PERSONALITY NOTES: Despite his constant desire to prove himself, Tur'geis is generally a laid-back person with a sharp sense of humor, including mid/post-battle smack talk and taunts. His competitive nature is reflected in his large ego and outspokenness;. Tur'geis has a strong, albeit barbaric, sense of honor, as befitting his upbringing in the untamed sectors outside of Imperium space. Most civilized drow might think him a simple-witted barbarian at first glance, though it belies a fierce cunning and keen intelligence. Like most from the Bal'or systems, he enjoys a good drink and a good fight.

BACKGROUND: Tur'geis grew up the son of famed pirate raiders in the lawless Bal'or systems. It was clear from the start that he had boots to fill. As soon as Tur'geis was old enough, he joined up with a pirate crew. Tur'geis quickly made his way up through the ranks, eventually becoming captain of his own ship at a young age. After a brief period of terrorizing drow space, Tur'geis' ship was destroyed and he was captured by the Navy. He was given two options; service on a salvage ship in the uncharted areas of space, or indefinite imprisonment in an unreliable stasis chamber. The choice was an obvious one. Today he serves his time on the salvage cruiser Quill'yate, and has gained a grudging respect for his squadmates in the Marauders.

Uh, I forgot to add he has an artificial hand with a mana crystal in it.
The hand was lost in the siege of the black sun campaign.

Kind of wondering how that would be taken care of in a high tech setting.

HAIR: Blue-grey, long, held back in a loose spiky ponytail (falls down to the small of her back) with a slight fringe, longer on the sides of her face.
DETAILS: Almost always wears an headset with an orange holographic eyepiece - no-one knows what she listens to with it, however, because it's almost definitely not her orders...

JOB: Repair/Armorer
WEAPON: Heavy Pistol
WEAPON MOD: Basic Targeting Assist

ARMOR MOD 1: Basic Energy Shield

PERSONALITY NOTES: Arrogant and assertive, Sarielle is not one to back down from a challenge of any kind, believing that her genius-level intelligence will always pull her through. When she does lose, however, she reacts aggressively and petulantly, lashing out at whatever she percieves to be the source of her failure, often in a comically ineffective manner. She loves machines and technology, and is never happier than when she has a new toy to tinker with.

BACKGROUND: Born to a fairly poor family on a fairly isolated colony, Sarielle found her aptitude for all things mechanical at a very young age - and with equipment and tools always breaking down in the colony, there was no shortage of practice. Still, she hated the colony life, and wanted out, so when the Survey Fleet recruiters arrived at their little colony, she left without a backwards glance.

There are a few artificial limbs shown in space age...

Claire has an artificial leg. Hammer has an Artificial Arm.... Oh yeah, and uh, Viper has an artificial face ^^;

The problem isn't just the names, it's the entire dynamic you've outlined for the setting. In your background you've established several things:

- There are lawless systems.
- Said systems are inhabited by pirates.
- Those pirates are *famous*.
- Your character is the heir to this legacy.
- Your character was exceptional at a young age (MARY SUE ALERT)
- The drow empire has become extremely forgiving of criminals.

The problem is that it isn't a vague brushstroke of an individual's life, it's a vague brushstroke of a *famous* person's life, and that's not allowed in regular Relic Hunters; why would that be any different, here?

In the writing contest, it's perfectly allowed to do write whatever you want; your own characters, ships, whatever. But making up entire systems and famous bands of pirates goes against the setting.

There might be space pirates, but it is a privilege to serve Admiral Space Sillice. Trustworthy new recruits were chosen for this. Space pirates or criminals, if anything, would be front line shock troops ^^ They would not be given first class military training and then sent on an important mission where they can cause trouble.

Ah, okay. ^^; My fault for not realizing outright the Mary Sue-ness of having his parents be described as "famed" and having him become captain of a ship at a young age. I hope this rewrite of the background is more acceptable:

BACKGROUND: Tur'geis grew up on a colony far from the center of the drow empire. The colony's harsh environment and tendency to be preyed upon by lawless elements were known to breed a hardy people. Tur'geis had a reputation as a troublemaker at a young age, often skipping school and chores to detonate crude home-made explosives and hunt wildlife, and eventually joined the Navy to escape the hazards and monotony of his home planet. Despite his tendencies for excessive aggression, overkill, and drunken brawling, Tur'geis managed to graduate academy with high enough marks to be assigned to the salvage cruiser Quill'yate.

BACKGROUND: Sorin was born the child of a minor colony, destroyed during the war, he never talks about it and if pressed will simply walk away, this was when he lost his eye

all he will say is that it was very sudden and he was rescued when a small fleet arrived to retake the planet, he joined the Military soon after

Sorin is a quiet, unassuming man who has always been more at home with machines than people and can be usually found up to his armpits in some piece of tech, repairing or upgrading (weather it needs it or not)

BTW, I've been wondering... I originally wanted to give Sari a sort of Mass-Effect-like holographic eyepiece-thingy (http://images.cosplay.com/photos/26/2643320.jpg, only orange) but I wasn't sure how to do that... If I just put that info on her character sheet, will that be okay?
