Chel'el'sussoloth- Illhar'do Fortress

Chel'el'sussoloth- Illhar'do Fortress

Postby Gelorn » Fri Nov 05, 2004 12:18 am

-Description-
Built within the city among countless crystal bridges, this fortress is the exact opposite from the dark Beldrobbaen and the plain Sarghress. The Illhar'dro have made their home into a work of art, in honor to their Goddess of Creation. Sets of crystals reflect the lights from the heart of the city to within its walls. It is a very wealthy place where exotic magic lurks, but it has very few soldiers to guard it. Being hard to access and its location within the city is one of the most reasons why, even though lightly defended, the fortress has never been attacked.

-Atmosphere-
As soon as you la your eyes on the fortress you are practically stunned at the fortress's beauty. THough it may not be as richly decorated as the Sullisin'rune fortress it still looks more eligant. But as you look around you notice there is a lack of guards as compared to other fortresses, then ou remember the hill you just climed and realise why this place still stands.

Note: Same story as Vel'Sharen. Funny about that huh?

Senlaia sighted the glistening spires of her 'beloved' home. The crowd had thinned dramatically. A merchant like Zenne'khala would be unlikely to stay in the hustle of commoners, even still, Senlaia had not the first clue where to look for her. Could the merchant be already inside? Quite likely, considering she had left yesterday. But the Illhar'dro fortress was a rather large place, so..

"Hanoi? Where should we start?"

She turned, and waited for the male to catch up.

((OOC: Let's say a couple hours passed, so it doesn't seem like an Everquest time warp? Hehe, insert character now Sats!))

Hanoi walked slowly behind staring at the elegant place he muttered compliments to the place as he moved and stopped behind Senlaia and spoke quietly "If there is a small market or any such place around we shall have to look there first."

Pulling a small cloth from his cloak folds he placed it to his face and drew in a heavy breath through his nose "If we come near her I will know, those who run or hide have a smell about them" he glanced around "I apoligize but I have very little information about this fortress as I do believe I have never been employed by anyone here"

Giving a sigh he began to walk slowly in a tiny circle. "So we can go directly to the vicinity of your mother... or we can search the surounding area and the fortress closest to where we are" Han grabbed the nape of his neck and gave a little squeeze before looking at Senlaia and sniffing the cloth again.

"Market? Hmm. There is a trade for gems and precious craftmen's materials not far from here. Zenne'khala will undoubtedly be at ease, but she is easy enough to spot. Just follow the glitter.."

Senlaia stopped for a moment. She realized she had never laid eyes on the woman at all: only listened to the garbled complaints of her Mother. Nevertheless, the description had been clear enough.

"She has purple eyes, Hanoi. An uncommon color, or so I am told, for her rank. Long white hair. Come, the 'market' is not far." The musical clink of metals and the swelling of refined fluted voices told all. "This way, Hanoi. I have a feeling you may be right.."

Hanoi nodded and sniffed the air and then the cloth again "She has been this way at least, I can smell about four different similar scents though" he looked troubled "Possibly she knows we are after her and has decoys out?" he stomped with what seems a deadly wrath and rubbed his eye as it twitched he opened his mouth and spoke with dripping malice "I hate when the hunted think they will throw someone off with a decoy... milady I suggest we move hastily as the smell is getting weaker"

He gave a curt bow of his head and waited for a reply while he flipped his cloaks off willing them to fold into their pouch, he shut the pouch and adjusted the collar of his street clothes his whips now curled hanging at his side.

"Decoys? How could she possibly..-"

It just occurred to Senlaia that the merchant may have a faster means of communication than the speed at which they made it to her home. Magic perhaps? Non-battle worthy spells interested Senlaia like the crumbling rocks surrounding Chel'el'Sussoloth; needless to say, her knowledge in that area was limited.

"-..Know. Nevermind, Hanoi. Lead on. The strongest scent, if you can discern. If its leading to the market, then we know it's probably Zenne'Khala.."

But what if that is a trap as well? We know this insane merchant isn't above that sort of thing- look at her damn house. Perhaps this was only a percautionary measure.. Ah well, we shall see.

Hanoi took another large whiff of the air and pointed off towards the strongest scent "we should find her and one decoy down this way" he grabbed one of his whip loops and took of like a shot following the scent and pushing anyone un-important out of the way while he went.

Hanoi turned his head and stopped giving a quick "Hurry up would you she isn't going to wait for us" he took off again just before he heard a sucession of clicks, a crossbow bolt skipping short near his leg and the other peircing his arm and pinning him to the wall behind him. He muttered under his breath "Damn decoys"

((Careful Sats, your character needs to be able to track, so not too much blood yet! Also, the location of the other attacker I didn't mention much is entirely up to you. :)))

"Hoi!"

The sudden assault shocked the Yathrine. This really wasn't her day. "What in the name of Sharess--?"

She never got to finish. Another bolt furiously buzzed by her head, causing a trickle of blood to race down her cheek. Lucky for her, unlucky for the would-be assassin. Senlaia had no skill in ranged weapons, but the gift of Sharess would be more than enough to handle common vagabonds. Seconds later, she sent a screaming light missile towards a hostile shadow. Of course, it wouldn't do much in the way of physical damage, but the sudden heat and light would be enough to temporarily blind any drow who did not have their eyes tightly closed. Senlaia did just that, cupping her hands over her lids for insurance. She silently hoped Hanoi would have the sense to shut his eyes as well.

The muffled explosion and familiar rush of air signalled Sen to take into account the current situation. One of the would-be assassins was stumbling about, cursing in vulgar language that fitted the commoners. She aimed for a pressure point near his temple that would knock him unconscious. Her whip hissed harmlessly by the first time, but achieved its goal on the second pass. Turning, she opened her mouth to ask Hanoi the whereabouts of the second assailant when she realized he was pinned to the wall.

"Male, are you able to walk? I have no use for a wounded mercenary." she frowned, trying to keep any note that could be remotely connected to concern out of her voice. "I have some experience in basic healing. I can't close the wound, but I can purify it and stop the bleeding, if you so desire."

(Only an arm shot shouldn't interfere)

Hanoi snarled as Senlaia approached him, he grasped the bolt on the wall side and slid his arm down the shaft releasing it his first action to pull one of his knives from a boot and toss is across the way striking the uncouncious assassin squarely in the stomach, he moved off in the opposite direction his good arm cracking open a whip with a resounding snap silencing everyone around for a moment he closed his eyes and heard the light footsteps and took chase.

Swiftly catching up with the wannabe assassin who had failed their shot he flung his twin knife into the one fleeings calf and let his whip unfurl wrapping around the neck. Spinning cicles with his whip as he closed in the loops acumulated until he was pulling backwards and stepping on the assassins spine, he stood pulling well after a large snap and several small ones had occured.

Hanoi slowly walked back to his employer his blood haze lifted, he licked the knife which he had pulled from the assassins calf clean before holstering it and retrieving the twin and cleaning it on one of his folded cloaks and putting it in the adjacent boot. "Milady our little quest takes us on again" he pointed down the way again and begin walking while he tied a stip of cloth taken from the corpse around the puncture in his arm he spoke queitly back to Senlaia "and I must decline the stop of my bleeding... it's what keeps me going" he smiled boyishly as he looked at the cloth covering his newest wound.

"Excellent." muttered the Yathrine. "Lead on then, we haven't got all day." She was more alert now, attuned to the situation at hand. Thoughts of home and her mother obediently shuffled their way to the back of her mind. Zenne'Khala was paranoid. There was no doubt about that. What normal merchant would have a house booby trapped literally to death, and a security force of an Illhar'ess?

Senlaia stared hard at her accomplice. He had ceased to move, his eyes had a glassy quality to them. "Hello? Want to talk?" Receiving no reply, she nochanlantly began to walk ahead. A bolt buried itself in the space beside her. Whipping around, Senlaia wildly stared about for her hired help.

"Hanoi! Where are you?" He was gone, lost in the crowd. Senlaia knew when to leave. She would have to forget Zenne'Khala for now- despite her mother's inevitable reaction, she could not win today.

Turning, the Yathrine fled the scene. The contempuous words of her mother buzzed around her ears. "I've had enough of this!" she bellowed. Several heads flicked around to watch the enraged noble stalk down the streets.

"I'm leaving for a time now.." she affirmed. Making those very words come true, she began to head to the road to The Silent Strider. What she wanted right now was a very stiff drink, and a male to obsess with over life's enigmas.

((OOC: Corey, I am thinking interest has been lost. It's alright- I need Senlaia for another RP. I sent you an email to join, so feel free to come when you like. When I finish this new story, we can continue this one! I have gone to the Silent Strider, here.))

Zen'eir slowly made his way up the crystaline bridge, stopping to take a breather halfway across. During his break, he let the sight of the fortress soak in. The pure majesty of the sight stunned him. Allthough us Sullissin'Rune have walls of gold, it just doesn't compare to the mastery with which this place was built. A sight for sore eyes. Unfortunatly for me, it's my legs that're sore, and those walls arn't doing all that much to help...

He stood again, leaning heavily on his golden cane. After some time, and a few more breaks, he finnaly reached the front gates. Seeing but one guard, he had few options from which to choose. He approached the guard, managing a feint smile despite his total concentration on staying upright.

"Excuse me sir, I need to ask you a question. I'm representing a small group of individuals who need to travel to Val'Raveran, and I know the Illhar'dro own and maintain half the road. I need to know with whom I may speek about hiering some guards to ensure the safty of our party."

Having said that, Zen swayed a little to his left, a preemptive sighn that if he doesn't get off his legs soon, he'll finde the crystal palace rather uncomfortable colliding with his face...

The guard look at the old man for a bit before shrugging and saying "I konw who you need to talk to if you want to know how this place manages its defences and how the troops are managed but not who to speak to to hire people. Im ust a guard so the only people I have contacts with are m supperiors, unless I am guarding someoen important..."

((Zeneir's weak legs are not from age, but a back injury in his youth...))

"Ah, I see..." one of the legion of uninformed... "Then is it possible to point me twards someone who might know? I would rather not tour your beautifull city hunting blindly."

Zen prayed the guard might have seen something since he's been around. If not, then it's off to the superiors in search of more info...

((Its more a self sustaining town. And I dont know personally if the Illhar'do do hire guards or soldiers out for escort or guard duty. I might have to ask Kern if you want Illhar'do soldiers for escort duty.))

The guard scrached his chin a bit before saying "I think their maybe a merciary place near the northern side but I am not sure. I personally though havent heard anyone in my platoon being hired out for escort or guard duty, but then again it could be just me. Your welcome inside in any case..."
