We need to beat the peons into a proper pecking order and limit their direct contact/whining to the Ill'Haress soon. While I'm sure An'jhali wants to be out and among the people - and that's perfectly fine - we should try to get some sort of mediator to take down the people's suggestions and complaints and submit them to An'jhali in a calm manner that doesn't include twenty people shouting things out all at once.

Dear Leader is young and inexperienced, but she makes up for it in charisma and a sincere desire to help the clan, not just use it as a means to an end. We need to find a way to keep these strengths on our side and limit the weaknesses this stance represents. We can't cut her off from the clan, but we should keep things calm around her and stop putting her into high-pressure situations. Perhaps a form of secret police...

Hmm... My first reaction was slavers, or something, but the tents have disappeared with 'em. Unless... maybe those runaway slaves? I dunno, veeeeeeery suspicious!

I'm guessing our unsubscribers are heading to Chel (unless, of course, they've all disappeared into the ether, but I doubt Kern would make note of that in an update). This could expose us to the major powers far too early.

They're weighed down with their belongings and moving in a large group over terrain they're not familiar with. A quick-moving, small force with some basic knowledge of the area can probably catch up to them. We need to either herd them back to the rest of the clan... or kill them all if they resist. This might be a good opportunity to see what those golems are all about.

Y'know, if we kill 'em all, we could get some fresh meat out of it! But what worries me is that, with these people leaving, those slaves are bound to catch sight of us, or rather, of the cowardly stooges that have abandoned the clan. Which means we'll have to deal with them quickly, as well.

This was a major problematic discussion when Path to Power started. There was no clear cut answer then, I don't think there is one now. We still have few resources, and for the moment, most (I use most loosely here) of the clan seem to have learned to not overwhelm the Il'haress, which seem to be the only thing to do for now.

With this latest update, Mr. Neko-sama has seen to it to inject the first story-wise problem after the settlement of Tei'kaliath is in place. To quote Shiir'fhayah in the last panel:

"Lady An'jhali! Sixteen of us have gone missing since yesterday! Tents and everything all gone!"

I should also point out that Il'haress An'jhali said quote/unquote, "She heard a ruckus the last few hours" before waking up.

That said, something is amiss people, and we have to figure out what's going on. There are just some things in my opinion that might have happened:

1 - Those sixteen have proceeded further, intent on setting up camp somewhere near the light, or at the ruins, or farther along the river, their curiosity getting the better of them.

2 - Someone came into the camp during the night, taking 16 random people and their gear/supplies whatever they might have had. (Slavers anyone?)

3 - The 16 have decided that they have had it, and go on a journey back the way we came. (Unlikely, but I figured I put it here anyway.)

Anyone else have any ideas?

**EDIT**

*pats Kail on the head* S'okay.

Well, the most obvious thing to do is send out someone to track down what happened to our missing people, but the only one who has any idea of the layout right now is Quel. We need to get him back up to full strength, so our little unit can go a-hunting. We'll also need to check on those slaves, just to see what's going on with them. Outside of that, let's start building a defense force, ASAP. If it was slavers, or anyone else, then I'd say that it was our tournament that attracted their attention, and now we're paying the price for it.

Find them. Rescue them if they've been captured, kill them if they've run off. And Lady Tenkage is right about the slaves. Let's go after them ASAP. They probably haven't had anything to eat recently, are in poor health, and only lightly armed. We've just started stockpiling food surpluses, appointed a healer, and held and concluded a martial arts tournament. We should be able to overwhelm them without losses.

We should also look into sealing the tunnel we came through at some point, especially if these guys have decided to try to return home. We didn't exactly leave the fatherland for shits and giggles - something or someone ran us out. We don't want them coming after us and reaming us in the back door while we're focusing on Chel. We have some Earth specialists available - collapse that oversized rathole.

And get a bloody militia ready. We'll crack skulls the way Cane did - good old-fashioned rocks off the ground.

Why should we kill them if they simply ran away, maybe enslave them but...kill them for running away?

Is that fair?

Maybe the new scouts should search for them?

oh holy fuck... this is bad news bears guys... REAL BAD NEWS!!!
if I might suggest, our look outs have failed miserably, and if it were slavers they would haven't take the stuff... we got deserters, and no idea where they went, I think Quel has some tracking to do.

Why enslave them? If they did run away, then they've abandoned the clan, and clearly don't care about what happens to us, so why should we be merciful? If they don't have the courage to stick it out with us, then we should stop wasting valuable resources on them. If we enslave, then we're still have to feed them. Plus, without any real materials, we can't exactly make chains and collars for them, now can we? It would be a complete and utter waste of our already limited resources.

However, you are right about us scouts going out to track them down, first. We need to find out what actually happened, before rushing to judgement.

Edit: And I hate to say it, but we're either gonna have to put a rush on those weapons, or fight without 'em.

At least we have the advantage of Ti'ray, so we arent useless without weapons.

And i agree, we need to investigate what happened.

Besides, trying to enslave former members of the clan won't work. They'll find sympathetic ears and either escape again - with some friends along for the ride - or try to seize power. We need them dead and their heads on pointy sticks as a lesson to anyone else who'd try to sell us out.

We shouldnt resort to barbarian tactics, that would make us no worse than those who destroyed the clan in the first place.

And vlad the impalling runaways during this state of affairs isnt very good for the morale....
