The lack of the lights does concern me...Perhaps they may have perished while waiting already?

Either way I think its up to Q to get a closer look.

If we indeed send a charge only to discover a bunch of corpses...or worse...

My guesses would be,

They noticed someone and are hiding,

Most of them are asleep and the lookouts don't want to be noticed,

They are all dead or not there.

Or;

They are leaving

They had a fight and killed / disabled the guy who insisted to keep the light on

Or they just turn off the light to economize the ressources...

Aren't we trying too much to figure it out instead to go see what's happening exactly? We have a scout already there who can investigate. Specially if there is no light it will be easier for him to sneak throught it and see what is really happening.

Also he has some assistant who could bring the metal scrap back to the camp while he play the ninja spy.

Time will tell, I'm just glad we got some resources for making weapons again.

At least it seems we got some more metal scraps, so we've replenished our supply of steel.

Bah, I'm so far behind... I have a ton of ptoses to catch up on.

Basically, I'm sure that, while we've been assuming there's been a watch, that the watch has basically fallen by the wayside. REGARDLESS OF WHAT WE'VE DONE HERE, and I know it doesn't make sense, and I feel the same way, the bottom line is that we're just gonna have to assume that we've all been too busy otherwise. I dunno, I kind of can't think straight at the moment.

IF I set up a watch, it's going to be the only thing our squad does from here on out, because it's a time-and-manpower intensive thing... so I'm leary to do so at this point. At the moment we have some priorities... but I must go get my other ptosing done first.

Well at this very moment, we haven't any warmaster to train choose and orginise the watch. So maybe the watch who was there were just not qualified for this type of work. Maybe it was a ex-farmer who tought it was useless and fell asleep on the job, or something like that.

I just looks at the night watch at my actual job and trust me, if somebody wants to leave the place without trace, it's possible :P

The first time Q went up to the ruins the slaves were arguing about the light. It could be that the fellow that was insisting on the light finally keeled over and fell asleep. :-P

Anyway with no light up there it's certain that the lights down here are going to be noticed for sure if they haven't been already.

"MRPH!" *happy muffled noises as he's glomped by Ys'sa*
"mrph-mmm-mmt-mrph-mrhp!"

(translates roughly as: "YES!" then "and sledge hammer is not better for forge work!")

to add my two gil to this...

why not have one of the scouts go undercover, infiltrait the slaves in the ruines and get a good report? its not like they would be bending the truth that far. we all escaped from enslavement or death.

secondly.. where did you go for those avatars?

The numbers of the slaves would be too obvious, and our infiltrator's lack of knowledge too much of a give-away. I imagine that, with their current state of mind, that group of slaves will think of anyone extra appearing as an enemy, and will butcher them and use them for meat.

scarry thout, I'd hate to see that happen!! I think if we are ever going to make any le-way at the ruins, we will need millitary backing... it be mad to move on well armed troops.
