Surface: Swords of Wolf Vally (Privet)

Gaul nodded at Tae and continued to approach the wagon. Four larger forms where hidden under the snow, probably frozen horses he thought. He knocked on the door and asked in halm "Hello? is anyone alive?". He didn't get a reply right away, but he did hear somebody move. "Hello? is anyone alive?" he asked in drow this time and still didn't get a reply.

Focusing his mana vision again, he watched the form move again. The way the tainted aura moved, she or he was probably reaching for a weapon of some kind. He didn't like the though of going in, somebody who could survive a blizzard and move well enough was a sturdy and resilient mother fucker; somebody Gaul didn't want to go in straight after, too risky in such tight quarters.

He couldn't set the damn wagon on fire either, too wet... Taking a few steps away from wagon, Gaul waved Tae to go around. "I hear you in there Ebonmar scum. Come out and die with some dignity or lay in there like a child and die from being smoked.", That got who ever's attention, as the door was kicked open from the inside.

Serra'tae moved into a flanking position. As the door was kicked open, Serra'tae pulled back his non-sword arm. A figure rushed through and Serra'tae whipped his arm forward, clotheslining the individual and causing him to fall back with a gurgle of pain.

"Stand down, whoever you are," said Serra'tae, pointing his sword down at the male lying in the snow. "We will have to kill you, and I would prefer to do this as civilly as possible."

Thobias knew he was beaten the moment it took all he had to get out of the carriage. He laid there on his back and watched the sky and how soft it looks from down here... and he wonder what was worth coming up here as the butt end of a spear pieced his neck.

* * *

Gaul twisted the sarouter or 'Lizard sticker' in deep into the Ver'drowendar neck, causing him to choke for a moment but it was all ended with a twist of his spear.

The Olath looked tried even in death Gaul thought to himself as he sealed his neither and looked at Tae "Take look around and take what ever ada, gold or whatever you please." He said as he yanked out the spear with a soft gush. "The Sharens and their cohorts wont be needing it any more."

He ducked into the carriage and rummaged through it. Flipping over what could only be the protector twin, he found a bag of ada with roughly filled with gold and ada. He also found a map and some books on Sharen family history. Something worth keep he guessed.

(Up dated pilgrim to the surface too)

Pon'i's face showed no emotion, but he was really glad he wasn't able to see the man getting killed. How does one kill someone civilly? Kyorls. He liked them and trusted them, to an extent, but was never able to fully comprehend his grayskinned cousins. Times like this he was glad he wasn't able to comprehend them.

Thun was tense. He stroked her gently, trying to be calm yet alert. He didn't see or hear anything other than the wind in the trees, but Thun refused to calm down. "Gaul?" he asked calmly. "I think she smells something..." he looked over his shoulder. She was bristling at a bush, her little nose sniffing. "Is there a human or something over there?"

Gaul was leaving the carriage when Poni called him. He never considered the chance that something or someone might have been following them; he was out of his elements after all. "Poni get in the carriage." Gaul said as he stepped away from the from it and picked up his spear, he stuck in the ground moments earlier, standing at attention and waiting to be used.

What ever was out there, Thun's reactions was good enough for him. "Drop what your doing Tae. We may want to look into this first."

Just behind those bushes are the wolves of 'Mountain man' Arkady. Wolves that were taken in from beginning as their mother died from giving them birth. They Waited for their masters word to strike.

Serra'tae had managed to find a spare crossbow, loaded, when Gaul had called him over. The manner of execution had been unceremonious, not precisely what Serra'tae preferred, but it was swift and comparatively painless.

"Sir," said Serra'tae, holding his sword at guard, 45 degrees in relation to the ground, and stood beside his commander. "What are your orders?"

Pon'i didn't need to be told twice. He silently dismounted (getting off was easier than getting on!) and climbed into the carriage, nimbly stepping over the freshly killed. He didn't look at the man's face.

Ugh, there was another one in the carriage. Pon'i winced. Thun wasn't doing much better here, and he felt oddly exposed. He guessed it was because there was no place to hide in here, just some nice plush cushions and a blanket or two.

He set Thun down and gently pulled the blanket over the protector twin's face. It wasn't much, but it was something. As he did, he realized that Gaul had only killed one person. What was a dead man doing in this carriage?

Thun had vanished under a pile of pillows, and Pon'i wished he was small enough to join her as he observed the goings on outside. Nothing was happening yet...

As Poni entered the carriage, Gaul closed the door behind propped a body up against it to keep it closed. It was then he saw them. Wolves, and not the Sarghress either but the smaller larger dog sized ones. Thank goddess for that. "Kill'em." was all Gaul had to say to Tae.

Their ears were flat as they approached, they started off slow but the closer they got the quicker the moved. Gauls Horse 'Black Pot' was a little more stubborn then most horses; he should be, Gaul made sure he brought with him a battle capable horse to the surface. Black pot Kicked and bit at the wolves that got too close and tried to surround him.

Gaul had to act before he lost his horse. Kicking up snow as he charged, Gaul's spear sliced into one of the grey wolves. Falling the beast before it had time to react.

Unknown to Gaul was the mountain man who led this pack. Slowly making his way around to come at the drows backs. Camouflaged and wielding a crude but sturdy ax in his hands.

Serra'tae wasn't mounted, but that wouldn't be a problem. He always had been a support unit more than he was a frontline unit.

As Gaul advanced, spear piercing through the wolves with ease, Serra'tae followed behind, hacking and slashing with his sword at any wolves that got past Gaul. While there was no doubt that his superior could fight off the wolves alone, Serra'tae knew that Templars and Wardens always worked better in teams, coordinating purges rather than going about willy nilly in a fanatical craze.

Suddenly, the quiet sound of a well concealed foot displacing snow gave Serra'tae pause. He broke open the chest of a wolf and fell into a guard, stilling his breath as he listened carefully with the experience of a practiced rear-guardsman.

"GAUL!!" he shouted, whirling to ready position as he realized they were being flanked by someone large, heavy, and lethal.

"BEHIND US!!"

Pon'i watched the attack on the wolves - he had never seen any that small. He guessed they were still dangerous.

Watching his friends dispatch the animals was different from watching them kill drow, and Pon'i found himself enjoying the show, to a certain extent. There was a grace to it, no wasted movement of man or weapon, a deadly but beautiful dance. But when Tae called out, Pon'i caught a chill that had nothing to do with the snow outside. Part of him hoped that he hadn't made a movement to distract the warriors from the real danger. Part of him desperately hoped that the wolves were truly the real danger.

He held his breath.

"BEHIND US!!" was all the warning Gaul had to turn and raise his shield to block the descending axe. Gauls arm went numb from the impact and a loud ringing noise rang out from the shield as if somebody was hitting a gong. Gaul stabbed back with his spear, catching only tuffs of hide as the giant stepped back and dodged his attack.

Pressing forward into the large human. Gaul refused to allow him to lay another blow like that on him. But the snow was too deep and soft, the fighters only sank into one another. A black wolf came up from behind the drowssus and bit him hard on his arm. The bite down only proved to be too much for the wolf as the chain mail only dulled and broke some of his teeth.

The wolf let go of his arm only to come back at him again snapping with his bloody maw. Gaul stabbed his 'Lizard sticker' back, catching the side of the wolf, causing it yelp and back off, and rethink on his attack on the black knight.

Serra'tae whirled again. Damn, he'd mis-judged the distance. The enemy was already on them and he didn't have the skills or experience to take down an axeman in the fucking snow.

"Gaul, I'll take the wolves!!' Serra'tae shouted, flinging a mana bolt at the axe man's feet and running past, cleaving the black wolf's leg off with a casual swing and using his weapon's momentum to chop into and through an oncoming gray wolf's chin. The animal gagged before a thrust upwards pierced its brain. Spinning his weapon, Serra'tae flung the carcass off and settled into a flexible defensive stance, ready to slide left or right to keep any wolves from getting past him to attack Gaul.

"Come on, bitches and whores!" he growled at the oncoming beasties. "I am Serra'tae Kyorl'solenurn, Templar of the Kyorl'solenurn Clan. Submit to the holy will of the Goddess and die beneath my blade!!"

((incidentally, this is the perfect opportunity for Gaul to roll his eyes and say something about stupid younglings and their penchant for dramatic speeches))

Was Tae really making a dramatic monologue... to animals?

Pon'i was otherwise frozen, teeth gritted, numbly hoping his friends would be OK. Gaul was a seasoned fighter, he reminded himself. But that gong-like sound hurt his ears, and he was fairly sure it made Gaul's arm feel worse. Aside from whipping the air around, he couldn't really do anything... so he waited, feeling stupid and helpless.

Even in the mist of fighting this giant, Gaul couldn't help but feel his eyes roll at Sarra'tae's speech. Sarghress kid, really? was all he could mumble to himself before the giant came forward with his axe again, poking and prodding, trying to get past his shield, pushing him back.

The large axe suddenly went low for his leg, grazing his right leg and raking the chain mail, causing him to nearly trip in the loose snow. The Drowssus struck back, his spear striking the giant side painfully. The black wolf behind him returned with a vengeance, nipping and bitting his sore right leg, and seemingly less deterred from his spear this time.

Fighting in the snow was unfamiliar and too deep for Gaul to keep up his footing, and it cost him dearly. Slipping to one knee, the wolf bit down on his shield arm and pulled it back, even with its broken and bloody teeth. The Giant thinking he had a kill, raised his axe to strike, only to double over with a howl as Gauls black spear stabbed deep between his legs.

Shaking off the giant's wolf pet with hard hit from his shield. Gaul dropped his spear leapt and on to the giant, stabbing him with a dirk. The Giant ceased to give up, throwing all manner punches and gurgled curses at him even as the dirk gleamed and dripped dark with his blood and his neck squirting with three different holes. The Giant only ceased to move as the dirk struck home, entering the right eye and dug right down to the hilt deep, spliting his eye socket and almost to the back of his head.

The first wolf that charged had several milliseconds to ponder upon the folly of this decision as its skull was split open, spilling brains onto the snow. The second and third wolf charged together; Serra'tae swung his blade like a bat, smacking the flat of his blade into the nearer of the two before rolling the hilt in his hand and chopping the third wolf's head off. The second wolf got back to its feet just in time to receive an armored boot to the head, cracking its skull, before a second swing cleaved its torso, spilling intestines and sending up a horrid stench.

Serra'tae looked up, searching for more enemies, in time to see Gaul get hauled backwards by the missing-a-leg wolf.

Sharess damn it, the damn things were pesky. Serra'tae ran towards the fight, weapon poised, and threw his entire body into a stab that went through the opposite side of the wolf. As he fell, he saw Gaul shank the Axe Man in the eye, piercing through to the back of the skull.

Picking himself up, Serra'tae returned to a flexible defensive stance, ready to smite any incoming enemies.

((Are there anymore wolves?))
