On Character Sheets

Re: On Character Sheets

Ack, I meant to get to this when it was posted.

Good suggestion, I have now added an applicable line to the sheet just to make sure there's no confusion.

Don't worry; you're not retarded. ^^ It was pretty vague!

So, fixed. :D Good suggestions, guys; remember, this sheet is to help you, and if it isn't helpful, then it needs to be revised~!

I was wondering if a sling would be acceptable for a back up weapon?

It would appear nobody can choose a backup weapon anymore. The question remains if a sling is an option for primary weapon, if you're interested.

The backup weapon is a last-resort melee weapon that doubles as a tool; it's the same for everyone, so no one gets to choose.

But, by the same token, everyone can throw a mana bolt, so everyone has a little bit of a ranged in them; bow/crossbow users have better range and don't use mana to get that reach.

As for slings as a main weapon, the GMs have agreed on "no". Your trainers would have made you pick a 'real' weapon. :3

I've a question, is using two-weapon fighting still valid? Like if someone uses a sword in their dominant hand and a dagger in their off-hand? Or weapons of equal length in either hand for that matter? And last question (I promise), what's the ruling on weapons that can be used as a melee weapon and a ranged weapon, like javelins, daggers, and axes?

Kern ruled no dual-wield. While there's room for individuality, there's some standardized training and two-weapon fighting is the kind of thing you develop on your own after achieving base proficiency.

So, short answer, no.

As for the ranged/melee thing, you get one primary weapon. If you get rid of it and don't get it back, you've just disarmed yourself possibly for the rest of the adventure.

Drow used mana arts as their backup ranged. Stick to that unless you're specced bow/crossbow as your primary weapon.

Hi, hope its okay to ask this question here, but would it be okay to create a vanir/light elf character? I mean, they're said to not be unheard of amongst the highland raider ranks (and the Nals are pretty friendly with surface dwellers themselves), and it would make sense for a surface dwelling race to offer their services as relic hunters for a living. If its not okay, may I at least know why they aren't allowed?

Thanks in advance for your time ^^

Since everyone couldn't play a vanir, nobody can.

Sorry, wasn't sure which was the best place to ask my question ^^; , I just figured vanir could be concievably found on either side & would add even more variety to the game, drowussu, drowolath, halfbreed, vanir..."shrugs"

thanks for your time though :3

A chain whip is more the kind of flashy weapon you *might* see a higher ranking Mana Specialist using, as they can afford to spend time with a weapon that has some pretty major weaknesses against armored opponents or in multiple-opponent combat as their primary purpose is mana arts, anyways.

Weapon Specialists would be required to know something a little more substantial, with more utility; see the list at the start of this thread for the weapons which are generally approved of. The same for Mana Specialists. ^^

Being an agility fighter is fine, but the weapon itself is just not an effective choice for the kind of conflict a relic hunter squad is likely to come up against, as that kind of weapon depends on its movement to provide force which limits the space it can be used in, requires teammates to give room as well, and requires concentration to maintain control of.

How do you feel about poisoned weapons? I recently gave my Mana Specialist a "Vloz'ress Kiss", three-bladed dagger, but am not sure if it's allowed to be poisoned in-game or not... (Backsotry being that my char was born a commoner, he would have no compunctions about poisoning his dagger with the most lethal crap he could come up with. Also, the nomenclature suggests that a single touch would be dangerous... I mean, would YOU want to be kissed by Kharla!?)

If not, I understand, I'll keep the poison to RP and backstory. If so, then thanks ^^
