul’sscrea: 5
Val'De'vet: 6
Val'Quercus: to be determined (were allies before but i could see that Incubomora was not a fan of the new queen)
Seke'chaer'el: to be determined
Noamuth'Ssivah: to be determined
Val'D'aron involevement in the Great War;
-Did everything in their power to crush the instigators of the conflict, giving aid to those clans who remained loyal to the ruling clan and doing everything in their power to keep civilian casualties to a minimum. Strong military and police presence.
If any of what I've posted here for relations is considered wrong by the players let me know and I'll change it, be it the relations should be better or worse, etc
We will have to repost our clan profiles right?
I think 20 years should have passed since the civil war started.
Enough for clans to die and a new generation to come.
Val'Briz'esii relations:
Val'D'aron: 6
Val'M'elzar: 5
Val'Querces: 2
Val'Ultrin'Mortath: 2
Val'Tu'joltrezen: 3
Val'Ves'flamel: 2
Val’Duul’sscrea: 4
Val'De'vet: 3
Val'Briz'esii involvement in the Great War:
The Briz didnt join the war straight away. It tried to stay completely neutral in order to take over what would be left standing. They disallowed any armies to cross their territory inorder to keep their territory combat free. Because of their neutral state many commoners joined them to flee the combats. Their ranks grew larger. After some time they were pulled into the brawl by the D'aron and M'elzar on their side. They helped their allies by keeping the skies clear of foes and by sending death on top of their enemy's heads.
This is all too complicated to assess it now, and it can be subject to change over time. I disapprove of this method of dealing with the war.
That being said, I think discussion over who got who is needed before these charts and the explanations given on who did who.
On my part, Ultrin'Mortath were the heart of one of the sides of the war. They, however, bolstered the power of their allies and used the most combat-ready of them as spearhead to weaken the other side, then to unleash the full might of the ultrin assimilated army and Mortath machinery. I'd have expected that they'd be not active at first, but then unleashed HELL and CHAOS upon the battlefield.
Their allies would've been:
Val'Ves'Flamel - They were ousted in first place to go and take the crown, raising the hostilities. Their final fate was not any important to Mortath, however.
Val'Querces - Provided medical support and close help. The Mortath saw they would live through the war, as battle-sisters.
Val'Duul'Screa - Provided Information and political leverage. Same case as above.
Val'Tu'joltrezen- They were used as spearhead and were considered as allies per Querces request. Mortath were initially indifferent, but would appreciate their efforts over time.
Val'Ultrin half- The conquered clan would've been the might of the Ultrin'Mortath blow. Bolstered by nether and technology, they would have been the meatshield for the other half as well as the hitting hammer.
Val'Zhennu'Mortath half- During the war, the side saw that their golem, biotech and nether tech was in full use by them and their allies, as well as keeping a failsafe of the technology stashed somewhere.
Weird that the M'elzar would be so close to the Tu'joltrezen when the Tu'jols were part of the Val'Quercus/Mortath/Tu'joltrezen coalition... The Tu'joltrezen are quite friendly towards the D'aron but I'm not sure they'd officially be allies. Maybe I was wrong?
Here's the alliance information thus far for the Val'Tu'joltrezen:
Val'Ultrin'Mortath: 6 (were 1 regarding the Vel'Ultrin when they were a separate clan)
Val'Ves'flamel: 4
Val'Daron: 5
Val'Briz'esii: 3
Val'Duul'sscrea: 3
Val'De'vet: 4
Val'Quercus: 6
Val'M'elzar: 1
Seke'chaer'el: 3
Noamuth'Ssivah: 3
The Tu'joltrezen joined up with the alliance between the Ves'flamel/Querces/and Mortath during the war in return for Val status.
