Cameo name origins

Cameo name origins

Where did you come up with your cameo's name(s)? I wanted Riviel's name to mean something like common-born, so I looked at a drow dictionary and noticed that things they hold in disdain started with riv. So her name means something like lowborn.

Nehleanee came from an old RP character on a RP forum based on D&D stories.
My character was named Y'Shahinn Nehlean and was the Prime Sorceress of the Drow in this universe ^^

For Ari'nara, I took random syllables, mixed them together, and picked what sounded nice. For Nuru'lara, I wanted her name to sound close to her sister's.

Karo and Kor'rin had a similar creative process to Ari'nara.

For Harci, I think her name means martial in a foreign language? It's been a while since I came up with her.

Thrair's always been my online handle, ever since I first played WoW. And, at this point, it will always be so.

However, my Horde main was a troll shaman named "Altesh", which came from a punny spelling of "Al'kesh" from SG:1. The name of those flying transports, iirc. "Alt-esh", as in alt character. Plus it was more something that sounded like a troll name than any deeper meaning.

Fast-forward a bit over a decade, and I selected it as the name for my first cameo because it fit as a drow-ish sounding name. Much like it did as a troll-sounding name. Hell, in this case I could even have the apostrophe it would have had it WoW names allowed for 'em.

The alternative was some butchering of "Thrair" that attempted to force an apostrophe in somewhere. Thrair would probably fit as a halme character's name.... but it's a bit too norse-like to fit as a drow name.

Kyudosha is a Japanese word for explorer.

Nergui is a Mongolian name meaning "no name." It is a traditional Mongolian name designed to confuse evil spirits.

Smoruk'hai was a funny combination of SMORC and Uruk-hai from LoTR combined that just rolled off the tongue nicely for me.

Thanks for spending your money *omfg* to support DT ;) . Do you plan to have them all meet together and celebrate the family reunion in the proper Drow way by killing each other? *lol*

Gibberish that under a certain sequence of events makes sense, sort of.
And, my most frequently used gamer tag, since creating good names that aren't already in use is hard.
