The Surface: D'ulkunde (private)

“But, sir, I don‘t--” It was too late to protest, the commander had made up his mind and was already heading away from the exit. Hindrvitni gave the others a clearly annoyed looked, but followed after the commander. “Sir, it wouldn’t be wise to endanger--” Her mouth fell agape in disgust at the thing crawling out of the shadows.

From what could be gathered from the figures mangled outfit it was a Nal’sarkoth stalker female. Her hair was a tangled mess with large chunks missing from a number of places leaving only bloody sores. A mouth filled with chipped teeth contorted into a screaming ‘o’, but the only noise that spilled forth sounded like the woman’s vocal cords had been sliced up with a cheese grater. She continued to crawl forward, clutching a torn up ear in one hand; a hand who’s nails hung from their place as if they had been pulled backwards. Moving one stained hand she raked her fingers down her cheek…one of the nails tore loose and fell to the floor.

When the Commander gave the order to investigate the noise. Trinita for once in a long time Hesitated, "Sir, I agre-"

Trinita eyes almost pop out of his head at the sight of this... Monstrosity. He never saw demons in the Nidraa'chal war but this thing looked like the thing in the horror stories he heard. It was hard for Trinita to keep her nerve and in control watching this... Nal’sarkoth looking thing crawl and fall apart in front of him.

What ever it was Trinita wasn't going to let it make the first move. Trinita drew his hand cross bow with his free hand and shot at it.

"Bloody Vlozz'ress invasion all over again!" Durlyn cursed at the sight of the slithering beast that had emerged from the shadows and wore the colors of the Nal'sarkoth.

He wasted no time in lighting a spark with his lighter and using his mana to transform it into a ball of flame which he now launched toward the beast, intent on incinerating it long before it got anywhere near him and his comrades.

"Anyone got sealing gems on them?" he asked aloud, never taking his eyes off his hideous target.

Vithar quickly brought his sword to bear as the twisted abomination stepped out into infrared view. "No..." grunted Vithar in response to Durly's query. Sometimes, it was better to listen to one's gut feeling on things. This particular instance appeared to have become a textbook situation of such.

"Retreat to the exit!" bellowed Vithar as he attacked the twisted monster with a mana blast, before he swung his sword at it's forelimbs in an attempt to cripple it and buy them time to escape. It had been some time since Vithar had last seen a nether demon, and facing one down was far from an experience that he wanted to repeat, at least not without the aid of sealers.

((Sorry for the late post. Access issues.))

Tallau'wa responded to Maria's comment about paranoia with, "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you." That was before she heard the scream, before she saw the abomination that crawled out of the shadows.

She froze.

Inwardly, she shouted at herself, Move! Shoot it, run, fire a mana blast at it, SOMETHING! But she couldn't. She simply hadn't seen anything like this before. She was held captive by a strange, morbid fascination with this creature that once had been a drow... until Vithar's shout to retreat snapped her back into the moment. She furiously backpedaled and fired at the same time, and if someone had been very close and been listening very hard, then they might have heard something that sounded like, "Thank you." But no one could possibly have been so close... she hoped.
