Akapasu Room

Hey my squadmates!

I thought as an idea to help us kind of communicate/remind each other, we can have a thread here.

So hopefully, assuming I don't die horribly, we can do better on keeping up with pages. Or I can do better, specifically, now that I'm back! :P

Welcome back, blackshade!

Now let's see how we can save Aether. I figure recruiting the prisoners or sending them off might be one way. In fact, I think it's the primary way we might come out ahead in this. Action's up!

This week's action, due to popular demand:

"Damn. No princess here."

"No giant mehsusmar either."

"We did find two plumbers, though. I mean, mercenaries."

"Look, I don't know what fairy tales you three have been reading, but if I hear one more 'itsa me' from either of you, I'll ration your liquor. How are you doing on that baby mehsus, Xtka'en?"

"Ow! Sharess' mercy, its teeth are like teeny tiny daggers!"

Akapasu squad will tie up and take their prisoners with them as they head for higher and safer ground. We also search our new friends for ada and valuables. Once in a comparatively safe spot, we will ask pointed questions like 'Where is the loot', 'who employed you', 'how many of you are there left, and where are they stationed?' and 'are any survivors from the caravan being kept here'?

Ma'lessi will check on her pack. Presumably the kiddie mehsusmar has broken free of its egg and is hungry for food, and for lack of it is trying to tear apart her equipment. She will delegate the feedening to Xtka'en, who will try to find out what a baby mehsusmar prefers to eat. We all hope she will not lose too many fingers to this noble quest.

We move carefully, and listen for sounds of more enemies ahead. Ma'lessi keeps carrying the specialized climbing gear.

Contingencies;

If the cold rain leaking in is starting to affect us, we break out our 5x heatstones to warm and dry up as we interrogate our prisoners. If any of our prisoners attempt to make a break for it, we try to stop them without damaging them too much.

Duck Hunting

For posterity:

Option #1 = The Rift

"Hey, Ma'lessi. Why is this instruction pamphlet on bungee jumping labeled 'Demon Escape Plan #52?"

"Mislabeling."

"I see. Also, how did you get access to half a mile's worth of Sarghress military grade bungee cord?"

"... creative mislabeling."

----

Option #2 - Beneath the Bed of Kharla

"So... Kiel, was it? Did anybody check under Kharla'ggen's bed?"

Kiel: "What? You crazy! Nobody goes there!"

"Oh. Then I guess we should-"

Kiel: "--and lives. But tell you what, I admire your courage. You go get 'em! I'll tell the scourges to let you through. Now scoot, and do my bidding!"

"... I'm starting to think this was a bad idea."

---

Option #3 = The Jaal'darya Bio-Duckinator

"There's only one faction who would be sick and twisted enough to kidnap a rubber ducky. The Jaal'darya."

*collective groan*

"Has this got -anything- to do with that one bio-duckinator story in the 'creative' porn book we found? I tell you, there's no such place as the 'Isle of Doctress Mare'u'."

Kiel: "Oh man! I thought you Sarghress were all brainless brawniacs, but you've got -good- intel! If it was in a creative porn book, it's gotta be true, that's like a rule or something. Go hunt down Doctress Mare'u and DEMAND an explanation!"

"But-"

"Scoot!"

--

Option #4 - Snadhya'rune's personal quarters.

"So... anyone else think we ought to use this as an excuse to do a thorough and in-depth search of Snadhya'rune's luxury quarters at Orth?"

"... what the hell. I see no reason why we couldn't."

"Man, I've heard -legends- about that place. Chocolate-coated, cake-laden legends."

Temple of the Infernal Duck

Once more, for posterity:

"Oh shit."

"What?"

"Lost temple of unknown origin."

"Oh fuck!"

"Why are you all cussing, I thought this was a good thing? We're Relic Hunters, aren't we? Let's loot that place!"

"Yeeah... about that. Lost Temples are the worst, seriously. There's always undead and/or demonic guardians in them."

"Not to mention the giant stone crushing traps, the naga pits (I hate nagas), lava pools, the giant rolling boulders that'll squish you and those pendulum of DOOM things."

"Ugh, and the keys. We've got to hunt down a bunch of keys or and weird objects to be able to progress from room to room. That's like a rule of cosmic law or something."

"And solve riddles! I hate riddles! Why we gotta solve all those damn riddles! TIMED riddles, even! If you fail, you gotta start all over. I got stuck on one for three days, once! Three Sharess damned days! I wanted to puke until I found a Wal'ky'thru faerie to help me out."

"Worst of all, once we've gotten through it all, defeated every challenge, they ALWAYS collapse on themselves, allowing us -just- enough time to flee for our lives."

"It's like these temples have a self-destruct mechanism or something. If we're lucky we'll get out with one nonsense item of weird mystical significance, our lives and not much else."

"Why do it, then?"

"Duh, if we don't, the world will end."

"What?!"

"There's always a doomsday cult plotting to end the world in one of these and we Relic Hunters always arrive in the nick of time. I bet we'll find that Ducky is involved somehow. That'd figure."

"I'll bet ada on two to ten odds that Major Milkan and that greenie leader have gotten themselves captured and are going to be sacrificed in a big heathen ceremony."

"No bet."

Akapasu squad gird their loins, wipe their tears and set off into the Temple of the Infernal Duck to be Heroes. Selfless pro bono Heroes.

Dammit.

"Is it just me or is the entrance shaped like an angry giant duck head that's about to swallow you?"
