This might be silly of me but I have never done an RP before. Creating a character or played through a campaign before still I think I have a good idea of what I'm supposed to do. While the RP forum with its newbie thread is scary massive, I have read a few pages from it. Long story short, for me is there any group that is willing to accept a newb such as myself? Secondly, as more broad term, is it possible to use the RP characters from that thread if they are associated with the Sarghress or Nal'Sarkoth and save time that way? Finally if we don't have those characters would useing the related wiki to those clans be a good resource to use when creating our Relic Hunter specific character? That's all I got for now.

Good FAQ by the way.

Hi Kite, I have the following questions...

1) can our characters be related to people from the main comic? For example, Valo is Quil'yate's grandson and Kira'liss is Kelnoz's daughter or granddaughter i think. Could my character also be descended from a Sarghress Devess or Kelnoz or Kormaril (two guys known to sleep around alot *blush* )?

2) Where should we advertize our desire to join a squad? Or are there still some new features that need to be added first to this new forumn before we can do that?

3) How detailed does our character bios need to be and where do we send them for approval?

I can answer your 2nd question. There are three ways of advertising yourself:
  • Spam in the forums;
  • Spam in the shoutbox;
  • Spam in the invites. What this means is that when you have an active character, and there are squads from the same clan, you can go to your squad page and send an "invite" to a squad, meaning that you want to join them. The squad leader can then accept or decline the invite. The invites also work the other way around. If you are a squad leader, you can invite free players (of the same clan) to your squad. Note that there are also squad size limits which affect which squads can be joined. In case you're wondering, the link to the squad page will appear on the front page when you have created and activated a character.

Two things

One:
What happened to all the old forum posts?

Two:

I need to get this sorted out.It affects most RH1 players, after all.

Since I cancelled my player account (the RH1 one) this month, in prevision for the new RH payment arrangement, downtime and changes, do I still keep squad-forming privileges?

Or does it apply just for those who were paying long after the notice you were shutting down Relic Hunters 1?

The privilege is attached to your login name. As long as you use the same login name for your new subscription, you will be fine. And if you are an old RH1 player and for some reason don't have the privilege (I might have missed somebody), just give a shout and it will be given to you. Curently it has been given to all RH1 players that have been active this year, so you should have it.

So that you know what to expect - after you have created and activated a character (note the activated part), there will be a link in the front page to the squad page. Click that, and you will get an option to create a new squad. I know, I should have made auto-activation for characters if you don't have any active character, but I was in a hurry. It's on the TODO list though. :)

One more note about squads - the names get reserved for all times. Even after you disband a squad, the name will still be reserved and you will not be able to create a new squad with the same name. So if you get the urge to experiment with creating and disbanding squads (which you can do, the more testing the system gets, the better), keep this in mind.

Here's one to the people in charge:

Is there going to be more clans available?

That's up to Kern, but since he's sleeping right now, I'll try to answer.

I think the answer is - not right away, but maybe later. Depends on how the whole thing goes. Currently it should be enough with two. If enough people show up and the whole thing gets lively enough, more clans might join in. Will see. :)

But, as I said, that's up to Kern.

If I choose to become a Brown Cloak, a melee specialist, can I still possess basic manipulation skills and an affinity? Or will I start off as being just a fighter with no mana skills at all? Same question for the white cloaks, mana specialists, can they still carry weapons and possess some degree of fighting skill?

Also, where do we send our character bios once we've created a concept for them? Should we base the format off the same one used for the regular Drowtales roleplay forumn?

last one, can mana specialists be high artists? Or must we begin with but one affinity?

Cool character creation. Is there a limit to how many characters we can make? What happens if our characters die?

Durlyn - I don't think you need to send them anywhere, just put it in the description field of the character. That's what it's for. As for the rest of your questions - I don't know.

LordPanther - There is no limit how many you create, but only one can be active. If you deactivate a character it automatically leaves the squad too. So there is little point in creating a huge stash of characters, because you will only be able to use one of them at a time. When your character dies it cannot be activated anymore. As per Kern's wishes however the character will not immediately leave the squad, it will just be unable to vote. Also the squad will be unable to progress either, because there will be only 4 active players. So you can say your goodbyes before you leave and create a replacement character. :)

Your dead characters will still show up on your character page, at the bottom of the list, so you don't forget about them and can devote yourself to melancholic memories in the long winter evenings. :)

Have you considered modifications / Deletions on character's name?

Do we get to decide on our armor design (for the Highland Raiders) or is it all standardized? What about the equipment we can use?

I'd also like to know if our armor, regardless of what clan we join, is all standardized or if we can describe in our character bios how we'd like them to look.
