Chel'el'sussoloth: Val' Beldrobbaen Fortress [Public]

As Kalandrin reiterated her point, Dristin noticed she was biting her thumbnail, looking a bit like a child being scolded (which she was). "I hope that doesn't become a habit." she thought to herself. "It's so unbecoming of a lady." So preoccupied with her thoughts was she, that the old lady's touch startled her. Kal gave her a little speech about how nice it was to be a drider. She always did this, this eight-legger pride thing. As if there was something wrong with the Drowolath race.

Dristin looked down, her hands shook a little. For a moment she was silent, until she opened her mouth, letting out a growl-like hiss (or a hiss-like growl). Drops of saliva mixed with venom fell to the floor. The young girl turned towards the older woman, her face now locked in an expression of irrational rage, and swiped her right hand in her direction.

((Silly little girl. Old drider knights are far more experienced than you :V))

"Yay! Bathy time!"Ziffy twitched her ears in approval, her mood swinging back to her cheery self. However, it wasn't to last. Feeline a spike of emotions in Dristin's direction, Ziffy jerked her head towards the other driderling, her face turning into a worried look"huh? Are you okay, Drisdi? Relax, please!" She said, as she hurriedly stepped in front on her.

Kalandrin blinked at the sound of the hiss; it was an alarming sound, a firm warning that something was wrong. She never quite expected the situation to move so quickly towards this direction, and she quickly turned to give her full attention at Dristin's direct. The Waelinider's right hand swiped at Kalandrin's direction, and Kalandrin tried to catch it and immobilise her before she caused any harm, but then Ziffy stepped up in the front. The knight blinked in pure surprise, and tried to pull the empath back.

"...Dristin, calm down... Everything is alright..." Kalandrin called for her. "Ziffy, step away, I don't want you to get hurt" she added and tried to claim her position back in the front. She hadn't seen clearly but that swipe could have hurt Ziffy badly if she didn't watch out, and the only thing Kalandrin could do at this point was immobilise the Waelinider if she had to; she were no empath but a warrior instead, and this was what she knew how to do best. "Take a breath honey, calm down... Dristin... I know you're there, you're the one in control..."

Ziphaenarla took a step back, her eyes growing wide as she begun to grasp what was happening. Kalandrin was trying to restrain the maddening waelinider. Her condition had deteriorated slightly, no doubt this was ... one of the many breakdows a drider could suffer. It was not too late, however, and Ziffy knew exactly what to do. Clenching her first, she jerked upright and advanced in cautious measured steps. Looking at Kalandrin, a serious frown appeared in her face.

I can do this. No. I need to do this before anyone gets hurt.

Taking yet another step, she positioned in front of the couple, tensed by the closeness of the now maddening drider. "Hold her still, big sis." She said, an uncharacteristical serious tone. Slowly her right hand advanced towards the waelinider's forehead, two fingers touching the middle of it."It is okay." She said, building up her empathy. "You are safe." She clenched her teeth, herself feeling the backflow of Dristin's turbulent thoughts. "Relax. Sleep." She said, her whole being focused in quenching the raving brain into a semi-sleeping state. She just hoped things did go well. At worst both she and Dristin could be greatly hurt by the backfire.

Dristin woke up, or at least it seemed that way. At the same time she also felt her heart pounding and her breathing heavy, as if she just had been exercising. As if these two conflicting states weren't confusing enough, she could see four people in front of her. A party? Did she pass out and embarrass herself in front of all these people? Oh Sharess no! Luckily for her, her double vision cleared; she only looked like a fool to half that amount. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" she wanted to say, but the most she could utter was: "Buh... wuh...?"

Slowly her brain started to recognize the two others. The big one: Kalandrin, merchant, soldier, nice when you get to know her. The other... Foolish, childlike, naive. "Ziffy..!" Both of them were driders, and... so was she. What were they doing anyway? Ziffy was touching her forehead, while Kal held her by her arm. "Lemme go..."

What had happened here?

The rest happened in a flash. When Ziffy approached, Kalandrin wanted to shout "Get back you fool! You might get hurt!" but she quickly remembered the girl was an empath. As such, with some of her martial expertise, she quickly immobilised Dristin -no easy feat even for her- and tried to keep her from harming Ziffy as the Ne'kalsaider priestess came uncomfortably close.

The Ne'kalsaider knight held the Waelinider painfully tightly. She did not want to take any chances. And yet she could feel the other drider's strength. She was almost an adult, and she had a gladiator background not much unlike herself. Harsh training, to be honest. She only relaxed the grip when Dristin spoke, and even then, she didn't let go of her completely. "Dristin? Are you okay?" she asked with suspicion, trying to balance a tight grip without inflicting pain on her anymore.

Ziphaenarla's frow relaxed upon spotting Dristin's usual visage. "Thanks Sharess... It worked". Ziffy nursed her throbbing temples with her other hand reeling so slightly. Images of pain had leaked into her mind, the backslash of ever attempting to play with someone's else mind."I had to use my power to stabilize your min...." She stopped mid-sentence, her stomach convulsing. Reeling even more, she flexed her torso forward, her front legs. She gasped, gagging.

And finally it came.

"BUERK!"

She threw up, a bitter ichor clumped with the bedsheet bits she had eaten earlier. She was still weak from her previous empathic healing, and the wild backslash from the maddened form of Dristin did not help.

Still not sure of what had happened, Dristin heard Kal ask her if she was fine. "Yes, I..." Before she could complete her sentence Ziffy interrupted her, stating that "it" had worked. The girl then went on to explain that she had used her power to stabilize Dristin's mind. She didn't actually manage to finish that last sentence, because that's when it happened.

Ziffy convulsed, gagged, and...

"Uuuu... Drider vomit..." said Dristin as she instinctively raised her front legs, and took a few steps back. The smell reached her nose. "Is there a window around here?" She wasn't aware yet that she was deep within the Beldrobbaen fortress.

Kalandrin rolled her eyes with dissatisfaction. "Uh... Not good..." she muttered in disappointment and dislike. At least Ziffy should be better after this, but still... First the noise, now vomiting. She sighed. "Go ahead and have a bath. It's the first door on the right. Make sure you keep it quiet and don't get everything outside the water pool wet, okay?" she commanded. She sighed again. "I'll, uh... get this cleaned..." she admitted in disappointment, guiltily.

And with that, she took off to get the gear she needed.

A New Arrival...

Postby blackshade10 » Fri Jan 15, 2010 1:24 am

Zephyr'arub quietly walked down the already-silent halls of the Val'Beldrobbaen fortress, his soft silk shoes giving only the slightest of patter against the stone floor. He had just left the library, a book tucked underneath his arm, his eyes seemingly focusing on nothing, lost in thought. Zephyr was bored, as usual, in the fortress. Excusing the occasional eventful suitor that would break his peace and quiet, there really wasn't much to do at the fortress.

The book tucked underneath his arm was an old Light Elf text he'd found buried in the library. Likely bought on a whim by the original owner, it was in an old language that he'd recently gotten the hang of reading. He'd hope something interesting would be in it's pages, if just to distract him.

"By Sharess, I need a hobby..." He said miserably, hanging his head in an almost comedic fashion.

Bren was alone in one of the training rooms in the Beldrobbaen fortress, borrowing three dozen of the practice throwing knifes left in the storage room. He started to throw them, the target today was a classic nameless black figure, hands out to the side leaving a heart shaped target open.

He was fresh from a visit his mother and regretted it. Like every other time he does so, the argument they got into could be heard down halls in the quite day. He vented out his anger at the target with his knifes, rather then pent it up inside and let it get in the way of his work.

She piratically blames him for that tragic event at the orb and he doesn't understand why.

His accracy was a little down but he didn't miss it, at least not yet. The heart target filled up with knives, *thock* *thock* went the knives. When there were no spots left for the heart, he then started to move them to the neck, arms and groin.

Goddess he hopped a mission would come his way so he could keep his mind off of his own troubles.

Aleiryn training rooms were particularly bulky by drow standards; Kalandrin liked that. After all, this sub-house of the Val'Beldrobbaen was noteworthy mostly for its number of drider knights, both Vals as well as mercenaries or adoptives like Kalandrin herself. Driders needed a lots of space to feel comfortable - and Kalandrin felt comfortable alright. Having donned her full plate and mail armour and taken the full array of her heavy weapons, she rested her massive two-handed mace on her right shoulder and paid a visit to the main training room.

There should be nobody around here at this time, she figured. Lady Vals had better things to do, even among the somewhat militarised Aleiryn. This was a good opportunity to maim some dummies and practice at shock charges, then have their cost deducted from her pay and smile about it. Kalandrin could afford such financial penalties, and she was almost commonly subject to them in times of frustration of boredom. She was the kind of rich poor person after all: so rich, she could afford being poor.

She had money alright. Thousands of ada, centuries' worth of savings. But unlike Lady Vals of the Beldrobbaen, Kalandrin didn't need to buy clothes, expensive furniture of show off her wealth like that. She was making clothes and makeshift furnitures by herself thanks to her spider-silk. Her main expenditures were arms- and food-related, too; from a certain point on, her profits had become so much more than her expenditures, that money had completely lost value to her. Her little hoard had more money and less luxury than anyone else's around here, for all she knew.

She opened the door with a proficient move from her front right leg and walked in casually, whistling. The clanking of armour had made her noticeable throughout much of the surrounding space -corridors, rooms, or whatever- and, considering how often she was in armour, it was her signature sound. She might be among the few people of this house that were in full armour even off-duty. Some had made her a fool out of it, but she didn't care. Practising with such heavy weights was vital in keeping her strength at a developing level, rather than simply maintained or something. The latter might spell the end of her career as a warrior in a small world where her life was at the lowest of lows, surrounded by Ladies and Lords Val whilst being an elevated commoner.

The sight of a male drowolath figure throwing things at one of the dummies made Kalandrin arch her eyebrows beneath her helmet. "Greetings, Lord Val" she hailed politely. "I did not mean to interrupt your training. I shall take my leave" she said, offering a soft bow as she stared at the unusual weapons. Throwing daggers. You didn't see them in the hands of Aleiryn everyday - this guy must have links to the intelligence division of the house, she thought, and waited for instructions at her place.

Bren was prying the knives out the dummies, when he heard metal armor jingling muffled in the hall somewhere. His senses always had to be alert in his line of work but he carried on with his business, throwing the knives without much worry of any real danger in his house.

He saw the drider open the door. He hopped it was his father, Bren always had a deep desire to meet the man but had little time to seek him out. But alas it wasn't him. The metal clad drider Greeted him "Greetings, Lord Val" she hailed him politely. "I did not mean to interrupt your training. I shall take my leave". Bren was taken back a little, he didn't intend to hog the whole training area to himself.

"Greeting Sergeant Kalandrin" He returned the hail politely but softly. Bren was a soft spoken man and usually quite, he didn't come off rude, arrogant or irritated. "There is plenty of room for the two of us." His hand instinctively touched his left arm. "I would not hog the training room to myself, nor would I kick a fellow clansmen out of it.".

Bren thought for a moment and saw all those large weapons she had "If your looking for more room, I could just move to the far end?" Bren was willing to adjust to keep both parties happy.
