Val'Raveran | The Bazaar

There hadn't been many sales today, business wasn't going too well. Rilla sighed as she started packing up her wares for the day. She'd taken to selling wooden pendants and colourful shawls as well as her plants recently. A boy ran up and yelled at her, waving a bundle of dead flowers and a sealed note. She ripped the note open and groaned, sitting down on an empty crate.

"Bloody vals." she growled. "Who returns flowers! Let alone asks for their ada back."

She glared at the child and snapped at him to buzz off before pushing her hair out of her eyes. It had been a long long day. She aimed a kick at him when he persisted. It connected and he screamed and burst into tears he clutched at his knee. Damn, her new boots had sharp metal studs. Heads turned, whispers started.

"Oh this is going to do wonders for my reputation." she muttered. "I can just hear the rumours starting." In an hour they'd probably be saying there was a monstrous green-haired child killing maniac running a flower stall, who'd rip off their legs for fun.

The boy scrambled off weeping, limping and hopping away. Rilla barely noticed as she wiped the blood off her boot.

"Well, well, well. Long time no see Rilla." Mae said as her shadow loomed over Rilla, watching her clean her boot.

Fresh from the surface, Mae looked a little dusty and travel worn. Her latest trip wasn't the best time shes had on the surface and is arguably the longest.

"You look a little down, life not treating you well?"

A familiar voice startled her from her thoughts

"Mae!" she exclaimed looking up in surprised delight and dropping the rag she cleaned her boots with "It's been a while. And no not really. I made a business deal with a Sul which fell apart a few months ago. Blasted Val had no business sense." she grumbled, but Mae didn't need to deal with her problems too, no doubt she had enough of her own to worry about.

She got up and leaned against the stall "Been treasure hunting on the surface?" She asked in a lighter tone "Your clothes suggest it, and you have that tired look about you."

"Well that's shitty, I'm sorry to hear that." Mae said as she clasped Rillas on the shoulder "Come on, I'll buy dinner. We got some catching up to do." She was in a good mood today and felt like doing something nice.

"I've had a long trip and hard trip comming back here, and I plan to spend a few days relaxing."

"That sounds nice, but I'll have to pack up first and drop the goods off at home, or people will pinch it while I'm gone." Rilla answered her cheerfully.

'Guess this day isn't so bad after all, it's nice meeting old friends' she thought as she packed up the rest of her crates. "Just going to fetch the cart I'm renting. It's just around the corner."she skipped around a nearby building and disappeared from sight.

Her cart was well... tiny, only just big enough to hold her things, which was around 6 cratesworth and a couple of large bags. It was pulled by a rather sickly looking reptile. Rilla was leading it on foot.

(Rilla I pmed you)
Mae grew a bit of a smile seeing Rilla's steps lighten up. Life seemed to be hard on every one these days, word was from Chel things are getting worse. Sometimes Mae appreciated the life she had, her family was rough but she never had a hungry night in her life.

Following Rilla, they dropped the cart and lizard off and headed off to find some place to eat. "Where do you want to go? I don't feel like eating at the white lion today. I wanna do something original."

"Well I heard there's a good brothel around the corner." Rilla'me suggested jokingly. before making more serious suggestions. "Alternatively there's a place not far off called The Purple Berry where they have good food and excellent wine, it's a bit pricey though. Or there's a pub nearby, I forget the name, Or you know, we could wander round 'til we find something we like the look of."

She smiled at her little wolf friend. "Meeting old friends again is good isn't it. Especially right now. Things are just going downhill everywhere you go." She chuckled at the phrasing. She lived underground for goodness sake.

((Huh, making up names is somehow difficult today... I guess I'm just tired.))

"A brothel? You in the mood to get some today?" Mae played along with her joke with a sly grin.

"The Purple Berry it is. If only because it reminds me of the sweets fruit you can find on bushes on the surface and you need something lift you up a bit." Mae didn't mind going to more expensive places every now and again. If only because she never nows when she may never get another chance.

After some searching around, they found the restaurant. "It looked like a clean place to eat. Cleaner then the place I was for a few weeks on the surface, ever been on a ship on the deep pond before?"

"The deep pond? No can't say that I have. Sounds like fun though. The service here is excellent too." Rilla replied as she pushed the door open. A handsome male drowolath showed them quickly to their seats bowing politely and offering the menu.

""Hmmm, something spicy I think. Which one of these sauces should I choose... How about you Mae?" She asked as she scanned the menu, her mouth watering.

The menu had a lot of different types of dishes but the spicy foods were the most prominent to Rilla's eyes. She tried to remember whether the little Sarghress liked spicy foods but came up with an I don't know. Not that it mattered really. There was plenty to choose from. Even dishes with the type of berries Mae had mentioned before.

"Good and if you ever find yourself having the chance, I can say going on a boat ride." The though almost made her stomach grumble again from sea sickness.

She pushed the thought aside as they were seated. "Spicy foods? nah, I never cared for food that doesn't want to go down easy. Lets get some blue berries for a starter."

Mae looked at the menu and tried to make out head from tail. Like most peasants, she didn't learn how to read and write until a later age. She could read but the writings was a little too fancy for her. "I guess I'll take steak, Its something you can get a little easier up top but I like the way people cook it down here sometimes."

When the waiter came back, they ordered their food and Mae started telling Rilla the story she had on the surface. *See long voyage home*

Re: Val'Raveran | The Bazaar

There was the thrum. A nearly steady beat. That moved, slow and timed. Quick and alive in the market. A hum of words, a bartering, baiting, nagging, nattering mess of noise. Not to mention the movement, an endless sea of it. Shifting figures, quick fingers tots, and wide eyed newcomers that bump the busy workers as they rushed about their task and tents. Yes, Val'Raveran was one very big, very noisy, annoyance. Sik'sani was so tired of it all.

"If ye are goin' to loiter about me shop like that, ye can at least wave the fan."

Sik turned and stared straight into the eyes of the vendor. It was a scarred mess of a face pinch in places that it shouldn't be currently filled with an near absents of warmth, but there was a familiar set to it. One that made her confident enough to smile a generous smile and say, "No."

The potato vendor merely raised a broken eyebrow and then swattered at her nose with his fan, before he went back to work muttering, "Ye lot not learned a bit. How a good set person markin' their way with ye'll loitering about."

"No one is turning away your business. In fact you've done more with me being here, than you have in the last two days," she smirked at him, clasping the eaves of the stalls roof.

"Oh and I guessin' ye know this bit from...?"

"Why, sire, I wouldn't be me if I didn't keep taps on ya. After all, who gives me discounts like you?"

He snorted and she chuckled, then he asked, "Well, if ye can't be of help than buy somat more will ye?"

"Oh, but I have and I shan't buy anymore. You've got enough my good ada already," she retorted with mocking stiffness shifting back to leaning against one of the post for the roof. Glancing around the crowd street, she took in life blood of the city. Rumors of unrest, rumbling about a bunch of green horn Kyorl's making a mess in the Slaver's Den, the talk of trade coming and going, common talk of the surface and what lay beyond the gates. "I believe I have made a fine investment. Plus, I'm just waiting for them to darken. Like 'em better that way. Don't you want to save some of them for those that are part of the returning mass of surface goers."

"Oi truthful enough, still...ye hearin' that news too. Ah well, it were bound to out what with all the lack of acts bout the city. Though ye'd think them busymouths would have better than to tell of such false tales. Oi here!" He handed her her order. Once firmly in her hands he returned to to waving his fan, while Sik waved her food on a stick around trying to cool it. Taking a caution bit, she winced at the heat and went back to waving it around.

"It's all anyone wants to talk about truths or not, really. They'll be flooding the market soon enough...and then...well, then you'll have get more business, they will have new tales and I'll get more headaches," she muttered glancing down at her food on a stick as the vendor gave a short chuckle. Taking another bit, she settled and once took in the thrumming hum of annoyance that was Val'Raveran Bazaar. Though now her mind wasn't entirely there, it stead if was off wondering about the land above her head what had managed to trickle down from up there this time.

Its been a long day already for Trinita. Hes had three long surgeries hes assisted in and their clean ups. He sure was hungry. He didn't have his usual highland raider armor on; instead he wore just some plain clothing with the Sarghress emblem, his medical bag around his shoulder and his sword around his waist.

He worked his way through the busy streets and walked up to a stand selling fried potatoes on sticks. "Hi can I have two please."

Sik was in the middle of taking another bit when a newcomer stepped up to the vendor owner. At first she didn't pay him attention, so taken was she with the a small group of pickpockets scurrying around the stalls costumers opposite the stand. She was just thinking about how clever they were to strike all at once, when she heard the vender say,
"...There, ye are. Oi, ye be one of 'hem Sarghress. Any word from the surface? Tales and all that?"

That got her attention turning to the new costumer. She had always had a fondness for the Sarghress, especially the males. It was as if good looks were a requirement to joining in many of their cases. This one was well enough in looks, though not armored or in any clear uniform which she had always found attractive. Yet he had the clan emblem stitched into his clothing and he carried himself like he had a heavy burden on his shoulder, but wasn't about to let it weigh him down. Clearly this one, was one of the more noble Sarghress.

Or maybe she was just projecting her wishes on this one. It had happened before and she was certain it would happen again. Still she couldn't help, but smile and add her voice with the vendor's. Though she waited as the vendor hand over the order and accepted the ada to ask, "I must admit, I am also curious. Is there any good nuggets from up top? Anything worth a nibble?"

Aly'ena was not having a good streak lately. That botched surface expedition with those mad wolves had left her quite broke in her savings, having had to spend extra hours in her velkyn persona throwing knives and wooing casino patrons with impossibly-cut dresses. She barely had time to patrol the streets as swashbuckler, and even in the day of today, she was under the assumed persona all Qin'dalasque had crafter over the years.

She was not Alyiena, but Neyla, the casino knife throwing bombshell, dressed in a vibrant white china dress with gold trimming, taking a tour after a hard day's work. Her mood was sunken and taciturn, probably from being too uncomfortable close to the task she had been bred as slave. Her golden eyes wandered, and focused on a single stall. One of her fellow clanskin -no doubt in duty- was commenting upon a seller. And then a face she had burned in her mind.

It was that Sarghress quack of the past. His sloppiness had been legendary. Hiding a smirk, she decided to stride forward, her elaborated sleeve pointing at one af the vendor's snacks, asking for the price. She wanted to enjoy the show.

"Thank you." Trinita said as he exchanged payment for the food. He glanced at his surroundings, noting the children pick pockets across the street and kept a closer eye on his ada.

He then turned his attention to the Qin'dalasque, "Nothing that you couldn't hear from just about anyone else. Ferals have been getting more bolder; they have been attacking several travelers along the road. They have also been the target for slavers as of late, that's why the slaver market has so many Ferals."

Trinita didn't want to openly admit he was with one of the parties that were attacked. He fought bravely but the whole event was a sour memory best left forgotten.

"I don't know much aout this next one, but I have heard some human in some parts of the surface have been taking elves as prisoners." He didn't know why he felt like talking to the Qin'dalasque but he felt his eyes linger on her a little longer then he should have. "That about all I know." Trinita said as he took a bite. He took note of the the new comer but didn't pay her much attention but something was familiar about her.

(All changed.)
