I can pretty much guarantee that Kern is going to shoot down this idea and you'll have to start over anyway

Ok, Ok sorry, I'll keep it simple she was infested by a Sloth Demon, that is all the details I'm giving. Done.

What I was referring with the joking part is the particular suggestion to is an Ex-Kyorl family(or what is left of one) would allow the youngest sibling getting tainted. Not likely, so the situation was out of their control. They are very protective of the remaining bits of their family. That is the part of it that would break the the concept which was fine to begin with.

EDIT: My apologies, I never meant to turn this into a debate.

Ichi_Jigoku_Flujo wrote:That is definitely not what I'm going for. I think I'll just remove the some form of intelligence part everything else seems alright. It is a Sloth Demon, and I'm not changing that. Sorry. ^^; Demon types are also infinite so you technically cannot disprove it either. This is a brainstorming cameo thread, this is where we discuss concepts. If a particular concept will not work then it is dropped.

People go creating characters differently, there is no one "right or correct" way at creating them. (Sorry, but I really have a sore spot for someone telling me a character is wrong with explaining their reasoning.)

Anyways, still likes to just sleep. Well there is also no definite expiration date either. This is what the thread is for "refining the rock into a gem" in a sense. So again, tossing in ideas, they don't work alright.

It is still a docile type, rare it may be.

OK, no intelligence, I got it. Natures don't count though.

If you do not want people to give you feedback unless it is something you want to hear, please do not go seeking it. No one was saying you had to change your character, but rather the idea of this sloth demon that you were trying to make unique to the world setting in a damaging way. It doesn't really matter in the end what the demon's preference is unless it possesses the user. If you notice in the demon wiki I linked you, the descriptions of ver'aku listed are mostly in regards to their behavior when out in the world. So if it possesses your character and decides it just wants to sleep when unleashed, that's fine, but it'd still want to devour mana. And there is no such thing as an 'expiration date'. What happens is that the host simply cannot hold back the demon's nether and is consumed. Once again, this is not determined by the user or the demon. For a child with no formal training, you would be hard pressed to properly explain, in a reasonable manner, how she was able to live as long as she has with her having been tainted since birth.

Regardless, cameos should be submitted with the story in mind, which includes what Kern needs/wants at that time for the chapter. You can create your character however you wish, just expect Kern to have you make changes if a slot were to open up for a child character.

I will not be providing further feedback to you after this.

Let me create a template with what information I intend to keep. Then go from there. Don't worry, I have taken into account of the feedback. I also love feedback, so I'm confused by the comment you made, Cat. My point on demons is that it has been stated clearly that no two demons are completely the same. That is all. I'm fully aware that a few ideas didn't work. So I'm continuing to refine it. The Sloth Demon is just a name at this point now if you want I can change it to a baby Whale Demon perhaps.

EDIT: Again, I'm sorry If I came across as argumentative at any point. I never intended to be as such. I just tossed in ideas and concepts. the ones that were fine I kept, the ones that were in the grey area, I refined. My problem, I encountered is when the ideas that were previously stated to be fine were being picked at, after it had been settled already. That is what I think mainly happened with this one. But I digressI think I have refined things better now to begin work on the skeleton template now.

You are doing a remarkable job of irritating people who have a lot of sway in your character's approval process, or at the least, knowledge of how it works. I just want you to know that. I think you need to take another look at your character's overview and ask yourself a list of questions:

'Does she really need to be this special?'
'How much bearing will these traits really have on her as a person?'
'How well-received is a person like this going to be in any of the canon societies?'
'Will this person be able to relate to anybody, at all?'
'Just how useful is this mana art, especially outside of combat?'
'How much of these traits will ultimately be retained by the artist?'
'Do the creators of this story want to go through this much trouble over a bit character?'
'Will anyone hearing any part of my character's life story take her seriously?'

These are all things you need to consider. When making a cameo, look through the concept arts for the existing ones for references on what information Kern retains to define a character. Remember also that every cameo has to be a small part of the existing world, and not try to be its focus. That's just not going to happen. Try to picture your character as a person, doing what qualifies as normal things within the scope of the DTverse on a day to day basis, or coping with the troubles the undercities are always facing.

And this might seem a little harsh, but try to remember that this is not your world. You do not dictate the rules which move and shape it. All you or anyone else are buying with a cameo is a small handful of brief inclusions in that world. Your character will not alter the plot or the environment, nor will anyone else's. The most we can hope for in that regard is to catalyze it.

Well , demons can be anything , so you are allowed to experiment .
However ;
1 : Demons are living creatures , so they feed and try to reproduce . You haven't given the sloth demon any way to reproduce since it can't take over its host . I mean maybe it could infect people with its seeds even if it doesn't affect its host but that leads us onto ....
2 : Shasana tried for centuries or something to find a demon which barely or doesn't affect its host . Someone actually finding one without trying would make Shasana cry (or rage) , so we can't do that .
3 : Even the ones Snadhya did eventually use were implied not to necessarily be safe. And even Kiels ones give her some sort of multiple personality disorder . And the little princes and princesses she spawns, were implied to be able to take over other peoples bodies too (I think they were anyway in a livestream), which means even her ones are kind of a danger to others (if not too her). *hmmm*

So maybe try to give this demon a downside to others around her if you don't want to give it a downside to the character (try to avoid the downside making her ridiculously dangerous or powerful compared to others though) , although I can't guarantee even that being accepted though .

Hmm... Yeah, you're right. I had not gotten that far in development of the the idea at the time. You're making good points. I think I'll sleep before I attempt at making the template, I need to have a fresh view on the concepts.

Edit: Don't worry, I have taken your point into my thinking as well, Ash. I appreciate the help everyone's points are providing.

I think I'll just settle with Ada'chi, he is the the safest bet personally. The others might not fit the cameo roles well. So thank you for showing me that point(I'm quite fine with them remaining my OCs). Don't worry, Ada'chi is normal-ish. He will have the best chance when referring to a possible cameo role. Plus who doesn't love a bit of cheerfulness.

Nothing wrong with normal or cheerful characters. Though I would say that he would not likely keep his unique ability to solidify water on a molecular level. Not sure what the possible applications would be for that anyway with a separate ice affinity.

Come to think of it, not one cameo has any unique powers or significant alterations to current ones.

Yeah, perhaps, perhaps Khora. But now that I think about it, maybe I'll change it little bit just have to think about it for a moment, there is so little known data on the Water Affinity as is. >.> Perhaps compressing water could be possible(It is still related to controlling it), though not sure. It is such a gray area. I'll just keep it was a Refined Water Affinity for now, I'm not really sure at the moment what that would mean though ability wise. There are so many different ways a Water Affinity can really go at this point.

One would think a Water Affinity would be able to counter the effects of an Ice Affinity perhaps if trained enough. Though that is just a theory so I'll leave it out of this.
EDIT: What I meant with the theory is that the two Affinities could perhaps cancel each other out, though it would depend heavily on the individuals most likely.

The thing is that Ice affinity users aren't specialists in manipulating frozen water. That's a Water specialist thing, and only if they've had training for it and likely help from an Ice user. Ice users operate by amplifying any latent chilling effects within the reach of their mana, like say a breeze flowing over wet rocks in the dark (which there tends to be a lot of in a cave). They are also born in generally colder areas because affinities tend to be determined by environments at birth, so more likely than not they'd show up among the Beldrobbean, where it's dark and breezy everywhere and therefore not generally warm. Anyway, you should try to keep your affinity descriptions vague (like element and development only) for the purposes of cameos, because they might not show up in the comic at all, or their natures will be altered to suit the plot.

Will Do I'll keep the affinity only its Refined Status, nothing more. I will say this the training Ada'chi had to deal with was terrifying. His Aunt is a very terrifying woman when it comes to training. XD
