Akayra woke in a start... He had had a nightmare. He dreamed he was back in the arena but he wasnt facing the veteran human he was facing a Giant Feral. he had lost the fight.... 'i think that maybe its time for a walk' he thought as he got up out of bed. He left his new damaged armour in his room, 'ill fix it some other time' he thought. He walked out with his padded leather armour on and his claymore on his back..He mindlessy starts to wander the city.

Velkhai strode through the corridors, feeling his wild rage building inside him, regardless, he managed to keep a cool visage, though his amber eyes flared angrily. How he loathed the stuck-up Vel'sharen, it was small wonder that Sillice had left them, and now he had to find a noble and report Masendriea's whereabouts.

His cloak billowed out, revealing his long, icy-blue hair and the dark-red tattoo under his left eye. The clawed gauntlets that bound his spidery fingers and the light armour that fitted so elegantly to his thin form. Maybe he could get in a good training session, though he couldn't afford to waste slaves in a Clan so small. He knew his anger held him back, it was the one thing that did so that he could change, but he couldn't see it, he was too busy angered about how his gender, his blood, his very Clan held back his potential.

"More bloody respect for a Drider out there...what good's nobility if no one acknowledges it? What good is the name Val'Beldrobbaen if no one will respect it?"

One of the few Beldrobbaen slaves came running up to Vel'khai. Averting his eyes and swallowing, the young human ventured hesitantly,

"Sir, a Durin Bergthor wishes to speak wih you. He's at the main gate. Shall I let him in, sir?"

"To see me? That sounds like a Dwarf name..."

Vel'Khai paused to think over it a second, he did so often, lapsing into silence as he thought over every possible outcome. Sighing, he leaned against the wall and pulled his cloak back around him, nodding.

"Alright...escort him to my chambers, keep an eye on him, and...don't act so timid around me, cowardice won't be tolerated in my presence"

"Yes sir," the slave said less fearfully, then scurrying off.

A few minutes later, Durin walked in, a Beldrobbaen soldier on each side.

The dwarf is obviously well off financially: he is wearing a mixture of expensive-looking, high quality clothing an armor, spider silk and adamantium, all dyed varying shades of green and black. The Nal'sar'koth clan symbol adorns his chest plate. his beard and hair are also dyed deep green.

On his back in a holster is a vicious looking crossbow with a strange gear mechanism on it, as well as a pouch resting on one hip and a two-handed doulble-bit battleaxe helsd in his right hand like a walking staff.

Durin decided it would be best to drop his usual Dwarven accent for this meeting.

"Greetings, Vel'khai Beldrobbaen. I am Durin Bergthor, currently of clan Nal'sar'koth. I have a proposition that should interest you."

"A proposition? From a Dwarf?"

This certainly was unusual, Vel'khai hadn't had many dealings outside the city, being leader of a patrol didn't allow him that chance very often. Never had he seen a Dwarf tell a Drow that he had a proposition, then again, he'd never seen a Dwarf so well off. He noted the weaponry and stared back at the Beldrobbaen guards, his eyes flaring.

"Disarm him...well Durin Bergthor, I've never been one to ignore a proposition, especially when I'm curious as to how you know my name..."

noting the Beldrobbaen guard's beginnings of movenments to disarm, Durin gave them a glare that clearly said, I'll do that myself
Pulling his crossbow out of his sheath, he placed it on a nearby table, as well as his axe and pouch of "clips" for the crossbow.

"I do a little background reaserch before I try to do things involving politics.

But anyway. The proposition."

Durin grinned.

"Thanks to aforesaid research, I am aware that you hate the Sharen clan. I loathe it with a passion, and want to se eery one of the scum dead. Thus, I knew my proposition would fall best on the ears of one like yourself. How would you like to be in on an opportunity to cripple the Sharen with minimal los of any troops the two of us mught put forth?"

"Very foreward creature aren't you, if your information was wrong, you'd have to start looking for a suitable candidate to donate you their head..."

Vel'khai never openly admitted to hating the Vel'Sharen, that went against tactical efficiency, he had to make sure he wasn't blinded by his recent insult by a particular bearer of that name.

"A Dwarf and a Beldrobbaen taking the Sharen? Can't be done, I only have control over a select regiment of troops and the guards currently training for the position...even if you're part of the Nal'sar'koth Clan, that doesn't add much to our chances...I'm not a simple-minded Sarghress or any such thing, you'll need better reason than that..."

leaning over and placing his elbows on the table, fingers in a steeple, the Dwarf grinned.

"Oh, but I have one.

I have recently been informed by a reliable source that a subhouse of the Sharen is breaking off, and thus the remaining Sharen are sending out a force to crush the deserters.

Obviously, this means the Sharen clan has split and is fighting amongst himself.

Now. What we can do," said the dwarf, "is play both ends against the middle. Act a double-agent. I'll keep to one party, you keep to the other. You inform me of your half's weaknesses by messenger, I do the same with mine. If we are smart, we can make these two forces kill each other off completely, leaving the Sharen clan minus quite a substantial amount of their forces."

((well, this is going to mean quite a bit more work for me, me being the one GMing this little subhouse break RP, but I'll accomodate somehow, I'll update the PM info, and send it out.))

((and while I'm here...))

there was a knock on the door, a servant walked in and placed a sheet of paper on the desk, explaining it.

"bounties have been put out by the Sharen, they're being sent to everyone in charge of a platoon, in every clan, sorry to bother you m'lord."

the servant left in a hurry, on the desk was the bounty notice.

"wanted: Dead or Alive, for the sum of 5000 ada. Durin Bergthor, charged for assault on a Sharen noble in the fulfillment of his duty."
the message was accompanied with a striking image of Durin, at least it could be said that the artist had gotten his good side.

Vel'khai looked up briefly at the arrival of the servant, staring unblinkingly as he placed the sheet down and left. Sighing, he took it and leaned back in his chair, reading the brief note before looking over the picture, his eyes flickering to Durin as he grinned. With a wave of his hand the door shut and the aura lock activated, only him or his platoon could leave or enter.

"It seems you've already made an enemy of the Vel'Sharen Clan, do you expect me to do this myself? You'll have to cough up some Ada for me to not just turn you in right now..."

He leaned forward again and put the bounty note before the Dwarf, cracking his knuckles testily before crossing his legs.

"You did get something right, I am smart...if there's an easier way to make more money I'll take it, this is suddenly smelling like a trap Bergthor...however, convince me that you can do your part and give me my sum, and I'll let you leave here alive..."

Durin's eyes grew hard as granite, and his voice took on the aspect of barely controlled anger.

"The Sharen clan has been my enemy since they massacred my village and took my sister captive, twenty years ago. If our lives had been reversed, you would have done the same thing that creep Ulnan had apparently posted me for. Such things are either felony, stupidity, or heroism, depending on your point of view.

I do not normally give out money all that freely, so don't espect to get so much so easily next time. Here, this should be satisfactory."

Producing a large moneybag from somewhere on his person, the dwarf remmoved 1,000 ada and set it on the middle of the table, then replaced the moneybag.

"To avoid your being caught working with me, I shall work under a disguise with a false name. If we are discovered, you should be able to bluff your way out of troulble by saying that you were tricked by me. "

Catching Vel'Khai's look of amazement that someone would go to such lengths to protect a complete stranger, Druin chuckled.

"Hah. You see, elf, a Dwarf's mind works a little differently than that of your average Drow noble. I do not seek to use or trick those around me, and I plot no drow's downfall save members of the Vel'Sharen.

I have come to you in complete honesty. But of course you smell a trap. You have been taught to do so, for your own safety, I'm sure, though such suspicion has no place here. I have no ill intent towards any in this room, even any in this complex."

"Five thousand is a larger sum than one thousand...I expect the rest when my work is done, if we're captured, I will do my own negotiating"

Vel'khai leaned back again, eying the Ada before grabbing a pouch for it off his belt and sweeping the coins from the table. He frowned at the Dwarf's short speech, he knew they weren't as good with words as several Drow so such a thing surprised him, but he smiled at the end of the speech. He stood and turned to look out the ledge, gazing across the glimmering lights that made up the Underworld.

"There is no such thing as heroism, or villainy, Dwarf...I harbour ill will towards the Sharen because they have no respect for any other names in this city, Sillice was right to leave them, even if she was dull enough to join the Sarghress...I can't know whether or not you're trustworthy, you're asking me to gamble my life on your worth...that's the game I enjoy playing the most! But remember, I count betrayal as disrespect, betray me and I will get out of it alive, and I'll come for you Dwarf...even a creature so adapted to this terrain cannot run from me..."
